It’s definitely an improvement over its predecessor, but some annoying design decisions mean that it’s still not as good as it could be.

Witty and self-aware, Revenge of the Savage Planet is a fun, breezy sequel ideal for co-op play. Some bugs remain, but its charm and humor make it well worth checking out.

If you took the journey five years ago to Journey to the Savage Planet, you'll want to book a trip to Revenge of the Savage Planet as well. Marmite humour and low-key exploration pleasures aside, Revenge of the Savage Planet is a good and enjoyable time that allows you to scan to your heart's content and mosey through unknown landscapes to complete objectives and challenges en route to your ultimate revenge. Revenge of the Savage Planet won't take up much of your time either, but just know that this brand of revenge is a dish served with a slice of weirdness and a platter of squirt burgers—meaning you should just go and have fun for a while.

Revenge of the Savage Planet was a blast to play, and even more fun just sitting back and watching the game’s many hilarious cutscenes. Full of absurdist humor, slapstick visual comedy and a genuine sense of adventure, this game took me by surprise and got me hooked.

Revenge of the Savage Planet invites you to explore and conveys a wonderfully crazy and satirical world. The change of perspective compared to its predecessor and the many collectibles, the gadgets and the possibility of experiencing all this in co-op make the title a successful excursion to other planets.

To sum up, Raccoon Logic didn’t reinvent the wheel but added some shiny new spokes and rims when it comes to the game. The vibrant environment, exploration, and side content make it easy to lose many blissful hours in its world. This is why I give Revenge of the Savage Planet the Thumb Culture Gold Award

Revenge of the Savage Planet is exactly what a sequel should be: more creative, more refined, and more fun. With smart enhancements like third-person perspective, multiple planets to explore, and excellent co-op support, it transforms the original’s clever premise into something far more memorable.

If you didn’t vibe with the humor or exploratory pace of the first game, this sequel won’t change your mind. But if you’re into weird sci-fi, smart level design, and biting satire, this is absolutely worth your time.

In the end, you'll either champion Revenge of the Savage Planet for its inventive environments, tool-driven puzzles, and collectable-driven progression, or you'll criticise it for its uneven humour and shallow combat. Either way, you're met with a game that dares to spoof corporate excess while inviting you to chart your path across four distinct planets.

Revenge of the Savage Planet is a breath of fresh air for adventure game fans. Its wacky humor, unique universe and improved gameplay allow Raccoon Logic Studios to offer a quality sequel. However, the objectives can sometimes be too similar, while the combat still lacks a certain airiness. However, it should be noted that the switch to third-person shooter is a successful gamble. Technical problems aside, this is an interstellar adventure that stands out for its colorful personality. The team seems to have found the right recipe, now all that's left is to sublimate it!

The very existence of Revenge of the Savage Planet is a small miracle after the unfortunate events involving the original development team. Happy with this unexpected return among crazy alien ecosystems, the title made by Raccoon Logic offers a new adventure that recovers the same sarcasm that had decreed the success of its predecessor. While the writing remains unchanged, what has changed, however, is the play structure that embraces third-person, encourages cooperative play and winks at sandboxes. The final product, while rich and fun, is nevertheless less balanced and cohesive than the first chapter. Some fans may love this new course but others may miss the spark of that crazy 2020 adventure.

Silly, smart, and satisfying… Revenge of the Savage Planet is simply one of the most joyfully weird games you’ll play this year. It doesn’t rely solely on its humour to carry the experience, nor does it bog itself down with overly complex systems – what it offers instead is a focused, funny, and delightfully well-paced journey that rewards curiosity and experimentation, whether that’s when playing alone or with a friend. If you’re looking for a game that blends tight Metroidvania progression with vibrant worlds, a light-hearted tone, and plenty of reasons to just poke around and see what happens, Revenge of the Savage Planet is absolutely worth your time.

Revenge of the Savage Planet is one of those games that doesn’t take itself too seriously, but that’s part of the charm. It’s got all the weird alien worlds, over-the-top corporate satire, plus a bunch of bizarre creatures to scan, catch, or just blow up if they get too annoying.

Revenge Of The Savage Planet is a breath of fresh air from the usual doom and gloom we’ve come to expect of modern action-adventure titles, instead being lighthearted, ridiculous and all-around silly fun.

Revenge of the Savage Planet is a sequel that improves on its predecessor on many fronts, managing to keep the core of the original formula intact. The game is not without its flaws - its plot, while interesting, does not reach memorable heights and is peppered with too much unnecessary humour, and some of the game mechanics may be repetitive in the long run. However... well, it is entertaining enough.

Yes, it's in Early Access, and yes, things might improve with future updates. But for now, on PS5 and I guess the same would be on Xbox Series X, it's just not worth it. If you're really curious, maybe give it a go via GamePass and see if you can stomach the rough ride. Otherwise, wait. There's a good game here, but it's buried under a pile of performance issues that seriously affect the experience.

Revenge of the Savage Planet is a sequel that takes what made the first game work and elevates it with visual improvements, greater freedom of exploration, and a welcome expansion of co-op. The shift to third-person, nonsensical humor, and irreverent sci-fi atmosphere maintain the franchise's charm, while new gameplay features make the experience more fluid and strategic.

Revenge of the Savage Planet is a worthy sequel — quirky, packed with content, and often a joy to explore. The colourful worlds and clever metroidvania level design are its biggest strengths, rewarding curiosity with satisfying upgrades and platforming challenges. Unfortunately, a frustrating stamina system and underwhelming combat hold it back from reaching its full potential.

Revenge of the Savage Planet is a fun action-adventure game with Metroidvania elements that features a variety of gameplay mechanics, all put together with a generous sprinkling of humor. While it still needs some polishing with control buttons and subtitles, Revenge of the Savage Planet still delivers an enjoyable space adventure out in the stars.
