Cronos: The New Dawn is a very good choice for the survival horror genre fans. Its old-fashioned mechanics may discourage some players, while certain elements could definitely be improved, such as the scriptwriting, the puzzles, and some technical issues. Nevertheless, the work has been done satisfactorily, and we await Bloober Team's next step with great interest.
Cronos: The New Dawn confirms that Bloober Team wants to expand beyond psychological horror with a survival horror offering more similar to its work with Silent Hill. It's not perfect, but its atmosphere, enigmatic story, and some fresh ideas make it a highly recommended experience for fans of the genre.

Kronos: The New Dawn offers a compelling mystery to solve and a chance to explore a chilling sci-fi hellscape, but its mediocre combat system keeps it in the shadow of survival horror classics like Dead Space and Resident Evil 4.

Bloober Team's horror game has an enviable flair and isn't content with simply being a great exponent of the genre, featuring a functional and fun shooting system, and mastering a great atmosphere: from gravity boots to gadgets for firearms and upgrades that allow you to alter time, Cronos has a wealth of ideas that keep the pace lively.

Cronos’ sweeping narrative issues speak to how thoroughly troubled the entire game is. Like the humanoid blobs that coat many of its buildings and streets, Cronos is an amalgamation of ideas that combine to form a messy whole.
Cronos: The New Dawn is an excellent survival horror game, drawing heavily from other horror games. You can clearly see the references and inspirations, whether in the gameplay, atmosphere, or puzzles. It's important to emphasize, however, that it's not a mere copy. In fact, the title has its own identity and can easily be placed on the same level as other giants of the subgenre.

Cronos: The New Dawn combines a gripping pandemic-tinged narrative, nerve-wracking combat, and smart environmental puzzles into a nightmare that absolutely demands your full attention. Its unrelenting scarcity of resources and ever-present danger keep tension high from start to finish, whilst its time-bending twists and atmospheric environmental design help make for a world that’s wonderful to be a part of… you know… in that ‘I’m scared of everything around me’ kinda way. It’s tough, inventive, and hauntingly memorable, and it easily stands out as one of the strongest survival-horror releases in years. Bloober Team may have earned plaudits for their work on an established horror franchise as of late, but Cronos: The New Dawn proves that their own ideas are every bit as special.
Cronos: The New Dawn is a more than welcome addition to the survival horror genre, with its own identity and all the makings of a truly interesting series.

Bloober Team found their confidence in the Silent Hill 2 remake, and this has shown a side of the studio that could be a force to be reckoned with. Cronos: The New Dawn is easily their best work, and I say that as someone who found the Silent Hill 2 remake to be absolutely jaw-dropping. There is potential for a sequel here, and with some smart choices on improving the aspect around combat, there could be a contender here to the genre that we really haven’t seen since Dead Space.
Cronos: The New Dawn is original, beautiful and challenging game in which the atmosphere, story and gameplay synergize to create a truly grim experience that will stay will haunt the player for a long time.

For me, Cronos: The New Dawn is by far the best Bloober Team game. But even compared to other titles in the genre, it's an incredibly well made survival horror experience that convinced me with clever ideas, a fresh setting, and compelling gameplay. I wasn't the biggest fan of the Silent Hill 2 remake, but I have to give credits to this one without any major reservations and can wholeheartedly recommend it to horror fans.

Cronos: The New Dawn is a very impressive survival horror experience that comes with an intriguing and very well-written story, but those aspects are clearly carrying this game. The combat is a massive disappointment. It’s not immersive, and rather than enjoying the combat, I was more inclined to finish them just to progress and see what happens next in the story.
Cronus: The New Dawn is a challenging slog of a game, but if you’re determined to get through the tough times within the game, it is fantastic. If you’re into your survival horror titles, then you won’t be disappointed with how this game plays. They have nailed the atmosphere, audio and strategic combat throughout. As someone who isn’t too fond of challenging experiences, this was just on the edge for me. Bloober Team have certainly delivered with a beautifully polished and presented adventure that easily nestles amongst the best titles in the genre.
Challenging combat and tight resource management fuel Cronos: The New Dawn’s chilling sci-fi survival horror atmosphere even if many questions remain unanswered by the end.
Cronos: The New Dawn proves that survival horror can still evolve without losing its essence. Bloober Team delivers a bold, mature, and unsettling experience that demands patience and emotional resilience. It stands out in a gaming landscape often dulled by safe formulas. If you're looking for a disturbing, thought-provoking title that leaves you feeling vulnerable in the best way, Cronos deserves a spot in your digital library. It's not perfect, but it's honest—and that’s rare in today’s gaming world.

The game is inspired by both Dark Souls and Resident Evil 4. It doesn’t hit the highs of those games, primarily because of drab environments and sometimes boring gameplay. The Switch 2 version doesn’t do much to distinguish itself from a Switch 1 game, but some of the effects do look next-gen.
What Cronos does, it does very well, and taking the recency bias of the Silent Hill 2 Remake out of the equation, I can’t recall a new survival-horror game I’ve enjoyed this much and found this immersive in a while.
Despite a few glimmers of brilliance, Cronos: The New Dawn ends up so aggressively mediocre on so many levels that it’s hard not to feel disappointed by what could have been.
