Super Mario Galaxy + Super Mario Galaxy 2 Reviews

Creativity flows throughout two of gaming’s best adventures, finally available on modern hardware and looking wonderful on Switch systems. There is so much sublime platforming here when considering the amount of inventiveness spread across both Super Mario Galaxy titles, with each offering something for absolutely everyone. There are some niggles here and there, but when the moment-to-moment gameplay is so consistently enjoyable, it is easy to brush over minor grievances. This is a collection every Nintendo fan needs to own.
These games shine just as bright as they did 15 years ago with minimal but essential improvements to keep it as fresh today as it was in 2010.

Super Mario Galaxy 1 + 2 on Nintendo Switch 2 is a pleasant reimagining of two classics that still impress with their inventiveness and gameplay. It's primarily aimed at new players and younger audiences, as series veterans will find more of a nostalgic return than a revolution. It's great fun, but the price should be lower to truly appeal to a wider audience.

Super Mario Galaxy + Super Mario Galaxy 2 are timeless classics that defined 3D platforming, now back on Switch with native support for both docked and handheld play. While the gameplay and level design remain stellar, the remaster offers only minor improvements and a steep $70 price that may leave longtime fans questioning Nintendo's approach. For newcomers, however, these are still essential Mario adventures.

Super Mario Galaxy 1 and 2 remain timeless showcases of inventive gameplay and stellar design. This collection updates them with higher resolution and small tweaks, though it misses a deeper visual overhaul and still has minor camera issues. Despite that, it's an essential package for both newcomers and longtime fans.

It's a dream to rediscover Super Mario Galaxy with the technical and visual quality of Nintendo Switch 2, where the adventure takes on a special shine. However, the lack of major new features hampers a lackluster release that appeals to nostalgia.

Super Mario Galaxy + Super Mario Galaxy 2 are a couple of the best 3D platformers ever and this brand new Switch release is the optimal way to experience them so whether you're a long-time fan or have never played them before, they'll surely send your fun meter to outer space.
A must-have for all Mario fans and platformer enthusiasts. If you’ve only played Super Mario Galaxy so far, you should consider whether it’s worth buying Super Mario Galaxy 2. You can also purchase it separately in the Nintendo eShop. You can enjoy both games in short bursts or play them for longer stretches at a time. While these games are pricey on the Nintendo Switch, they’re absolutely worth it!

With Super Mario Galaxy and Super Mario Galaxy 2, Nintendo delivers two technically polished, mechanically brilliant remakes that remain unchanged in terms of content. The decision to forgo additional content, graphical enhancements, or modernizations means that the re-release feels more like a preservation than a reinvention. For anyone who hasn’t played the originals yet, this is an excellent opportunity to catch up on two significant games in recent video game history. Those who already own the Wii versions, however, will find little reason to buy them again. Both games remain milestones in 3D platforming, but they are milestones from a different era.

Super Mario Galaxy 1+2 on Nintendo Switch 2 isn’t just another re-release. It’s a tribute to two of the best 3D platformers ever made. It’s a cosmic journey that transcends even the pull of nostalgia. The gameplay, level design, atmosphere, and graphical splendor ensure that these games will still hold their own among their peers in 2025. I’m left with the same feeling I had with the Switch 2 version of Zelda: BotW—that these games surpass even modern titles without a doubt. The combination of 4K visuals, 60fps, and smooth controls makes this the ultimate way to relive these classics. Anyone who has never played the Super Mario Galaxy games won’t care about paying 70 euros for this bundle. There are a few minor flaws here and there in both games, but that doesn’t stop the Super Mario Galaxy bundle from being two stars that together form a galaxy.

Revisiting these classics, more so after enjoying The Super Mario Galaxy Movie, has been a wonderful treat. They hold up beautifully on Nintendo Switch & Switch 2, retaining the high quality that they had on the original Nintendo Wii. Lack of accessibility options for motion controls and somewhat dated textures do little to sour what are stone-cold Nintendo classics. Stunning visuals, intuitive platforming that keeps you on your toes, and some of the best presentation in any 3D Mario adventure make this double pack a must-own for any Mario fan.
It's just a porting of two legendary games that made the history of the industry, but the 70 pricepoint, and the complete lack of any significant new content, makes you sincerely ask if it's worth the price it asks.

This are two of the most outstanding 3D games in the Super Mario franchise and thanks to these new versions, they have the opportunity to shine once again with better portability. Although Mario has experimented with different types of mechanics in other installments, the limits he reached in these two space odysseys are on another level—in terms of gameplay, art and above all, epic scale. Yes, there's higher resolution, but what pleases us most is seeing how timeless some games can remain.

If you've missed playing them on the Wii, there's no better time to get into Super Mario Galaxy than now.
Coming into these games for the first time, I can confidently say the hype was justified. Super Mario Galaxy 1 + 2 are still as special as everyone said they were. They feel inventive, joyful, and full of the kind of imagination that’s increasingly rare in modern games.
Even with controls and camera work that feel slightly like a relic, there’s nothing here that would make you think the world got it wrong 15-20 years ago as far as these games are concerned. They were pinnacles of 3D platforming then, and they remain that way today as well.
Nintendo has brought Super Mario Galaxy and Super Mario Galaxy 2 to the Switch and Switch 2 in one bundle, offering newcomers a perfect chance to experience these platforming masterpieces—though for veterans, the steep seventy-euro price for essentially unchanged games might make dusting off the old Wii just as tempting.

Super Mario Galaxy + Super Mario Galaxy 2 on the Switch is a collection that simply shouldn't be ignored. It’s an awesome chance for new generation to see what perfection in the 3D platforming games looks like and also for veterans to remember why they fell in love with these games years ago. Despite a few minor control issues in handheld mode, gameplay is truly remarkable.

Even in 2025 the two Wii classics that Nintendo is letting us experience again as ports are beyond almost all doubt and rightfully enjoy the cult status that fans attribute to them. Yes, Super Mario Galaxy 1 and 2 are still two fantastic games and I had a lot of fun with both again: the level design is clever and remains unparalleled to this day and part 2 in particular shines with an incredible number of ideas and fun bonus items. However, I still think that Nintendo's pricing policy has gone a bit too far. While you could get three games for 59.99 with Super Mario 3D All-Stars, here you have to spend 69.99 if you want both games or 39.99 each, which is a bit steep for mere ports. Especially when you consider that for the same price you could get a much more elaborate version of a classic with Metroid Prime Remastered. Nevertheless the games are fantastic and I'm happy to be able to play them in this form on the Switch and Switch 2.
