Final Fantasy Tactics - The Ivalice Chronicles Reviews
Including both the original and a new enhanced version of the classic tactical RPG, Final Fantasy Tactics: The Ivalice Chronicles is fantastic for fans and newcomers alike. The enhanced version is the real draw here, though, mostly because of its revised story and full voice acting, which really adds to the experience.
Final Fantasy Tactics The Ivalice Chronicles is the best way to experience this masterpiece, even if it is missing the War of Lions content which pales in comparison to the added best in class voice acting and the new script

Final Fantasy: The Ivalice Chronicles does enough to make it the definitive way to play this masterpiece, doesn't matter if it's your first, second, third or tenth time. Adds difficulty options, improved visuals, amazing voice acting, a new interface that makes every tutorial, dialogue and menu more comprehensive and more. All that while also maintaining the essence and charm of the original.

Overall, Final Fantasy Tactics: The Ivalice Chronicles is perhaps the best version of an already amazing game. All of its strengths are front and center, and any flaws were present in the original game, even if they're amplified in some cases. Even if you dislike the changes, the classic version is still makes it still an excellent way to experience the game, assuming you don't miss the War of the Lions bonus features. Final Fantasy Tactics remains a classic and a must-play for any fans of strategy RPGs or the Final Fantasy franchise.
Final Fantasy Tactics: The Ivalice Chronicles is an excellent remaster of one of the best and most influential JRPGs of all time. Despite some content from previous versions is missing, everything important is here, making this the best way to experience a game that is a must-have for every fan of the genre.

The job class system remains a standout, and the plot–as heavy as it is–stands as one for the ages. There is no better time to hop on a Chocobo, and delve into an RPG of and for history. One of the most replayable Square Enix games has never been more worthy of the title.
Final Fantasy Tactics: The Ivalice Chronicles stands the test of time as one of the best tactics games the genre has ever seen. Its voiced content adds a modern layer to an already incredible story, and although its combat system hasn't changed much, it's just as good today as it was nearly 30 years ago.
A revision that's more of an excellent work of preservation, aimed at maintaining all the quality of the original and filing away only the roughest edges.

In summary, Final Fantasy Tactics: The Ivalice Chronicles largely succeeds in what it sets out to do. Not only does it coherently update its technical aspects, but it also adds necessary quality-of-life improvements; furthermore, its story and gameplay remain highly enjoyable today. Unfortunately, the lack of a Spanish translation makes it a completely inaccessible experience for a large part of the public.

FINAL FANTASY TACTICS - The Ivalice Chronicles takes an already incredible SRPG and makes it even better with plenty of modern niceties and full voice acting. Hey, you can finally learn how to pronounce the characters' names and that's worth it alone.
A tactical remake that drops in a year full of excellent remakes and can count itself among the top efforts. It’s well worth a playthrough, and by far the best version of the game for both newcomers and returning fans, but you’ll get a lot of action out of that RB Fast-Forward feature while you grind jobs & levels.
If you’re new to Tactics, this is the version to play. And if you’re a veteran, it’s a chance to revisit Ivalice in a form that respects what you loved while adding touches that make it easier and more engaging to experience again. I’ll certainly be coming back for more runs. The Ivalice Chronicles stands as a testament to how far a great design can carry you, and how a respectful remake can rekindle the magic all over again.
This game serves as a profound lesson in deep gameplay design, complex storytelling, and immersive world-building. The Ivalice Chronicles isn't just the best way to experience Final Fantasy Tactics; it's a potent reminder of why this game, a quarter-century later, remains at the absolute peak of its genre. It is a game of bloody chess, a political tragedy, and an unforgettable adventure.

Final Fantasy Tactics: The Ivalice Chronicles masterfully revives a PS1 legend with stunning visuals, sharp combat and a story that still cuts deep. Some pacing hiccups aside, it’s an amazing return to Ivalice that strategy fans won’t want to miss.
It doesn’t matter if you played Final Fantasy Tactics on the PlayStation in 1997, the first re-release on PSP in 2007 or never played it before. Final Fantasy Tactics: The Ivalice Chronicles is an excellent game for any tactics or strategy fan regardless of your history with the Final Fantasy IP. In terms of remakes, it’s very good, but I wish there would have been a little more work done especially the use of Square’s HD-2D visuals or slightly better camera controls. In terms of strategy games, Final Fantasy Tactics was one of the best strategy games that released in 1997 and it’s still one of the best strategy releases of 2025.
In finally re-releasing, after almost thirty years, a true masterpiece of tactical JRPGs, Final Fantasy Tactics - The Ivalice Chronicles can only be a memorable title in its own right. An improved and enhanced version of the 1997 classic, made appealing by many small improvements, fully dubbed dialogues, and an unprecedented Enhanced version. While the title remains untouchable and truly unmissable, there is a hint of bitterness in the treatment reserved for such a milestone. What could have been a much more ambitious and daring re-release ends up being a mere, not particularly convincing remaster (notably lacking Italian among the supported languages). Yasumi Matsuno's gem probably deserved better.

FINAL FANTASY TACTICS – The Ivalice Chronicles offers new light on a thirty-year-old title, improving it with revised UI and English and Japanese voice-acting, yet once again lacking Italian localization and retaining the barrier of complexity due to approximate and generic tutorials that miss the mark. Play it if you want a challenging title with excellent storytelling set in the Final Fantasy universe, while being aware that it departs almost entirely from the main saga in almost every aspect.
