Copa City Reviews
Copa City has potential and with regular updates it could become a really good tycoon management game surrounding football events. However, it needs issues to be addressed like performance and for things to be better explained so players are not overwhelmed with quests that introduce new things without a heads up.
Copa City brings a refreshing take on football management by focusing on an aspect of the beautiful game that gets overlooked elsewhere. Planning and executing the matchday experience for a club and its city works fits snugly into the various sub-genres the game employs, but be ready to face a frustrating lesson or two if you're playing on console.
Copa City moves the action off the pitch and into the behind-the-scenes world of football, delivering one of the most original concepts in the genre. Managing the entire infrastructure of a major sporting event is both engaging and rewarding, thanks to its solid management systems and immersive atmosphere. However, a confusing interface, insufficient tutorials, and a steep learning curve prevent its excellent concept from reaching its full potential. Even so, it's a creative experience that simulation fans should keep on their radar.

There are undoubtedly gamers who appreciate Copa City's simplicity and don’t miss the deeper layers, but this game feels like a hollow cup that could have been made of gold-plated metal.

Copa City is our biggest disappointment of 2026 so far. While the idea of managing the logistical and urban side of a football event is fresh and fascinating, the execution is disastrous. Clunky controls, a confusing interface, severe technical issues, and a lack of content completely ruin the experience. It's a huge missed opportunity, made even worse by a too-high price tag.

Copa City has a brilliant concept, turning football into a tycoon about fan zones, crowd management, stadium preparation, and the hidden logistics behind match day. When the city comes alive and fans start filling the streets, its unusual perspective really works. Too often, though, unclear tutorials, weak feedback, rough navigation, and an underwhelming match payoff get in the way of what could have been a much smoother management experience.

In its current state, I believe the purchase is worthwhile mainly for those who appreciate the genre and are willing to overlook some rough edges that still need refinement in future updates. After all, behind the finishing issues lies a creative idea that has the potential to become a benchmark within a virtually unexplored niche.

Copa City turns everything that happens before kick-off into a fresh management game, focusing on fan zones, security, services and stadium logistics. Its concept feels genuinely original and engaging, even if the tutorials and interface still need refinement.

Copa City brings a refreshing twist to the management genre by putting players in charge of organizing every aspect of a major sporting event. Its deep simulation systems and charming presentation make for a rewarding experience, but the lack of guidance after the tutorial creates a steep learning curve. With a few quality-of-life improvements, it has the potential to become a standout management game.

Copa City takes a refreshing approach to the football management genre by shifting the focus away from what happens on the pitch. It instead puts you in charge of everything that surrounds matchday. Organising transport, entertainment, security, and fan experiences creates a unique challenge that helps the game stand out from the crowd. That said, issues with the interface and camera controls can make the experience more frustrating than it should be. Even so, Triple Espresso deserves credit for taking a risk on such an original concept that feels genuinely different. While it ultimately wasn’t a game that clicked with me personally, fans of management sims and football culture may find plenty to enjoy here. For its solid foundations, ambition and originality, I’m awarding Copa City a Thumb Culture Silver Award.
Copa City looks at football from a fresh angle, focusing on fan zones and stadium logistics instead of the action on the pitch. Unfortunately, clunky controls, repetitive objectives, and a lack of meaningful long-term progression hold it back. The result is an original management game that never fully lives up to its promising concept.

Copa City uses its football theme like a jersey one puts on just to somehow be part of the football world because there’s something to celebrate right now. But it cannot convey the emotions that millions of fans around the world connect with the sport.

Copa City offers a solid level of challenge and even a higher degree of complexity for fans of management-focused titles. However, the console version could benefit from controller optimizations to better handle the volume of information players need to process, alongside some general performance improvements.

COPA CITY succeeds in an area that very few football games attempt to explore: looking beyond the pitch and transforming it into something genuinely playable and occasionally even mesmerizing. The sensation of watching a city come alive under your control, with the right crowd in the right places and the chaos managed, is rewarding in a way that this genre rarely matches.

Copa City delivers a concept rarely seen in the market. By shifting the focus from the soccer field to the backstage of a major sporting event, the game offers an impressive level of management and makes the player feel responsible for every detail surrounding a football match.

As original and unusual as the premise behind "Copa City" may be, there are still some rough edges.

We did not necessarily place great expectations around the title of Triple Espresso mixing construction, management and organization of football events. We still start bluffed from the number of options and the depth of the management mechanics, their consistency and the clarity of the menus that make it easy to take control of the game. It must be said that Copa City offers a new look and an unprecedented experience for the players. We have the impression that the history of the game is written before our eyes and that we have contributed to it, and it is a very pleasant feeling. If you are a fan of city management game, you could very quickly hang on. No need to love football in particular, even if it’s a plus, since it’s more of the sports event management that could even be associated with other sports.
