Terminator 2D: No Fate doesn't capture every single little detail from the classic film, and the controls certainly have their quirks. Nevertheless, it's a fun side-scroller with enough game modes to keep you coming back.
Terminator 2D: NO FATE doesn't go the extra mile to really mine the sci-fi classic for gold, but it lands all its shots and delivers highly replayable, no-nonsense retro goodness that looks, sounds, and controls great.
Terminator 2D: No Fate delivers great visuals, sound, and fun gameplay, but its extremely short length undermines the experience. With multiple playthroughs possible in under two hours, the '30 price feels hard to justify, especially given the lack of gameplay variety.

Terminator 2D: No Fate is a great tribute to Cameron's film and universe. Many iconic characters, various genres, and game modes come together to ensure the best way to experience firsthand this or that moment from Terminator 2. It may not delve too deeply into each genre, and the experience may fall short for those unfamiliar with the film, but old-timers and fans of the T-800 and the Connors' struggle will have plenty of reasons to enjoy it.

This title is a clear step up from Terminator 2 Judgment Day on the SNES, offering enjoyable Easter eggs, expanded story moments, and responsive controls with mostly well balanced difficulty. While later stages can feel a bit cheap and the arcade style continue system may frustrate some players, the music, pixel art, and gameplay are all strong. The main drawback is the price, especially given the game’s length, but whether bought at full price by dedicated fans or on sale, it is still a worthwhile experience for Terminator 2 fans.
As an adaptation of Terminator 2: Judgment Day in video game form, Terminator 2D: No Fate is a fun game to play through.
Terminator 2D: No Fate shines as a piece of homage to Terminator 2. A wonderful recreation of one of James Cameron’s best, that looks and sounds superb. The gameplay of No Fate is fun for the first few times you play through its campaign, though lasting appeal might falter when you have seen the three endings.
Terminator 2, one of cinema's biggest classics, returns in the form of a 2D action game, fascinating but a little stiff.

You can smash through Terminator 2D: No Fate's story mode in less that the runtime of the movie, but that doesn't stop this side-scrolling action platformer from being a perfectly presented tribute to 90s nostalgia.
Interestingly, half of what makes Terminator 2D fun is its painstaking reproduction of the movie on which it's based. Were it to have no relationship to a beloved IP, it would likely be criticised for its brevity, linearity, and general simplicity. Once fully beaten, you won't likely return to it for anything except a nostalgia hit, but T2 fans and 16-bit diehards will feel well-served by its detailed reminiscence.A great deal of the game's charm is derived from its novelty factor, and it's that novelty, in conjunction with some clever ideas and impressive authenticity, that should inform your purchasing decision.
A classic 90's film turned in a classic 90's side scrolling shooter, with a few lashings of modern techniques, what's not to love?
The actual act of playing through iconic events like Arnie’s bar brawl, the T-1000’s helicopter chase, and others hasn’t been made all that intriguing. A fact that also isn’t helped by how most are over all too quickly. Ultimately, it makes for a fun hit of 1990s nostalgia every long-time Terminator 2 will enjoy getting to chew on. As for whether this always makes for the best game, though? Negative.
Although the runtime is short and the movement feels a little too close to games of that era, the range of options available provides plenty of incentive to revisit the game. The result is a strong package and a heartfelt ode to a bygone era.
Terminator 2D: No Fate is a nostalgic throwback to the time when Terminator 2: Judgement Day was released, and it feels very authentic to that. The shooting and action carry this game, making it feel like it was a tie-in released alongside the movie, but the short length and repetitive nature of it may weigh on some people and cause some questioning of its price tag. Regardless, even if you have never watched any of the Terminator movies, you may come away enjoying what this game is in its short spurts.
Even without the Terminator license, this would be just a very well-executed old-school side-scrolling shooter. With the touchstones of the film to work with, though, Bitmap has delivered an experience that finally does proper justice to one of the greatest blockbuster films of all time.
Thanks to its retro-styled visuals and old-fashioned gameplay, Terminator 2D: No Fate genuinely feels like a blast from the past, and that's not necessarily a bad thing. While it's rather short and it's disappointing that there's no voice acting, it perfectly captures the essence of the classic film and remains fun to play throughout.
Terminator 2D: NO FATE achieves no small feat: it does full justice to James Cameron's iconic 1991 movie. Developed by Bitmap Bureau, the title embraces pixel art and two-dimensional arcade action to reproduce not only the most famous scenes from Terminator 2: Judgment Day, but also new scenarios with multiple endings. An excellent result in terms of the quality and quantity of the gameplay, which nevertheless has to contend with a not insignificant circumstance. NO FATE recalls not only the aesthetics but also the challenging difficulty of the scrolling shooters of the 1990s, with some significant peaks that will put players' skills and patience to the test. If you can't get past that, look elsewhere... for everyone else, well... “no hay problema.”

Terminator 2D: NO FATE is not a game that tries to please everyone. It's straight, focused, and doesn't care if it's old-fashioned. The game can be finished in a short amount of time, especially on easier settings. A big part of what makes it fun is that you can play stages over and over, learn how to play better, and discover new routes. Without a license, it could feel short or easy. But as an approved adaptation, it does what so many other adaptations didn't do.
