Mega Man Star Force Legacy Collection bundles up a whole series of action-RPGs and adds some valuable extras and enhancements. But while existing fans and those who love the Battle Network series will likely lap it up, newcomers might find it all a little too dated.

While not bad games, the series is more continuation than evolution of the previous series, especially in presentation, story, and age range. Star Force 3 was also the direct predecessor to the somewhat ongoing Mega Man drought. While the perfect cure for a shonen anime friendship speech craving, Mega Man Star Force Legacy Collection feels a bit interchangeable with what came before.

A good collection of a charming if not exciting series. Cute graphics and a deep battle system are its strengths, but a bland story and series events dull its edge.

Three solid games that, while they didn't exactly revolutionize the genre back in the day, still managed to carve out a spot for themselves among RPG and character enthusiasts. That said, Capcom-just as it did with the Battle Network Collection-has done the bare minimum, and sometimes, as with the language options, not even that.

A rich and loving collection, weighed down by the stubborn preservation of tedious and anachronistic progression mechanics.

Mega Man Star Force Legacy Collection is a stellar collection of some of Mega Man's often-forgotten adventures that, despite some shortcomings, feels excellent to play with modern QoL features and other additions.

Star Force adheres too closely to Battle Network for its own good, and where it does make changes they are generally for the worse. With all that said, it’s hard to fault Capcom’s work here on dressing these games in their Sunday best and getting them back out there.

Mega Man Star Force Legacy Collection reintroduces Capcom’s overlooked RPG trilogy with heartfelt storytelling, strategic combat, and a wealth of modern enhancements. What was once critically dismissed now feels cohesive and character-driven, anchored by Geo Stelar’s emotional journey and a satisfying evolution of the Battle Network formula. While some dated design quirks remain, particularly in sidequest structure and occasional vagueness, the collection’s quality-of-life upgrades and comprehensive content make it an easy recommendation for both newcomers and longtime fans.

The Mega Man Star Force Legacy Collection’s a massive package that treats Geo Stelar’s story with the respect it deserves. The second game’s a grind, but the fast combat and Noise transformations in the final entry make the trilogy worth seeing through to the end. The transition’s a win for you thanks to the accessible Buster Max tools.

Mega Man Star Force Legacy collection doesn't come as a surprise. It doesn't change anything or push the limits. It doesn't have to, though. It's a continuation of a system that worked, brought forward with just the right amount of care to be playable now. That might be enough for you, but it depends on what you want.

Capcom continues to show deep respect for the Blue Bomber's legacy, giving fans the chance to play all seven titles in this trilogy with all the exclusive extras from the Japanese versions, including online play and quality-of-life improvements at a very attractive price compared to the current value of DS cartridges as collector's items. While these games reflect the fatigue the series experienced in the early 2000s, they are also remembered for their story and Geo's evolution as a character. So, if you're a Mega Man fan and never got the chance to play the Star Force saga, now's the perfect time to experience the story of Geo and Omega-Xis.

Mega Man Star Force Legacy Collection proves that the Nintendo DS trilogy still has plenty to offer. Star Force 3 stands as the pinnacle of the combat system, while the variations of each game expand the gameplay and offer countless hours of content. The adaptation to modern systems works well, the extras and recovered content are a welcome addition, and the collection ensures that the experience of exploring Wave World and its challenges remains appealing even to a new audience. It is, without a doubt, the most complete way to experience this era of Mega Man.

Mega Man Star Force Legacy Collection lets you play several Capcom classics that were practically lost on today's platforms. They're quirky games with good ideas, but they don't hide their time and the humble platform they were made for.

Capcom’s meticulous restoration of the Star Force trilogy successfully translates the DS’s dual-screen DNA into a sleek, modern package. By pairing the series' rhythmic, grid-based 3D combat with transformative quality-of-life toggles and a heartfelt "EM-wave" narrative, this collection effectively "trims the fat," turning a once-overlooked spin-off into a definitive sci-fi RPG experience.

Mega Man Star Force Legacy Collection offers a valuable opportunity to discover a deeper side of the franchise, standing out for its narrative and a 16-bit-style soundtrack that still shines today. However, Capcom’s effort feels minimal: the port is excessively bare-bones, the graphical smoothing muddies the original pixel art, and the lack of a Spanish translation remains an inexcusable barrier in 2026. While the collection is enjoyable due to its strong core, it ultimately deserved a more handcrafted touch.

Unless you’re a huge fan of this iteration of Mega Man, you'll likely stumble over clunky gameplay and story elements. But if you’re interested in how gaming history is kept alive by bringing DS titles to modern platforms, then this collection might be worth your perusal.

Capcom nailed it with the Mega Man Star Force Legacy Collection in every aspect. Presentation-wise, it is the best compilation featuring the Blue Bomber they've ever released, adding plenty of quality-of-life changes that I'd love to see them retroactively implement in previous titles. In terms of gameplay, while Battle Network still outshines the Star Force spin-offs in many ways, each game continuously builds upon the previous one to much success (for the most part), making the highly underrated journey of Geo Stelar from a secluded, directionless kid dealing with grief and loneliness into a fully-fledged anime protagonist that would die for his friends a blast to rediscover.
