The Mega Man Star Force Legacy Collection is the gold standard for how retro compilations should be handled. CAPCOM didn't just port the games; they enhanced them, preserved them, and restored content that Western fans were previously denied. While the deckbuilding might feel a bit streamlined compared to Battle Network, the incredibly fast-paced combat, deeply emotional character arcs, and massive suite of modern quality-of-life options make this an easy recommendation. Whether you are reliving the nostalgia of the DS era or "EM Wave Changing" for the very first time, Geo Stelar’s journey is absolutely worth taking.

It’s impressive to think just how far the Legacy Collection branch of Mega Man has come since that original package with the first six Classic Mega Man games. What were once competent, if somewhat safe and boring, compilations now feel like proper celebrations of Mega Man’s diversity and rich history. Mega Man Star Force Legacy Collection, to my delight and surprise, is perhaps the collection that best exemplifies this. Even despite the series being more lowkey and less popular than its big brother on GBA, Capcom still saw fit to give it the royalty treatment. While it’s certainly debatable whether it’s the best collection in terms of the actual games on offer, I would go to bat and say this is the best collection they’ve ever done in terms of tender loving care. The improvements to presentation, including sound and drawing quality, makes each game feel like it jumped a generation ahead. Considered gameplay tweaks that were thankfully made optional helps to also smooth over frustrations of the original games, especially in Star Force 2’s case. A suite of artwork, online features, and bonuses all around makes this the best way to experience these games, even accounting for changes made to accommodate the transition to one screen. It helps that these games are, foundationally, all a lot of fun in their own ways and feature writing that far surpasses the Battle Network series in terms of character writing, meaningful theming, and a grander sense of emotion. Star Force 3 in particular is one of the very best games in the entire Mega Man franchise, being the peak of the series’ gameplay while also offering a very strong narrative conclusion to the whole package. If this is the quality Capcom will be moving forward with in their Mega Man collections, then the Legends series is in great hands.

Mega Man Star Force Legacy Collection retains the original charm of the series. The story remains engaging, the characters are captivating, and the concept of a world connected by waves is still creative and unique within the Mega Man franchise. With some more careful adjustments, this could be a practically definitive collection, but as it is, it's a good experience, albeit with important reservations.

If you want to try these games, I truly believe they are worth the investment — not only for those who want to replay them, whether because they've already played them on the DS or on emulators, but also for those who enjoy similar RPGs from that era of the Nintendo DS.

Mega Man Star Force returns in style with a compilation that celebrates its legacy, bringing us all the games in this franchise that remain timeless in both their gameplay formula and their essence, but missing the Spanish language in such a deep and dialogue-filled story.

Mega Man Star Force Legacy Collection gives these games the second chance they deserved. The core gameplay still stands, and the added quality-of-life features make it easier to get into. It’s not perfect though, and some rough edges are still hard to ignore. A great collection for fans, but definitely not for everyone.

Mega Man Star Force Legacy Collection is a well-assembled package of games that time has treated unevenly. The combat system still holds on, even for today's standards; the first game's story holds a quiet emotional weight, and the quality-of-life additions make the trilogy more approachable than it has ever been. For fans who remember these games fondly, the collection is an easy recommendation at its price point.

Mega Man Star Force Legacy Collection carries over all the quirks inherent to its original platform and successfully adapts them to modern standards. Although the games show their age in some aspects, it’s hard to put the experience down once you understand how they work. Mega Man Star Force Legacy Collection is a competent compilation that rescues a different and often underrated phase of the franchise with the care it deserves. With several quality-of-life improvements, customization options, and an excellent adaptation of the two screens, the package delivers the most complete way to revisit the trilogy. Even so, its origins are evident: the slower pace, extensive tutorials, and simpler combat may not appeal to everyone. For fans, it’s a must-play; for new players, it might not be the best starting point, but it’s still worth checking out.

Star Force adheres too closely to Battle Network for its own good, and where it does make changes they are generally for the worse. With all that said, it’s hard to fault Capcom’s work here on dressing these games in their Sunday best and getting them back out there.

Mega Man Star Force Legacy Collection reintroduces Capcom’s overlooked RPG trilogy with heartfelt storytelling, strategic combat, and a wealth of modern enhancements. What was once critically dismissed now feels cohesive and character-driven, anchored by Geo Stelar’s emotional journey and a satisfying evolution of the Battle Network formula. While some dated design quirks remain, particularly in sidequest structure and occasional vagueness, the collection’s quality-of-life upgrades and comprehensive content make it an easy recommendation for both newcomers and longtime fans.

Despite being heralded as one of the more underrated games in the Mega Man franchise, Capcom did absolutely everything in its power to showcase the best version of the Star Force trilogy, and it shows. From added quality-of-life features, restored content, and adjusted gameplay mechanics from the old touch-screen only controls, on top of how great these games already were, they have delivered their arguably best remaster collection to date.

The second game’s a grind, but the fast combat and Noise transformations in the final entry make the trilogy worth seeing through to the end. The transition’s a win for you thanks to the accessible Buster Max tools.

Mega Man Star Force Legacy collection doesn't come as a surprise. It doesn't change anything or push the limits. It doesn't have to, though. It's a continuation of a system that worked, brought forward with just the right amount of care to be playable now. That might be enough for you, but it depends on what you want.

Capcom continues to show deep respect for the Blue Bomber's legacy, giving fans the chance to play all seven titles in this trilogy with all the exclusive extras from the Japanese versions, including online play and quality-of-life improvements at a very attractive price compared to the current value of DS cartridges as collector's items. While these games reflect the fatigue the series experienced in the early 2000s, they are also remembered for their story and Geo's evolution as a character. So, if you're a Mega Man fan and never got the chance to play the Star Force saga, now's the perfect time to experience the story of Geo and Omega-Xis.

Mega Man Star Force Legacy Collection proves that the Nintendo DS trilogy still has plenty to offer. Star Force 3 stands as the pinnacle of the combat system, while the variations of each game expand the gameplay and offer countless hours of content. The adaptation to modern systems works well, the extras and recovered content are a welcome addition, and the collection ensures that the experience of exploring Wave World and its challenges remains appealing even to a new audience. It is, without a doubt, the most complete way to experience this era of Mega Man.
