Dynasty Warriors: Origins - Visions of Four Heroes Reviews
Dynasty Warriors: Origins Visions Of Four Heroes is a nice addition to the main game, but it has its highs and lows. The highs, such as Zhang Jiao’s story, a few additional moments in other scenarios, and just being more of the already excellent Dynasty Warriors: Origins make this package hard not to recommend. But the price is somewhat high, and some of the new additions aren’t really the highlights I would’ve hoped for.
"An ambitious expansion with narrative weight" The Visions of Four Heroes expansion is not just typical DLC; it's an expansion that reinvests in the Dynasty Warriors: Origins identity through alternative scenarios with a distinctly human dimension. It adds campaigns with varying tones, new weapons with skill depth, and a strategic system that gives battles an extra layer of planning. Despite some limitations in visual variety and the simplicity of some systems, the quality of the writing and the consistency of the technical execution make it a strong addition that enhances the core experience without compromising its identity.

Dynasty Warriors: Origins - Visions of Four Heroes galvanises the rebirth of a fan favourite franchise that had started to show signs of fatigue. The expansion helps to further expand the story through additional character perspectives while supercharging the hack n' slash gameplay with new features. However, with the DLC costing almost as much as the core game on some platforms, it's a tough sell, only suitable for those die-hard DW heads who simply can't wait for a sequel.
Dynasty Warriors: Origins is a truly fantastic game, and Visions of Four Heroes offers a solid chunk more of that experience. However, at just under half the price of the base game, it's easy to feel like there should've been a bit more that's actually new.
This story DLC of four "what if" mini campaign arcs provide a decent reason to revisit Dynasty Warriors: Origins if you enjoyed its moment to moment gameplay, though its closed off nature does make the whole experience a bit hollow at its core.
Dynasty Warriors: Origins Visions of Four Heroes is a solid expansion to the great game that was Dynasty Warriors: Origins.
Visions of Four Heroes serves as an excellent addition to the game's "if" storyline, offering players a satisfying sense of wish fulfillment and allowing each hero to claim their own moment of glory. The introduction of the military strategy system expands the scale of combat beyond the main game, delivering exhilarating large-army clashes. That said, its gameplay extensions remain fairly conservative, as the actual combat experience differs little from the original and does not achieve any fundamental evolution.

While Visions of Four Heroes largely offers more of the same Dynasty Warriors: Origins action, it's not exactly a bad thing. The four new stories presented here have lots of exciting battles to play through, and there are some new features such as Strategic Battles and additional weapons to make things feel somewhat fresh.
The Visions of Four Heroes DLC, does brilliantly to provide even more epic battles. But the four stories themselves felt underwhelming and short. With my biggest disappointment being Dong Zhou’s campaign, and a little bit of Lu Bu’s one. I think a whole DLC dedicated to the Jin army would have been a lot better compared to what we had, in more ways than one. The new strategic battles are a great way for the player to immerse themselves, and to feel like a true strategist. Although I would have liked more impact in the final fights. Maybe shorter missions due to the enemy having a smaller force, or weather events. As nothing really changes, and it comes across as padding to make up for less content. I mean, Zhang Jiao’s campaign itself is only four main missions long. The new weapons are okay. Out of the two, I would say the rope-dart feels and plays much better. I really did not get on with the bow, it felt like it didn’t offer the attack/skill variety that other weapons did. For example, most skills are buffs for the basic arrow move, but they don’t feel powerful. Lastly I hoped for more actual use of the Guardians of Peace’s vision abilities. However, it never appears beyond the introduction of the base game. In the end, as I mentioned, I think having a DLC based on the army of Jin would felt a lot better compared to what we got. As Visions of Four Heroes didn’t do much with the campaigns. So I will be giving it the Thumb Culture Silver Award.
As someone extremely sceptic about an expansion for “Dynasty Warriors: Origins” due to the way it is structured, “Visions of Four Heroes” won me over with its narrative and an excellent amount of challenge — something that the game base lacked. I just it came alongside a “New Game+” option.

Visions of Four Heroes successfully expands Dynasty Warriors: Origins without compromising the game's solid foundation. The exploration of alternative narratives serves as an interesting complement to the main campaign, offering new perspectives on classic characters and reinforcing the expansion's narrative appeal. The gameplay additions, especially the new weapons and the unique skill tree, help refresh the experience and provide good reasons to revisit the battlefields.

Dynasty Warriors has always focused on Shu, Wu, Wei, and Jin, but the "Other" factions have always been my favorite. For two decades, I have waited for the chance to join the campaign alongside Zhang Jiao, Dong Zhuo, Yuan Shao, and Lu Bu. Visions of Four Heroes finally gives these characters their own stories, and the "what if" scenarios actually deliver. Omega Force also threw in three new companions, the Bow and Rope Dart as new weapons, and a Training Ground mode that should have been in the base game from the start. At $34.99, this is worth it. If you already love Origins, just buy it.
Visions of Four Heroes is a perfect example of how DLC should be done. It expands the narrative with deep stories, new modes, and weapons that enhance the gameplay without altering its core essence. Every battle, character, and decision feels meaningful, elevating the base game to another level.

Dynasty Warriors: Origins – Visions of Four Heroes serves as a fantastic companion piece to an already great game. It takes the solid foundation of the base game and builds on it with a narrative confidence that genuinely surprised me, whilst the Strategic Battle mode adds an intriguing element that changes up the formula in some interesting ways (even if the AI can be a little iffy). It’s a generous, polished expansion that proves Omega Force is on the right track, and if you were looking for an excuse to dive back into the chaos of Dynasty Warriors: Origins… well… this is an absolute no-brainer.
A focused, dramatic return to the battlefield that proves Dynasty Warriors still knows how to make legends feel larger than life.
Dynasty Warriors: Origins Visions of Four Heroes is a great DLC that is worth its asking price, offering engaging, enhanced, and expanded combat. The narrative alone makes the DLC worth it.
Dynasty Warriors: Origins – Visions of Four Heroes feels like a somewhat half-hearted DLC when compared to the excellent main game. Each individual story is interesting, and the newly added content doesn’t look bad at first glance, but the price is far too high for the amount of content on offer, and the game’s balance has become oddly skewed. Even so, because the base game itself is so strong, the experience remains enjoyable to play.

Dynasty Warriors: Origins Visions of Four Heroes is a surprisingly well-done DLC pack that not only succeeds on a narrative level but also enhances its core gameplay. The additional routes exploring the would-be heroes are well-executed, if not a little short, and the new weapons and gameplay modes add even more enjoyment to the already addictive Musou combat.
Comprehensive, the expansion brings even more stories worth exploring in this world. It would have been interesting to see this choice system in the base game, but everything was integrated in a very dynamic way within the format presented.

Visions of Four Heroes doesn’t reinvent Dynasty Warriors: Origins, but it smartly expands its narrative world and introduces gameplay ideas that show Omega Force’s desire to experiment without losing its identity. New weapons, the central hub, and Strategic Battles are more than cosmetic additions—they mark an evolving direction for the series. Despite some limits, especially the lack of new maps, the DLC is solid, content‑rich, and offers a fresh perspective that enhances both characters and world-building. For fans of Origins, it’s a worthwhile return to the battlefield; for Omega Force, another step toward creative maturity.
