Ace Combat 8: Wings of Theve may not reinvent the series, but it delivers the most comprehensive overall package to date and presents its story more impressively than any previous entry. With a 30-mission campaign, immersive first-person cutscenes, and a stronger bond with your crew members, it offers one of the best campaigns the series has seen so far. For veterans, the new additions are somewhat limited, with only a handful of quality-of-life features and additional animations. However, if you enjoyed the previous entry, you really can’t go wrong with Ace Combat 8.

Ace Combat 8: Wing of Theves is an immensely satisfying entry in the long-running series. Between the tense air battles and great plane roster, there's something so satisfying about picking a fighter jet and rocketing into the skies. Celebrating its 30th anniversary this year, Bandai Namco's latest entry in the series delivers a best of entry with incredible single-player, thrilling multiplayer, and thrill of taking to the the skies wrapped into one game.
Ace Combat 8: Wings of Theve proves the series is still soaring high after three decades. With a strong campaign, engaging narrative, rich aircraft roster, and refined gameplay, it delivers an impressive experience for veterans and newcomers alike. Outstanding visuals and sound elevate every dogfight, and despite a few multiplayer question marks, this is a triumphant return. For anyone ready to take to the skies of Strangereal, takeoff is highly recommended.

Ace Combat 8 is precisely what hardcore arcade flight combat fans have been waiting years for: an ambitious, worthy sequel that stays fiercely loyal to its roots while dramatically elevating the franchise’s visual and technical standards. While Strangereal’s tangled narrative web and mid-mission radio chatter might still alienate newcomers—and a couple of tedious escort objectives slipped past the cutting room floor—the electrifying gameplay, superb aircraft and mission variety, and jaw-dropping next-gen fidelity far outweigh any turbulence. Project Aces has once again proven that when it comes to white-knuckle, cinematic dogfights, no competitor can contest their dominance of the skies.
