Remedy has managed to create fun mechanics in a genre they are trying for the first time. When you add in the story, which continues from the first game, the result is a really great experience. I just wish the combat encounters in the second half of the game had been less repetitive...

Control Resonant is Remedy's boldest experiment yet, successfully bringing its distinctive style to the open-world action RPG genre. Its story, characters, world design, exploration, customization and atmosphere are excellent, while the combat is merely decent and holds the experience back. Despite some compromises, its unique world and wealth of content make it difficult to put down.

Control Resonant might frustrate you at times, especially in its early hours, but the more you dig into it the more enjoyable and rewarding it becomes. Weird in the most wonderful of ways, its creativity makes it one of the highlights of the year.
The biggest obstacle is the combat's difficulty, particularly when enemies attack from outside your view or provide unclear tells. You can either adapt to the game's demanding combat or use the extensive assist options to tailor the experience to your preferences. Either way, Resonant successfully expands what a Control game can be while retaining the strange atmosphere that made the original stand out.
Control Resonant is a bold sequel in which Remedy has rebuilt the foundations of its predecessor, rather than simply offering more of the same. Brilliant combat, excellent development of Dylan’s abilities, satisfying exploration and a Manhattan brimming with abstract ideas make it hard to tear yourself away from this adventure lasting over 30 hours. Not all plot threads maintain the same pace, and the visuals aren’t as rich in detail as Alan Wake 2, but ultimately the Finnish developers have stepped out of their comfort zone and delivered an even better game.

Topping the first Control is no easy feat, and while it’s debatable if it has, the fact remains this is one of the most unique experiences, a game that trusts you enough not to spoon feed you everything and rather give you enough breathing space to figure things out yourself.

Control Resonant has a lot going for it. It's a technical and artistic achievement, with amazing visuals, memorable characters, and a lot of platforming... but it fumbles with the combat. Sadly, fighting is incredibly boring and repetitive, and fighting is something Dylan does a lot. The most frustrating and disappointing aspect of Resonant is that it's a brilliant idea that's executed so utterly flatly.
CONTROL Resonant is an excellent sequel that expands the universe of the first game, changing and adding things in a unique way without losing the essence we knew and loved. You can spend hours delving into the text and audio files scattered across the map to better understand the story. The musical elements are very appealing, making the gameplay even more immersive, as are every visual detail in the environments, some perhaps irrelevant, but still satisfying. On the other hand, the difficulty can make the experience frustrating, causing the player to feel stuck and have to leave some things behind until later. In any case, it's a must-have title for fans of the first CONTROL.

Control: Resonant is Remedy at its finest: strange, ambitious, and hard to compare to anything else. Its fantastic hack-and-slash gameplay takes a while to reveal its full potential and can feel somewhat repetitive at times, but it ultimately delivers frantic, flexible, and incredibly addictive combat. Its extraordinary mobility, the strength of its narrative, and a Manhattan capable of creating one-of-a-kind images and sensations make this sequel one of the most unique games of the year.

Strange, ambitious and often frustrating, Control Resonant pushes Remedy's formula to its limits. It won't appeal to everyone, but its strong personality makes it hard to forget.

Control Resonant is the natural, and very welcome, sequel to the experience that captivated the world seven years ago. More artistic. Bolder. More complete. And much, much more challenging.

A bolder, more aggressive evolution of Control's formula, with a shapeshifting weapon that lets you build your own playstyle. The combat is the highlight, backed by striking art direction and music, though it's easy to get lost at first.

Whereas that 2019 title was a splendid synthesis of Remedy’s signature strengths, Control Resonant‘s many failures make it seem as though it came from a different studio altogether.
Control Resonant represents the culmination of Remedy Entertainment’s ingenuity and distinctive style, elevating what we saw in the first Control and taking it to the next level. The possibilities offered in terms of gameplay are numerous and put almost any other title to shame, making you reconsider what a game can offer for a price of €59.99. Get ready, then, for an out-of-this-world experience that, much like what Valve achieved with Portal, will reshape the way you think, encouraging you to consider both space and time, ultimately culminating in one of the most satisfying experiences in recent years.

Control Resonant isn't as confidently executed as its predecessor, but the game's trippy visuals, gripping story and surreal world design put it in a league of its own, flaws and all.
CONTROL Resonant stays true to Remedy’s essence of never being afraid to take risks, completely changing the franchise’s formula to deliver one of the most creative games in recent years. It stands out thanks to an inspiring narrative, unique art direction, and movement mechanics that are completely outside the box. Unfortunately, the combat mechanics leave a little to be desired, but they in no way overshadow the brilliance of its storytelling and immersion.

Remedy has pulled off its risky gamble! *Control: Resonant* builds upon and expands the previous installment, and the dystopian Manhattan added to the action formula works well, making the game thoroughly enjoyable. You’ll need to understand its mechanics and master the various abilities, but we can say with absolute certainty that throwing yourself into the fray in a chaotic city transformed by malevolent entities has never been so immersive and exhilarating. It’s a shame about the camera work, which doesn’t always stay centered on the action, the character models that lack graphical detail, and the absence of compelling cutscenes. Nevertheless, it remains a must-play title for both fans of the series and those looking to dive into the world of Control.

Control Resonant is an excellent sequel. It clearly differentiates itself from its predecessor by revamping its combat and traversal systems, and it significantly expands its universe, allowing the open world to more vividly showcase its uniquely bizarre lore. Although the combat still leaves something to be desired, it is a highly recommended title for fans who love the franchise's world.
