Updated and enhanced gameplay, graphics and arsenal make this iconic experience of the holy trinity of guns, grenades and melee a delight from start to finish, maintaining the soul of the original while introducing modern elements that make it shine. The perfect way to rebegin the fight…again.
While I still love the flow, pacing, and the health packs of the original, since that is my main source of memories and nostalgia, I feel this is a better option for those just now getting into it. It really cemented this opinion for me when my son was gushing over the details in this game that weren’t present in the original, like being able to hijack. Is it perfect? No, there are some things that need to be ironed out because of bugs and some odd settings, but overall this is a great nostalgic trip for older fans and a great entry point for newer fans.

As someone finally getting the chance to experience one of gaming’s most iconic franchises, I’m glad I played it. The story may not have completely lived up to the legendary status it had built in my mind, but the satisfying combat, excellent weapon variety, enjoyable vehicle sections and impressive visual overhaul still make for a fun campaign.
Halo: Campaign Evolved proves that legends never fade; they simply evolve. This is not just a remake; it is the definitive way to experience where one of gaming’s greatest franchises began, and it deserves every bit of praise it receives.
Halo: Campaign Evolved is such a strong reimagining of a beloved classic that it occasionally struggles to define exactly what kind of reimagining it wants to be. At times, it’s committed to faithfully recreating the original, while at others it seems hellbent on carving out an identity of its own. Either way, it's an exceptionally polished experience that more than earns its shockingly tame price tag.
Halo: Campaign Evolved proves that great game design never truly ages. While this modern remake introduces a handful of new weapons, equipment and prologue missions, the heart of Halo remains untouched. The iconic gunplay, memorable soundtrack, excellent co-op and endlessly replayable combat sandbox are as enjoyable today as they were over twenty years ago.
