College Football 27 from EA Tiburon and EA Sports feels good in gameplay and execution, as expected, and still delivers a fantastic football experience. It stalls a bit in its additional mode innovation, despite its variety of modes, by focusing more on number-crunching than button-mashing.

This season ain’t gonna knock anybody’s socks off, and both Dynasty and Road to Glory have leaned hard into spreadsheet management this year, but smart on-field additions to an already good game make College Football 27 worth suiting up for once again.

EA Sports College Football 27 is fun to play when you're actually on the field and engaging with the game, but there's too much going on off the field to look past anymore.

Then, there’s arguably the most ridiculous, embarrassing, anti-consumer implementation of microtransactions I’ve ever seen in a sports game. EA should genuinely be ashamed about it. I like CFB 27; I just don’t trust where the road leads if EA doesn’t reverse course, and soon.

College Football 27 adds a whole lot of customization for the new year. From Road to Glory, to Dynasty mode, and even regular Play Now matches, there's something new for everyone despite a few technical hitches here and there.

EA Sports College Football 27 builds confidently on last year’s return, delivering smoother gameplay, deeper Dynasty and Road to Glory modes, and an authentic college football atmosphere. While a few minor AI and animation issues remain, its refined mechanics, enhanced presentation, and long-term replay value make it one of the strongest sports games of the year and an easy recommendation for both returning fans and newcomers.

While the foundational EA Sports College Football experience remains high-quality and slowly improving, a lack of much meaningful new content in CFB 27, headlined by the barebones Mascot Mashup, highlights how this franchise has already shown signs of stagnation, even if only in its third year back.

EA SPORTS College Football 27 returns with its main career, team-building, and side modes alongside the college game-day atmosphere. The football is still the part I enjoyed most, especially when adjusting the defence before the snap and trying to finish a close drive. Dynasty can slow down between games, and Road to Glory still doesn’t make the college career personal enough. Paid shortcuts reaching beyond Ultimate Team make those weaker stretches harder to ignore, so college football fans who care most about the action on the field should enjoy it more than those looking for deeper career modes between games.

EA SPORTS College Football 27 is a reminder that a game can be both genuinely impressive and genuinely disappointing. The developers have created a football experience worthy of praise for its smarter gameplay, deeper management systems, and outstanding atmosphere.

EA Sports College Football 27 has the best gameplay hands down. I was so excited during the reveal and the announcement of all the new features. Finally getting hands on and experiencing the new features really made my day. While some things still need work, like we need something better than this current version of ‘‘Mascot Mashup”. I still feel like love was lacking from this year’s iteration and there are so many other ways to make it better.

EA Sports College Football 27 is a leap forward in gameplay and features, particularly in Dynasty Mode. It just feels like someone missed a block downfield, which kept this big play from being explosive.

There are many elements of CFB 27 that are a giant step forward for the franchise as the game looks to meet the changing state of college football.

College Football 27 has been the hardest sports game to review in my time in the industry because so much of my time playing it has been spent feeling frustrated by the many stupid bugs and errors that waste my time. Everything in this version of the game puts enough barriers to the fun parts of Road to Glory and Dynasty to make me hope they get it fixed in future updates, or even a Day 1 patch, which would make this review functionally useless. Even then, these are the experiences I’ve had playing the game since the seven days before launch, and it’s been such a surprise that it’s hard to really describe it that well here. I’d recommend waiting to see how things go with the updates in the future, and hopefully those updates address all our problems.

With relentless innovation and dedication, EA Sports has once again raised the bar with the release of College Football 27. Enhanced AI, dynamic weather systems, and a wide array of new features create an immersive and thrilling experience. While we hope for some tweaks in the Road to Glory mode, College Football 27 unquestionably stands as one of the most exhilarating and top-tier sports games available today!

EA Sports College Football 27 is yet another iteration in the franchise, but with lots of simulation improvements in tow. The PC port is a welcome addition even with its quirks, and Dynasty players will have quite a lot of fun having to deal with a lot more expectations as they build their school to become the best in the league. ∎
