DOOM: The Dark Ages | Revelations Reviews
Revelations isn't just The Dark Ages firing on all cylinders, it's modern Doom's magic in a single bottle.
Doom: The Dark Ages’ action was already among the best in the genre, and the Revelations DLC elevates it even further by fusing it with just the right amount of Doom Eternal.
Does Doom: The Dark Ages | Revelations find the right middle-ground, or should this DLC be thrown straight into Purgatory?
The best Doom game since the 90s, that successful marries the best parts of Eternal and The Dark Ages to make a ferociously entertaining first person shooter that is one of the year’s best gaming experiences.
Revelations could be the end of the modern era of the DOOM saga, a franchise that returned from the depths of hell with the force of a thousand demons thanks to the superb work id Software has done for over a decade.

DOOM: The Dark Ages | Revelations is a brilliant expansion to an already amazing DOOM game. The levels are cleverly designed, the combat is brutal but fair, and the soundtrack is still on point.
If this marks the end of the saga that began in 2016, I am absolutely certain that the next chapter will be sensational.

DOOM: The Dark Ages - Revelations isn’t just more DOOM, it’s the culmination of everything the modern trilogy has been doing. With fantastic level design, the amazing new Chain Spear, great music, and some shockingly good story beats, you’re bound to have a blast tearing Hell a new one again.
DOOM: The Dark Ages | Revelations continues to preserve the identity of The Dark Ages while ratcheting up the intensity of combat to the nth degree. It's relentless, absurdly fun to play, and is begging any DOOM player worth their salt to get into the weeds and master it. I don't know how, but id Software have done it again.
Whether this is the end of the Slayer's story or a new beginning for id Software, Revelations is an excellent standalone experience that takes everything about The Dark Ages and elevates it in new and exciting ways.
I'm personally a little torn on Revelations. It's undoubtedly more of the fantastic DOOM combat that has made all three modern games instant classics; however, I'm not 100% sold on the choice to move back to Eternal-style combat. It definitely took a moment to re-adjust to twitchy, 1000mph mechanics, but once I got the hang of it, it was just as rewarding and engaging as any of the previous titles.
DOOM: The Dark Ages – Revelations offers a meaty new campaign for you to rip and tear your way through, complete with a new tool – the Chain Spear – which grants you greater mobility than ever before. Ultimately, it's DOOM at its best, making it a must-have.
Revelations is brutal, challenging, and surprisingly generous with what it offers. More than just an epilogue to The Dark Ages , it feels like the culmination of everything id Software has learned over the past decade.

Overall, Revelations is a much better and higher quality experience than the base game, which has a different combat philosophy.

I believe it's a substantial, must-play expansion that brings Eternal fans and those who prefer The Dark Ages together on common ground.

DOOM: The Dark Ages | Revelations doesn’t just add new missions. The Chain Lance brings back the speed and verticality familiar from Eternal, without detracting from the Slayer’s sheer power seen in the main campaign. Unfortunately, in my opinion, the storyline has its weaker moments. Fortunately, the occasionally limited variety of some locations doesn’t detract from the fact that this is a meaty, challenging and superbly designed expansion. I recommend it.

An expansion that truly expands on the base game and adds immensely to it. This Doom revival has truly given us very different experiences that nonetheless are excellent in their own ways.

The Revelations DLC does not offer any really meaningful revelations, but it gives enough to please The Dark Ages enjoyers.

DOOM: The Dark Ages | Revelations will put you to the test. And the main character, too. But it's a brutal action-packed ride that you'll really enjoy. It's an excellent expansion. Its difficulty and structure'which involves backtracking'might not be for everyone, but it's excellent.

Revelations is an excellent expansion that shakes things up and gives Doom: The Dark Ages players new mechanics to experiment with when it comes to slaughtering demons. Combined with the main campaign, this DLC makes for a more substantial and varied experience, bringing back some of the mobility from Doom Eternal that had been somewhat missing.
