Doom: The Dark Ages’ action was already among the best in the genre, and the Revelations DLC elevates it even further by fusing it with just the right amount of Doom Eternal.
Doom: The Dark Ages | Revelations does what any good DLC should do: give you more of what the base game did right, while also adding in new layers.
Revelations could be the end of the modern era of the DOOM saga, a franchise that returned from the depths of hell with the force of a thousand demons thanks to the superb work id Software has done for over a decade.

DOOM: The Dark Ages | Revelations is a brilliant expansion to an already amazing DOOM game. The levels are cleverly designed, the combat is brutal but fair, and the soundtrack is still on point.
DOOM: The Dark Ages | Revelations continues to preserve the identity of The Dark Ages while ratcheting up the intensity of combat to the nth degree. It's relentless, absurdly fun to play, and is begging any DOOM player worth their salt to get into the weeds and master it. I don't know how, but id Software have done it again.
Whether this is the end of the Slayer's story or a new beginning for id Software, Revelations is an excellent standalone experience that takes everything about The Dark Ages and elevates it in new and exciting ways.
The Revelations DLC does not offer any really meaningful revelations, but it gives enough to please The Dark Ages enjoyers.

Revelations doesn’t just passively extend the life of The Dark Ages: it corrects its most-discussed “flaw” by restoring the Slayer’s speed, agility, and freedom of movement—and it does so through a Chain Lance that has everything it takes to establish itself as one of the best ideas in the entire modern trilogy. The wealth of tools requires patience and a significant learning curve, and the new pace of gameplay raises the bar considerably, but those who accept the challenge will find one of the most deep and rewarding combat systems in the genre. This expansion impresses as much for its substance as for the sheer volume of content it offers, and it reminds us once again that when id Software decides to revisit its formula, it rarely misses the mark.

DOOM: The Dark Ages – Revelations is a textbook example of how an expansion pack can add value without simply copying the formula of the base game. Thanks to the excellent Chain Spear, strong new levels and a campaign that offers a surprising amount of content, this is a DLC that fans absolutely must not miss. Although some puzzle sections slow the pace down a little at times, the positives more than make up for the negatives. Revelations delivers exactly what you’d expect from DOOM: spectacular action, brutal combat and an absurd amount of demonic carnage, complemented by enough new ideas to keep you glued to the screen for hours on end.

The Revelations expansion managed to surpass all expectations, hopes, and dreams, creating the most complete and best experience in the DOOM series of all time. The add-on succeeded in providing a different, addictive, and fun gameplay system that relies on the spear and shield and switching between them, which surpassed the original game. It provided the best level and encounter design with distinctive ideas and a real challenge, and undoubtedly the best bosses in the series as a whole with a gigantic and highly diverse set of enemies, and a breathtaking epic soundtrack, alongside an excellent and polished progression system that benefits from meticulous exploration and smart puzzles with different ideas. This journey is only completed with the perfect and integrated End Game content that puts all your skills to the test.

Doom: The Dark Ages Revelations delivers a sharp and satisfying expansion that builds confidently on the base game with deeper combat, stunning presentation, rewarding exploration, and a challenging end game that keeps the action exciting right to the finish. A few elements like the story, complex controls, ammo scarcity, and certain enemy types fall short of the high bar set elsewhere, but they never outweigh how fun, polished, and engaging the experience is overall.
DOOM The Dark Ages - Revelations brings back the brutality, speed, and chaos that all DOOM players love, while at the same time showing us a different side of the character that loves ripping and tearing the most.
