The Witch's Bakery is close to being a great modern cozy classic, but I think it needs more time to cook. A year from now, with a few more patches and maybe DLC for other characters, The Witch's Bakery could be tidied up into a much stronger experience. I wonder if the developers bit off more than they could chew. They released simultaneously on multiple platforms. The game was delayed a few times. But I admire what Sunny Lab is doing here --- they have baked a beautiful, delightful game with a very real, emotional gooey center.

On the surface, The Witch's Bakery is a simple cosy adventure sim about a young witch running a bakery. But bite into those flaky pastry layers and you'll find a creamy centre: a narratively strong game with mental health themes. The emotional issues are handled gently, never oversimplified, and feel universal.Between Lunne 'curing' customers' Regrets and the bigger, darker storylines, this 15-hour game acknowledges that emotions are tough, and that there is no magic fix. Still, it's a reminder that when everything seems terrible, sometimes all you need is a friend to listen – and a little sweet treat.

The Witch's Bakery features a wholesome story with different types of gameplay. Lunne and Orio are a great pair who genuinely want to help the people in Paris, despite how nosy Lunne may seem. It has charm, an engaging story, and a fresh spin on the cozy bakery shop genre.

Despite its narrative and aesthetic strengths, The Witch’s Bakery has some shortcomings. Its relaxing bakery routine can become repetitive, while long conversations, carefully structured days, and slow emotional payoffs may make the pacing feel sluggish, especially for players seeking a more dynamic experience. Still, those willing to embrace its slower rhythm will find a rewarding journey wrapped in an aesthetic reminiscent of Kiki’s Delivery Service. At its heart, the game delivers an important message: there is no magical cure for emotional pain. Lunne’s magic is a tool, not a solution; true healing happens in the real world.

The Witch’s Bakery, while a very hopeful game, isn’t afraid to show us that sometimes, in order to feel the good things in life, we have to allow the bad things in too. While its incredibly optimistic, main characters could have been written as examples of toxic positivity; instead, they accept that we need to embrace all of our emotions to allow us our capacity to dream. Is this always a realistic thing to achieve? Maybe not, but it doesn’t mean we shouldn’t strive to do it anyway. It’s about the journey and all that jazz. And when such a valuable lesson comes packaged in such a beautiful, well-written package, who am I to disagree?

I am pretty sure that watching a trailer of Witch’s Bakery is enough to tell you whether or not you want to play this game. It’s a game that not only lives up to its first impression but exceeds it. Witch’s Bakery isn’t just a cozy baking sim; it’s a game filled with heart and purpose. Filled with well-written stories that you want to read in a world that you want to experience. The art style, atmosphere, and gameplay mechanics all share a singular focus: soothing your soul. Perhaps I’m over-romanticizing Sunny Lab’s thought process while making this game, but my experience with Witch’s Bakery is simple for me to describe: it made me happy. <3

The Witch’s Bakery is a gentle, story-led adventure with lovely hand-drawn art and moving character moments. The slow pace, thin management, and early bugs hold it back, but patient story lovers will enjoy it.

The Witch’s Bakery is exactly what I wanted it to be: a narrative game about magic and emotions, with plenty to see, without getting bogged down in the shop-simulation part of the game. I can’t give it our highest rating because of that bug in the bakery gameplay, but barring that, it would’ve deserved it without a doubt.

Balancing Lunne’s business, relationships, and magical growth as a Heart Witch was one of the best gaming experiences I’ve had all year.

A cosy and cute Kiki's Delivery Service-inspired baking adventure where baking stuff and healing hearts go hand in hand, all wrapped up in a gorgeous hand-drawn Paris.
