Joe & Mac Retro Collection Reviews
Joe & Mac Retro Collection is a pleasant return to the times when the great pixelated heroes threw punches and healed themselves by eating mammoth thighs.

The Joe & Mac: Retro Collection is an excellent assortment of three prehistoric platformers (and I don't mean that just because they're retro).
All three SNES games in the Joe and Mac series in a single package
Joe & Mac Retro Collection is a solid compilation of a couple chaotic co-op games and a super-fun solo spin-off that'll have you bonking dinos with your club for hours. They may not be top-notch titles but a lot of love was poured into this package for sure. 🍖
This is a very interesting compilation that brings together the first three games in the series. If you were a fan of the original arcade game, classic games, or owned one of the home versions as a kid, this compilation is truly made for you. All three games feature their own borders, save and rewind options, a CRT filter, and more. The collection also includes a bit of history about the games’ development, presented through sketches and designs of the original boxes and cartridges. The option for local co-op further enhances the experience. However, on the downside, I have to point out that there’s no option for online co-op.

The Joe & Mac Retro Collection does a simple, well-executed job, presenting beloved games in a competent manner that respects their legacy. The trilogy itself is quite fun and well worth revisiting for a nostalgic gaming session.

Joe & Mac Retro Collection brings together three classic platforming adventures that still have plenty of charm, especially for fans of retro games. While some mechanics feel dated, I enjoyed revisiting these prehistoric heroes and reliving childhood memories. On PS5, it's a great opportunity to rediscover a piece of gaming history.
Joe & Mac Retro Collection is a welcome trip down memory lane, bringing back the charm of classic gaming adventures. Its main strengths include the inclusion of three complementary titles, an enjoyable couch co-op mode, and the timeless appeal of its retro pixel art, enhanced by useful modern save features.

Whether you will love the games themselves might not yield the same result for everyone, but in terms of presentation and nostalgia/fan factor, this is definitely a winner. There are different versions of this retro collection, but the average price tag is around 40 euros. Personally, I don't find this cheap, but if you are really interested in this retro edition, and because it is really well presented, it might well be worth it.

This is a great collection, both for those nostalgic for the Super Nintendo era and for anyone looking to discover a trio of fun, straightforward platformers. However, modern game collections—such as those offered by Digital Eclipse and M2—have set a high standard for the inclusion of documentary material, which is sadly absent from the Joe & Mac Retro Collection. We also regret the omission of the Arcade, NES, Game Boy, and other versions of the original game.

The Joe & Mac Retro Collection does exactly what it promises, and it does it well. It is a carefully curated trip down memory lane, where every thoughtful touch in the porting process enhances the experience without betraying it.
