Guilty Gear Xrd -Revelator- serves as a worthy expansion/sequel to Sign in many ways.

If you're looking to get into beat-em-ups and can stomach anime and J-rock then this is a good place to start your education.

Guilty Gear XRD Revelator feels more like an expansion than a legitimate sequel, but this isn't a bad thing, as the fighting is still highly engaging and the numerous teaching materials allow newer players to get up to speed nicely. No English dub after Sign's decent dub is a bit of a black mark, but if you're not bothered by fighters in an anime style, Guilty Gear XRD Revelator is the best of the bunch.

Right now, Xrd proper is teetering around $30 or less -- a little more if you buy all the DLC. It's debatable whether or not Revelator is worth another full 60 bones on PS4 if you only lightly touched the original, but between this and Street Fighter V, I'm set for a long while. Plus, I'm sure all the "no Jam, no buy" fans don't mind the $60 price of admission.

Still the best looking fighting game around, and although this isn't a full sequel its new features and extra fighters still make it a welcome update.

Guilty Gear Xrd -REVELATOR- will hopefully help usher in a new era of fighting games. One where new players are encouraged to learn what makes the genre special, and feel invited. It's training tools raise the bar at which other fighters are measured to, and it's a real triumph in that regard. Whether you're a veteran or a newcomer, there's a lot to learn here.

Guilty Gear Xrd Revelator will have zero complaints from new and experienced players, but Xrd Sign players who are less bothered about roster updates will find less to enjoy.

It's an absolute joy to play and one that I believe will stand head and shoulders above the rest of the anime fighting game crowd for some time to come.

Guilty Gear Xrd -REVELATOR- is easily the king of fighting games released up to this point, at least in this generation. It's not only accessible for new players but keeps the hardcore players satisfied as well. Arc System Works has outdone themselves with their fantastic art and animations. The additions of new and old characters are welcome to the already vast and unique lineup of fighters and it's awesome and daring story mode is what makes -REVELATOR- my favorite fighting game to come along this generation.

Guilty Gear Xrd -REVELATOR- offers up a wonderfully entertaining, complex game, and the addition of stylish mode makes it the perfect starting point for those looking get into Guilty Gear. It's addictive, frenetic, and varied, not to mention absolutely stunning. If you already own Guilty Gear Xrd -SIGN-, you may have to take a harder look at this improved package, but for everyone else, this is one of the very best fighters on the market.

Guilty Gear Xrd –Revelator- makes some amazing innovations in tutorials, lobbies, modes, and new characters that no one will notice because there simply isn't enough here to warrant purchasing the game again at full price. It's a shame, too, because many fighting games can learn from its exhaustive teaching tools.

Guilty Gear Xrd: -Revelator- is a nostalgic look back on the golden age of fighting games that also manages to wrangle a ton of modern digital beauty and function into the mix. The result is a top notch fighting title that begs to be mastered. That mastery will not be an easy ride, but with the gorgeous design, heavy music, and plenty of fun, it will be easy to overlook the very frustrating, but minor control issues. Lay off the junk, and run to the sexy rock- and- roll violence of Guilty Gear Xrd: -Revelator- instead.

Rounding it all out, Guilty Gear Xrd -REVELATOR- adds enough new content to appeal to both hardcore and casual fighting game fans alike. Although the game isn't as much an evolution of the franchise as Guilty Gear Xrd -SIGN- was at its release, it's still more than easy enough to recommend.

An excellent fighting engine, superb visuals, incredible teaching tools, and ridiculous design chops make Guilty Gear -REVELATOR- one of the best fighting games around. Those who are happy with -SIGN- may balk at the price, but everyone else, from fans to newcomers, should be more than happy with what's on offer. If you're ready to rock, Guilty Gear is happy to oblige.

This is the best Guilty Gear title in the series, hands down. If you're new to the franchise, this is the perfect game to start from. If you're a longtime fan, this should be a no-brainer.
