This fusion of visual novel of rhythm game isn't exactly perfect, but speaking as someone who loves Persona (and Shoji Meguro's work in particular), I really enjoyed my time with this one. It might be pure fan service, but sometimes maybe that's enough.
Persona 4: Dancing All Night has some big negatives against it, including a short song list and rough difficulty. But it's a ton of fun, the music is great, and the visuals are top notch. It's great for Persona fans. But, for everyone else, it's a tough sell.
Persona 4: Dancing All Night proves yet another success in branching out to another genre for the folks at Atlus. If not for the relatively short list of songs and lack of multiplayer, this could’ve easily been the premier rhythm game on the Vita.
Packed full of the charm and character that you'd expect from the series, Persona 4 Dancing All Night is a thoroughly entertaining rhythm game that could warm even the coldest heart. With an understandably focused choice of music, a large part of the enjoyment you'll get from this title will rest on how much you like its particular brand of upbeat audio, which admittedly won't be to everyone's taste. If, however, you're a Persona 4 fan – who also owns a Vita – then this is undoubtedly for you, and while it may not be the best example of the rhythm genre out there, it certainly has the most personality.
Dancing All Night is a joy to play and a powerful nostalgia trip for Persona 4 fans, but it’s slim on content in a way that could limit universal appeal.
Although it seems to lack the production value and spectacle of the genre’s heavy hitting Project Diva series, Persona 4: Dancing All Night makes up for that with narrative substance, use of an IP already adored by millions and a soundtrack that has something for everybody, all topped with a certain polish unique to Atlus and the Persona series.
It's probably the largest departure from the core concept a franchise has ever received, yet somehow, Persona 4 Dancing All Night manages to be everything fans could possibly have hoped for.
Dancing All Night looks like it’s set to be the final game before we have to say goodbye to our favorite cast of characters in Persona 4, and I’m perfectly fine with that. The Investigation Team solves one more mystery, and they’ve once again reminded us never to lose sight of our ‘true selves’. I’d say that’s a job well done.
Overall, Persona 4: Dancing All Night offers a fresh take on the rhythm genre with a unique interface as well as a meaty story featuring the beloved cast. If you loved Persona 4 and want more stories about the gang and are a fan of rhythm games such as Hatsune Miku Project Mirai DX to boot, getting this is a no-brainer.
It may not have the depth that some will desire, but after spending dozens of hours in the Free Dance mode alone, I had a great time. The presentation is what this game capitalizes on, which should be enough for players to take notice. For the fans, this comes highly recommended.
Ultimately, your level of reverence will determine whether Persona 4: Dancing All Night becomes an instant purchase.
Persona 4: Dancing All Night is an amazing rhythm game with incredible music that even had me singing along. While I didn't really like the storytelling or the low amount of songs in the game, I still enjoyed my time spent with the game.
Ultimately, this is one game that’s difficult to judge fairly, and is really going to depend on the person playing. However, the game is definitely a study rhythm game with plenty of merit to warrant picking it up if you’re a fan of Persona games, or even if you just want another rhythm game to play.
'Persona 4: Dancing All Night' is a good game, but it's also a game that's likely only going to appeal to a specific subset of people. Mainly, it's those that are really into the world of 'Persona' and the characters of 'Persona 4' are going to be charmed by this title, and Atlus has made 'Dancing All Night' exactly with that in mind. Unlike 'Persona 4 Arena', whose fighting game mechanics can still have a widespread appeal, this rhythm game is regulated to a more narrow audience. That's an important and viable choice. The game is by no means wanting for personality, but those that aren't invested heavily into the 'Persona' franchise might be better off looking to another rhythm title to satiate their needs.
Persona 4: Dancing All Night maintains the high pedigree the Persona series is known for while still being its own thing. Fans of both rhythm games and all things Persona will find a lot to love here – and who knows, maybe you’ll learn a move or two too.
It was a bit surprising when Persona 4: Dancing All Night was announced and everyone learned the newest Persona spin-off would be a rhythm title. A rhythm game with Persona imagery draped over it is a bit bizarre, but even more bizarre is how thoroughly entertaining it is. It is a really competent rhythm game at its core, with solid mechanics and a stellar track list. Fans of Persona 4 absolutely should join along for Yu's latest adventure, but this really isn't a game for just Persona fans. This is an enjoyable title with a fun story, plenty of camp value, and an extremely entertaining and replayable series of songs that just happens to feature everyone's favourite Persona 4 characters. There are some minor issues, but the overall package is so well made that it is easy to forget some occasional game design wonkiness. At this point, it is worth checking out pretty much anything Atlus puts out with the Persona title attached to it, because if they can conquer the rhythm genre, they should be able to do just about anything. PS Vita owners might be getting desperate for some exclusive titles, but Persona 4: Dancing All Night is a title that was worth waiting up for.
The soundtrack is absolutely brilliant… even if you haven’t heard them before, you’ll undoubtedly be humming them all day as they’re incredibly catchy and infectious
Overall, this was a great Vita game and it's just as great on PlayStation 4 although it's still the same game so if you already own it then it may not be worth getting again.
Persona 4: Dancing All Night was the original Persona Dancing experience, having released on the PlayStation Vita back in 2015. While I didn't finish it then, I have since finished it now on the PlayStation 4, and seeing this through to completion really made me miss all of these characters. I'm itching for a new Persona 4 story to be told.
Persona 4: Dancing All Night is another good Persona 4 spin-off following the heels of the Arena fighting games and Persona Q that makes good on the story and style personality that you expect.
