Hitman - Episode 5: Colorado Reviews
Not the best or most intricate level, but a welcome departure from previous episodes.
As a penultimate episode to the first season, Freedom Fighters makes an effective statement, even though there are flaws in its execution.
You very rarely get to relax in Colorado. Someone’s always thinking about feeling your collar, and unlike some of the other maps, there’s almost nowhere to run away to if you get found out. The bastards are everywhere. It’s tenser and even more difficult than its predecessors as a result. This is much more of a pure stealth map.
The targets are harder to kill and the environment isn’t as pretty as previous missions, but Colorado offers excellent gameplay and tons of replayability.
Hitman’s latest Colorado mission is quite a change up from the traditional classy missions seen earlier, but the new formula does not exactly work for 47. While the emphasis is on maximum stealth, there will be times where you just give up and shoot everyone.

Although I won’t be making too many return visits, the incentive is still there to dive straight back in.
In a way, even with their flaws, all of the maps so far have felt like they've added something to the overall package of Hitman outside of Colorado. I hope Japan is better, but Hitman even does filler right.
A slight improvement on the disappointing Bangkok level, but the lack of traditional Hitman thrills don’t make this a mission to remember.
Hitman: Episode 5 - Colorado may not be as impressive or vibrant as Sapienza or Bangkok, but it brings its own new take to the game. With a newfound focus on stealth, sniping, and uniforms, this latest mission does well to bring back memories of the sneakier Hitman of old, but some frustrations and annoyances due to the difficulty are present.
Not the most visually appealing episode, but Colorado has its own charms and sees the story come to the forefront, if a little too late to have the impact it desires.
The autumn trees and serene color palette that blends in with the military outfits was a welcome change of pace from the mansions and coastal riviera’s of past episodes.
Hitman's purest stealth episode so far is a white-knuckle ride of espionage and action amidst the backdrop of enemy territory, as Agent 47 finally begins to uncover the threads of a season-long conspiracy.
The challenge is well executed here, but the weakness in Hitman’s episodic structure starts to show with how out of place this chapter feels in context with the previous missions.
The Colorado Episode sets the example by which future episodes should be judged by. Combining a larger map with some extra complexity and the satisfaction of finally learning some of the ensuing plot that finally ties in 47, the episode is hopefully a promise of things to come.
This is a game for the fans. If you loved the previous episodes you'll love this one.
Episode 5 is a breath of fresh air for Hitman, after the not-so-brilliant missions in Marrakesh and Bangkok. This chapter is harder and you need to be smart in order to take down more targets than ever. Still, we enjoy 47 more when he has to infiltrate some civilian mansion and not a militarised orchard.

Despite its low points, the tension that permeates 'Colorado' works tremendously in its favor, leading to a more consistently enjoyable 'Hitman' episode than 'Bangkok', which remains a low point for the game. While there isn't nearly as much personality or humor as there perhaps should have been, there's still plenty of fun and excitement to be found within the militia camp. It's also the biggest leap forward for the story thus far, and builds toward what should be a tremendous climax when the game's final episode hits next month.
Hitman: Episode 5 - Colorado is the most straightforward level so far, meaning that one can't get too creative here; it's just sneak, disguise, observe, kill, sneak, disguise, observe, kill. That being said, it's a darn good episode. Being a military base, danger is everywhere, the tension is stronger, and the difficulty higher. Most importantly, however, it's not the same thing all over again. It's a unique level that manages to stand out from the rest, and mostly in a good way.
I do love a game that puts up a challenge, and for that, Hitman Episode 5: Colorado didn’t disappoint. There will be times that I get bored with stealth games, but this episode puts my mind and strategy into a test.
Hitman: Episode 5 – Colorado is a great attempt at recapturing the magic that the Paris and Sapienza levels had earlier this year. While not quite on that level, it is a much needed improvement over Marrakesh and Bangkok, and one that will keep players coming back until the final episode is released.
