For want of a better term, What Remains of Edith Finch is a playable family tree. Hidden revelations and unpredictable tragedies complement what is an unnerving but somehow warming experience.

What Remains of Edith Finch proves once again how unique a storytelling in videogames can be. It's a short but incredible experience which brings out a lot of emotions. It pushes the genre forward and kind of makes the term 'walking simulator' nonsensical and meaningless. Don't deny yourself the walkthrough, you won't regret it.

What Remains of Edith Finch grabs the player's attention until the end, to wonder what the hell happened with the Finch family. Along with Edith, the last Finch alive, the player experiences the last moments of various family members, going through different generations. Each memory fills in a tiny gap of the mystery, which, in the end, is not what matters the most. What's really important here are the rich experiences that each moment conveys, by means of the story itself or by the diversity of gameplay mechanics applied on each of them. It's a worthwhile title.

"What Remains of Edith Finch" is a short but impressive experience. After the last Giant Sparrow's game namely "The Unfinished Swan" which was released five years ago, this company proves their talent in introducing new ideas in gameplay and narrative once again. Both mentioned games depict a positive and admirable view in life values in an appealing and creative way. If you are pursuing a short but impressive and thoughtful experience in order to find more about life and death, with no doubt the story of Edith Finch is made for you

Independent, story-driven games are not quiet popular among majority of gamers but if you give What Remains of Edith Finch a chance, you're in for a unique, unforgettable experience. The Finch's dreams and memories pack so much creativity in them; the kind you can find nowhere else. What Remains of Edith Finch is at the apex of storytelling in video games.

All in all, What Remains of Edith Finch is a solid experience. You're going to play through it once, which makes the $20 price tag a little difficult to swallow, but it's a well-made and interesting experience that does an excellent job in evoking emotions. The plot is slightly inconsistent, but it more than makes up for it with style. It's absolutely worth the time it takes to play through, and even if every beat doesn't hit, enough of them do to be worth your time. It won't change your mind if you dislike the "walking simulator" genre, but if you're a fan, then Edith Finch is a great experience.

What Edith Finch has achieved on a whole new level is an overarching brilliance and consistency of both theme and gameplay, in how the two seamlessly intertwine and feed off each other. I strongly expect that this game will be used for years to come as a 'textbook' case to educate developers about how to compose a story by not resorting to screeds of text or long loops of audio (in the form of simulated manuscripts, letters, voice recordings etc.); almost tauntingly, in one story, the letter-being-read crutch is used, but subverted ingeniously through the gameplay.

What Remains of Edith Finch is a good game, but it fails to arrive at a satisfying conclusion, or build on its gameplay and narrative themes in any satisfying way. Thus, it never elevates itself to be something more than a series of interesting distractions, tied to a mystery that never resolves itself.

A unique experience filled with imaginative and visually rich stories that will make you think but won't necessarily go back to once it's over.

What Remains of Edith Finch is one of the best interactive story adventure that I have ever played. It takes the user on a thrilling ride full of mystery, twists and drama. Unfortunately the game suffers from some technical issues that might sour the overall experience.

What Remains of Edith Finch tells a frank and brutal story and challenges you with memorable puzzles. all in all It could be one of the purest experiences in video games history, although shallow characterizations have kept it from being flawless.

This is about how you born, how you live and how you die. A game about life and death. A game that makes you think about your life. About “What will remain of me?!” No puzzles, No challenges. You are free to follow one of the saddest stories you’ve ever heard. A big house is yours to explore and find the stories of the people who lived there one day. Every member of the family has a story and Giant Sparrow really knows how these stories should be told.

Giant Sparrow had me worried about What Remains of Edith Finch with how quiet the game was for several years but I see now they were just working on nailing every little inch of this game. The story of Edith and her family is going to be one I remember for a long time. The characters, house, music, voice acting, and narrative all came together beautifully and I encourage anyone that is a fan of story games to play this game and do it knowing as little as possible.

Melancholy, thoughtful and as uplifting as it is heart-breaking, it felt good to visit the Finch family and remember them again. There’s nothing but love in these walls, even amongst the sadness.

What Remains of Edith Finch is a typical walking simulator, which in terms of mechanics, does not differ much from such representatives of the genre as Gone Home or even Everybody's Gone to the Rapture.

What remains of Edith Finch is a masterpiece, even for people who don’t like video games; the great narrative, coupled with a great concept and a perfect sound and graphical aspect, makes the game a great package, only faulting in the difficulty and longevity department.
