Although the remastered work it's just correct, all the changes and additions (especially those from the International Zodiac Job System) makes The Zodiac Age the definitive version of one of the most underrated and special Final Fantasy.

Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age, despite my misgivings, is a triumph that still holds up all these years later. Modern conveniences like upping the tempo of combat are far more valuable than the new coat of paint, and despite a slow-going narrative it's a blast to just roam the open countryside, mess around with Gambits, and go on hunts. Slowly but surely XII has wormed its way into my heart -- it only took 11 years.

Nintendo Switch y Xbox One are now home to the best FFXII version, a port that contains all the new elements from The Zodiac Age edition for PS4 and adds some requested functions, like the job licenses' reset. And, don't forget, the Switch version it's the only one that you can play on portable mode, a fact that some of us can't resist to...

Today as thirteen years ago FInal Fantasy XII is still a great game, blessed by an innovative combat system and a great and vibrant world. Maybe the story is not as grasping as others, but it still a pleasure ti play.

Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age is an excellent example of a holistic approach to producing a well-made remaster. Not only does it feature the usual remaster fare of significantly improved visuals up to their maximum capabilities but it also includes significant and positive improvements and additions to its audio and gameplay that take into consideration both its past strengths and weakness, the resources of the current times, and both its past and current potential audience. Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age is undoubtedly a remaster worth playing for both newcomers and fans of the original.

Despite it all, I'd still say Final Fantasy XII is a good game. Its combat is almost entirely automated, but it's designed by you thanks to the programmable Gambit system, while character progression through the job system is deep and open to creativity.

Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age on PC is an excellent port and the definitive version of the game, thanks to a variety of additional options not found in the original PlayStation 4 release, such as the ability to activate cheats, play in New Game + mode from the beginning, graphics customization and the absence of any major issue. The gameplay changes also found in last year's release make the game much more enjoyable than the original PlayStation 2 release, such as the ability to speed up gameplay and the multiple License Boards. Ivalice has never looked better.

Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age is an example of a great remaster that corrects the flaws of the original version, allowing you to get true pleasure. Even eleven years after the release, the game feels fresh and in almost all respects surpasses the Final Fantasy XIII and Final Fantasy XV. Even if you was disappointed with the original release for some reason, be sure to give the game a second chance. The Zodiac Age bersion is simply gorgeous.

Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age is a near perfect reworking of a PS2 masterpiece. The game's not without its minor flaws, but overall, this is a startling reminder of how magical Square's beloved series can be.

If you played Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age back in the day and want to go back for nostalgia, you'll love this. If you're a new player interested in playing for the first time – keep in mind that this is definitely a game that shows its age. Though, if you have sufficient patience, it's a story well worth investing in.

Final Fantasy XII – The Zodiac Age is far from the perfect game, but it is one of the few in the series I bothered to complete. From its lofty melodrama and rewarding combat and character systems to its missed story beats and sloggy late-game, it's an adventure I will not soon forget. More importantly, it's one I do not want to forget, which is more than I can say for almost every entry in the series released since this game first saw light 11 years ago.
