Old Man's Journey Reviews
Old Man's Journey is not as emotionally charged as its developer wants you to believe it is, but at least the landscapes that said old man will tread through are beautiful and fit like a glove with the vibe of each moment encountered. Unfortunately, what could be a nice and easy-going, if not a little forgettable, experience, turns into an hour and a half of boredom, due to the needless, and simplistic, puzzle-solving included.
It deserves to be in an art museum, where it would fare much better and receive more acclaim.
Old Man's Journey is such a gorgeous looking title, complete with a beautiful soundtrack. Those aspects are then draped over a moderately engaging puzzle idea, and comes with a story that aims to be touching, but will leave many feeling either apathetic to the theme, or actually frustrated by the progression of the old man's life and foolish choices. It also ends extremely quickly with nothing to come back to after. It will pass and fade away quicker than it should, but deserves to receive an expanded sequel (or prequel, perhaps?).
Within these images, we see the steps of life being laid out. A man meeting a girl. Surprising her with a boat trip. Nothing in these images is interactive, but they each encapsulate a sense of wonder and nostalgia. They reward exploration and intrigue in the scenes. Small mannerisms and gestures from the central character, before and after these images are shown, add a wealth of personality to his two-dimensional form and go a long way to creating a rounded persona, and experience, that is entirely endearing.
Visually breathtaking with a story which will make you reflect on life itself and the journey we are all on. This is an emotional adventure which will make you think once the credits roll. Buy this game when you have a couple of hours to spare and want something of a more relaxing nature. I do have an issue with the price and if you're looking for lots of gameplay action and challenge then look elsewhere as this will not offer you that. Some brief puzzles yes but that's as far as it goes. As a visual novel, this is short, compact and certainly does not outstay it's welcome. In that regard a resounding success.
Old Man's Journey is an unbelievably sweet game that can make you think and ends sooner than you'd start getting bored with it.

If you're looking for something substantial in the gameplay department, Old Man's Journey probably isn't for you. Its main mechanic is neat, but it doesn't build upon it and due to the lack of any surrounding substance, you'll be left feeling short changed. But for those that connect with it, Old Man's Journey will offer up a memorable experience that comes equipped with a meaningful message and a stunning graphical palette.
An emotional journey that, despite its short duration, will make you experience a memorable story that you won't forget.

Some puzzles are found along the way, but finding the gentleman's true purpose is what the journey is truly about. If it clicks with you, you will likely walk with the same appreciation I did. The message is truly wonderful, and that left me a little satisfied at the very least.
Old Man's Journey is a simple game that might make you cry if you have any emotions left in you. It's cheap, beautiful and only takes 2 hours to complete.

Even with its heartfelt tale, Old Man’s Journey felt less like a game one can get invested in and more like something to be played, say, on a long bus trip. It does come with beautiful levels that feel like large paintings which, coupled with the soundtrack, have the ability to draw you in their world.
A beautiful journey to reflect on life and the consequences of your adult choices, Old Man's Journey is a fabulously well drawn and animated interactive novel from Broken Rules studios. It might be too easy, and lacks on the gameplay front to justify the buy for some, but it's still a sweet, yet short-lived experience.
While quite short, Old Man’s Journey tells a wonderful, if not emotional, story with little puzzles to solve along the way. The graphics present a lovely, transformable landscape that is very aesthetically pleasing and the music fits perfectly with each setting. Unfortunately, as expected with a linear, story based game like this, replayability is not something that is to found here. In addition, the game, whose price is nearly twice as much as other devices, has no extra content that can’t be found elsewhere, which is too bad. Even with that in mind, Old Man’s Journey and the story it tells gets a very emotional 4 out of 5.
I’d say the moral of Old Man’s Journey relates well in a somewhat tangential way to my review thoughts. Your time is precious, so be sure to make the most of it and try not to give yourself things to regret. The further along in your own life and experiences you are the easier it is to recommend it wholeheartedly as its story will likely hit you quite a few ways right in the feels. The younger you are it is probably harder to justify since that shifts more responsibility to the adequate-but-not-incredble puzzle aspects of it. Old Man’s Journey fits well into the Switch library with its own distinct story to tell complemented by outstanding art and satisfying puzzles.
Old Man's Journey is without a doubt quite the charming game with emotional undertones and stunning artwork. The memories alone are worth seeing. This is the type of game that anyone can play and relate to even if some the events shown aren't any that one has gone through personally. It's about 2 hours, but depending on how you view that, it's the price of movie ticket, but you also get to keep the game in your library. It's a good one to play with family and friends just about anywhere and the art alone is worth to keep. I would love to see another type of this game expanded on in the future.
A short and charming adventure. A lifetime journey through regrets. Two points of view on the same story, and each of them has every right to exist. One of the most beautiful games of the year is paradoxical. On the one hand, it is notably lacking in detail and depth — at least give us the names of the characters. On the other hand, it is a perfectly coherent statement, all details of which perfectly complement each other.

Old Man's Journey proposes a unique experience that features an interesting plot, a magnificent visual component and a series of challenges that will quickly conquer the player. While its lifespan my feel short and its price a bit too steep, Old Man's Journey is another game that is more than worthy of an opportunity and which deserves its place within the Nintendo Switch.

Simplicity is the biggest strength of Old Man's Journey. It doesn't require you to be a genius or a master gamer, but to have a penchant for something more oft-kilter. That it manages to be a satisfying experience all without saying a single word is remarkable and definitely worth a look.
Old Man's Journey is sweet and undemanding
Though Old Man's Journey is a short adventure, it's a gorgeous and memorable one thanks to its heartfelt storytelling and intriguing puzzles.
