There is potentially a fun game underneath, but Citadel: Forged with Fire is mired in a relentless time-draining loop of meaningless activity

An very interesting MMORPG in its approach but short in its execution. Ideal for magic lovers, but the rest will find it devoid of emotion. It has many technical errors and it brings nothing really new to the genre beyond the use of magic for everything.

A MMORPG with an interesting approach but a pretty conventional execution. If you are fan of spells, magic creatures and broomstick flights, Citadel: Forged With Fire is the invitation letter to a magic world you've been waiting for.

Citadel: Forged With Fire has an interesting, even fun, premise lurking through some of the rough edges. A game like this is most fun when played with others, especially when you consider that on most servers, the things you build will be available for all players on that server to see. The lack of much in the way of content, though, means players are left to their own devices and imagination when it comes to interesting things to see and do. Still, if combining Minecraft, ARK, and Harry Potter-inspired elements in a cauldron sounds appealing, then by all means grab a friend (or 49) and hop in.

Citadel: Forged with Fire is a good game, but needs more polish.

I didn’t mind Citadel. It was the first of its style that I have ever actually played. I now realize the open world sandbox “do whatever you want” kind of games are not really for me, but I can easily see fans of this genre can have some fun here even with the shallow quest system, some clunky controls and the technical issues.

Citadel: Forged with Fire is a game that manages to strike powerfully at the impulse to go spend some time in nature. The wild life are fun to watch from a distance, the water lapping on the shores of the lakes and oceans feel calming in the same way lounging at a beach in life can be, and drifting through the skies on the wings of flight potions and fast brooms is an experience that’s hard to find fault with.

Citadel: Forged With Fire does a great job in aspects like big world, nice magic powers and variety of quests, but it has also lots of technical problems and weak story-telling. It is not a must play RPG But if you like fantasy-RPGs and specially if you love magic elements, Citadel: Forged With Fire would be a good choice for you to enjoy. After all, it's all about magic.

Citadel: Forged With Fire has merit in proposing a classic MMORPG experience with dragons, wizards, orcs, bear and lots of medieval fantasy. It offers a challenging and often fascinating open world sandbox, even though it has some conceptual, technical and aesthetic limitations. Finally, it brings good fighting, construction, and riding mechanics, but it could be more pretentious in narrative terms.

If you’re a fan of Minecraft, Ark, Rust or any of those open world sandbox-with-crafting games than this’ll be up your wizard’s sleeve. If you need direction or some sort of narrative to drive you, you won’t find it here.

Desperately searching for fun, we hung out in the starting zone, hoping to interact with a few players. In the starting zone itself is a safety bubble--like a force field protecting the new players. This is great, but the moment you stepped out--it was curtains for you. Mid to high, and even some braver low level players camped out at the edge of the bubble, waiting for some daft adventurer to cross its threshold. It became very clear that ambushing unsuspecting new players was the fun to be had in Citadel: Forged with Fire. You could make it past one of these malicious players, but once in the wild, you face enemies that never lose aggro, unclear or no instruction as to what to do or build and strange bugs that begged to be squashed.

If you have an interest in PvP. I think Citadel will provide you with an experience not found elsewhere. All while giving you a fun and fantastical magical world, great building system and marvelous spell crafting. Just keep in mind the baggage that comes with the genre. You will die, your base will be destroyed at some point. You will win and you will lose.
