Seven hours or so after starting your adventure the main quest will be over, but it speaks volumes that you'll probably still want to go and explore the world and grow stronger still. It's not because Cat Quest is deep or meaningful, it's because it's just fun, and that's all a game needs to be.

This is a game that is aware of its goofy setup and relishes in a sea of cat puns and insanity. It's not a terribly long game - I rolled credits within a few hours - but it's a fun romp with a straightforward and entertaining action RPG style. Cat Quest is a game that likely won't stick with me for too long, but it was a pleasant time basking in cat gags and beating up on foes with swords and magic.

I'm glad that this is not a game that outstays its welcome, but at the same time it's not a game I'll remember, beyond that adorable skipping run of my adorable little furrball.

Cat Quest is an ideal little RPG to introduce to youngsters, especially given the charming pun-filled script and plentiful kitties, but those jumps in difficulty can mean a helping hand may be required on more than a few occasions. Despite its looks, though, the older generation with a love for all things feline will find a lovely, if short, Zelda-like adventure worth giving a go.

Whether you're a cat lover or not, Cat Quest creates an ideal blend of charming graphics and traditional hack-and-slash gameplay. Despite holding back on a few things, the satisfying combat and convenient loot system show that The Gentlebros have a tremendous understanding of RPG mechanics and – to let the cat out of the bag – it could pawsibly be my favourite game of the year.

Despite a few drawbacks, this light RPG hides a challenging and worthwhile experience under its cute exterior.

While somewhat flawed and sprinkled with some minor annoyances, such as treasure boxes demanding back-tracking to unlock, and a lack of a proper quest log, [i]Cat Quest[i] succeeds with what it has to and is meant to be - being a fun game filled with cat puns without ever giving the player reasons to forget this. It is adorable, quirky, fun, cute, clever, and cool all at the same time, just like the cats it is inspired by. It truly shows that oftentimes less is more.

Cat Quest offers cute visuals, solid RPG action, and an overall charming feline adventure, and it's best enjoyed in bursts to avoid the otherwise repetitive quest structure.

Cat Quest is an excellent and charming action RPG for all ages. Combat is enjoyable, and the usual elements in the genre, like inventory control and stat tracking, never become overwhelming. The quests flow smoothly into one another, and the adventure is just the right length. Most of all, the game is charming, and despite the story and game mechanics not delving too deep, thisis a title you'll want to keep playing until it's 100% complete. For adventure and action-RPG fans, Cat Quest is a must-have.

Still, it’s an above-average trek down a narrow and familiar path; a dalliance not to be furgotten. If you enjoy classic Zelda games, cute cats, and bad puns, give it a chance. (Especially if there are kids around.)

Whilst Cat Quest doesn’t offer an in depth RPG experience that smashes through the boundaries of game design, it doesn’t stop it offering a thoroughly entertaining adventure to embark on. It prides itself on its simplicity with almost all aspects of the game having an easily accessible feel, yet it is thanks to this approach that the game feels so satisfying to play and easy to find yourself hooked into. Add to that the charming game world and it’s hard not to find yourself absorbed into this tale of felines and Dragons. It’s over fairly quickly and doesn’t do anything that’ll blow you away, but overall Cat Quest offers a charming little adventure that even the most hardcore of RPG purrr-ists will be able to enjoy.

Overall I really have enjoyed my time with Cat Quest and am impressed that the humor and theming is simply icing on the cake and not a replacement for solid gameplay. While it isn’t a hardcore game by any means I think its light action is pretty compelling and very well-suited to the portability of the Switch. If you’re in search of a very light action RPG that has a plentiful amount of charm Cat Quest is quite satisfying.

Cat Quest is a little game inspired by the Legend of Zelda, full of furry adorable creatures and witty humor. For its little price, I would jump in and not judge the book by its cover, as this Action-RPG has more quality content than some of the biggest AAA releases nowadays.

Cat Quest is a purr-leasing experience that pits cats against dragons in table-top action adventure. The combat provides engaging feedback whilst the cat-izens offer plenty of – mostly humorous – cat-based puns that both draw you into the world of Felingard.

Did I mention that as a cat you have to fight an army of dragons controlled by an evil mage? I’m not kidding, it’s a purrfect combination of crazy and fun. It’s pawsome. The cat’s pajamas. It’s refreshing to find a game that doesn’t take itself seriously, but can also deliver interesting takes on tried and tested video game tropes that stay entertaining.

Cat Quest is a great top-down cute Diablo style game which anyone of all ages can enjoy. It has a solid combat mechanic, a great story and a decent amount of content. After a while, some of the requests can get a bit re-pet-etive but this is quickly resolved by the game throwing in new enemies and abilities to play with.

Cat Quest is, without a doubt, one of the most charming and adorable games in the eShop library. And while its combat system and core gameplay can become a bit repetitive at times, its storytelling and brevity still allow it to be an enjoyable experience from start to finish.

The Gentlebros left a lot of doors open for downloadable content (DLC) and a potential sequel. The game hints at many possibilities involving dogs, mice, and secrets between the Dragonblood and dragons, but that’ll be up to the Gentlebros on how big they want to make this. I, for one, would like to see expansions made to the game and continue the story of the silent hero. Cat Quest is a purrtastic game that deserves your attention and belongs in your gaming library, especially if you enjoy pawesome indie games.
