Altogether, Fight'N Rage is a superb effort. Very few throwbacks are fit to hold a candle to the classics of yesteryear, but this one admirably stands alongside. Every subsystem and game mechanic works wonderfully. The three playable characters are incredibly diverse and fun to play, while still retaining a simplistic three-button control setup. The multiple difficulties represent a challenge that grows with the player's skill. Even on the hardest setting, enemy stats aren't boosted to absurd levels, making every battle a slog. The ambitious routing system works quite well, giving every playthrough something new to look forward to.

Fight'N Rage easily deserves a spot alongside Streets of Rage, Double Dragon, and Final Fight, offering extremely satisfying action, sharp foes, deep movesets, solid music, and delightful punches.

Great on PC and great on consoles. It is a port from PC without changes, but the original work does not need either. A classic beat'em up with a modern and exquisite playability, a bizarre artistic design, and much content to spend hours perfecting our mastery and remembering those wonderful golden years of the brawler genre and the arcades. Essential.

If everything I just said didn’t convince you, then maybe the coveted Thumb Culture Platinum essentials award will. Fight’N Rage deserves this award, as it is a masterpiece of a modern beat’em up stuffed with all sorts of retro-nostalgia, plus this port from the original PC version is outstanding. I know it won’t be coming off my switch any time soon. What are you waiting for? Go get it on the Nintendo Switch eShop!

But the good far, far outweighs the bad in Fight’N Rage. It really is one of the best side-scrolling beat ’em ups currently available.

Fight ‘N Rage is a fantastic beat ‘em up. It has simple controls, good mechanics, and a lot of diversity to go along with it. Fans of this genre should not hesitate to pick this one up and even if you only play solo, you’ll still have a fun time with it.

Beat 'em up fans looking for depth will not find it in Fight'N Rage but they will find simple and fun gameplay. And 2D boobs.

Fight'N Rage is a lot of fun, and will definitely tickle the nostalgia in games like me that grew up on arcade style beat 'em up games like Streets of Rage, Final Fight, Double Dragon, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and more. The visuals and music as spot-on, and the branching paths with multiple endings and unlockables provide some pretty solid replay value. Unfortunately the combat itself is still a bit too shallow for my liking, some of the stages can feel a bit cheap / frustrating as well. Brawler fans owe it to themselves to give this one a try.

Fight'N Rage has positioned its self as one of the must-own games for the Nintendo Switch. Beating up people never felt so much fun, either alone or by bringing a friend or computer controller character. If you're a fan of arcade beat em ups, fast and frantic combat, and tight controls, then Fight'N Rage is for you.

If you can ignore some of its questionable elements, Fight'N Rage delivers one of the most mechanically satisfying brawlers out there. It feels responsive and fast, opponents’ attacks are well telegraphed that make encounters fair, and the parry mechanic adds an additional layer of complexity.

Fight'N Rage reminds you of a classic '90s arcade game, though the controls don't hold up. Otherwise, with nostalgic graphics and music, it'd be a great game.

Fight'N Rage may be short but that doesn't stand in its way of presenting itself as a fitting tribute to the golden age of arcade beat'em up games. Easy to learn but difficult to master, with plenty of content to unblock, multiple levels, marvelous looks and soundtrack, this is just what the doctor ordered for people who want to enjoy some good old classic-style beat'em up play.

A gloriously amateur game that puts to shame all the constraints and compromises of so-called professional development.

A surprisingly deep and wholly satisfying side-scrolling brawler, Fight'N Rage is massively enjoyable genre effort that stands shoulder to shoulder with its classic counterparts.

If you really enjoy the frantic nature of the game, there is lots for you to come back to. Most of the enemies you encounter can be unlocked as a playable character, and the levels are filled with branching paths and decisions you can make leading to more than 40 endings for you to unlock. So clearly this game is packed with content and replay value. However it’s up to you to make the most of it and spend a lot of time mastering the battle system in order for you to really appreciate it. The levels are large and can go on for a long time. But as I’ve mentioned before the game is oozing with style so that can potentially keep you playing even if it will kick your butt for a while. Also the music is rocking, with plenty of metal tunes to compliment the action and mayhem on screen as you are sending enemies flying or being sent flying yourself. For $20 Fight ‘N Rage is a nice little gem, however your enjoyment of it really depends on how much you are willing to put up with the learning curve. If it clicks for you and you enjoy mastering the parry system and learn how to chain attacks properly, this will probably be among the best beat ’em ups you’ve ever played and the unlockable content is sure to keep you coming back for more.

Despite lacking online multiplayer and giving players a lot of different ways to do the same thing, it's impossible to not find value in Fight'N Rage. There is enough diversity between paths to warrant at least a couple cycles and gameplay is complicated to the point of giving you something to work towards. It is the fight beat'em up in a while that I felt like I could play for 10+ hours and not get bored and that is an impressive feat at an extremely fair price.
