Lumines Remastered Reviews
Lumines is at its best when it's pure immersion, no frills.
Lumines Remastered polishes the original game to a shine, and welcomes a whole new generation to the puzzle party. It can be tough to master, but at a value price, it’s worth getting lost in the music and blocks all over again.
Lumines Remastered is the return of a personal favorite block killer, now in 4k. It's never looked better, while feeling more tactile than ever before.
If you own a Nintendo Switch or plan to get it soon, it would be inconceivable not to grab Lumines Remastered, unless Puzzle games are not your thing.
If you're a fan of puzzle games, rhythm games, or just chilling out with a game that gives more than it demands, I heartily recommend Lumines Remastered. It's a great addition to the Switch library and an excellent starting point for those who have never experienced the franchise before.
Lumines Remastered is a luminary of the puzzle genre and feels perfectly at home on the Switch. Intense and immersive puzzle action, psychedelic visuals, a killer soundtrack, and a bevy of content and modes make for a premier puzzle experience that should not be missed. Lumines is an addictive experience that is positively a delight to play, and we would highly recommend it to both veterans and newcomers of the puzzle genre. There's something here for everyone, and considering the relatively low price tag, Lumines Remastered is very much ‘required playing' for any Switch owner.
Lumines Remastered breathes new life into the block-dropping PlayStation Portable sleeper hit by porting it to the Nintendo Switch.
The core enjoyment of Lumines Remastered lies simply with playing it.
What really makes it stand out from the crowd is its variety. When you've grown tired of one mode, which will take awhile, you'll simply move onto another. Ultimately, Lumines Remastered is just fun, fun and more fun.
Lumines is the most addictive puzzle game that I've ever played and this Remastered version is perfect for hardcore fans and newcomers alike.
Lumines: Remastered is a musical masterpiece, an addictive puzzle, and a fiendish rhythm game all presented in a simple, yet elegant, package. When you’re not trying to unlock new ‘skins’ in the challenge mode you’ll be either facing off against an opponent or trying your luck at one of the many pre-defined puzzles. As you progress you are rewarded with new songs, colour pallets and designs (skins), which boosts your determination to unlock them all and give it “just one more go”. Lumines: Remastered looks and plays perfectly on a big screen and I imagine it will be even better in handheld mode on the Switch, it’s just a shame the Vita missed out this time.
Lumines can still pull you helplessly into its block-swapping, rhythm-matching heaven.
Lumines Remastered is a welcome return of the stress-free puzzler, turn on, tune in and drop out.
Lumines Remastered's enjoyment is largely dependent on your ability and interest in achieving high scores and/or think about things creatively. This makes it hard to judge, since the only mode with outside factors is versus. Even though that mode can be, in a word, brutal, the other modes offer more than enough content to have an enjoyable experience. It's also so simple that, even if you can't achieve insane combos, even a terrible player can last a while if they're good enough at managing their workspace. So, if you're looking for a puzzle game or something to do on the go, Lumines Remastered is a fantastic choice.
The demand for puzzle games on a system that can be played anywhere is always high, and Lumines Remastered is a shining example of what the Switch can do with them.
Most of all though, if you want to experience a game that can capture your senses and stir your brain all while being one of the most entertaining modern puzzle experiences available, you have to give Lumines a try.
14 years after its initial release, Lumines Remastered keeps being an unique puzzle in some ways, from its gameplay simplicity to its wonderful sountrack... The remastered has it's own flaws, like the absence of new modes or the long loading times (even when retrying a challenge), Beyond that, as a classic, it's still a very enjoyable puzzle.
