I cannot stress enough that if you are a fan of Left 4 Dead - or simply enjoy teaming up with some friends - you need this in your life.

There might have been plenty of co-op shooters since Left 4 Dead, but few managed to wrangle the same fun, fear and frantic combat as Earthfall did.

It's Left 4 Dead with aliens down to the very core, but a flattering rendition of the formula that's worth playing with friends.

Earthfall is a solo or multiplayer FPS that pits four remnants of a human town against some underwhelming aliens that are rampaging and at times swarming. It will not stand out from the other dozen games of its type but it is another reasonable choice that - at least - doesn't require lessons.

Earthfall is a valiant effort at trying to capture the lightning in a bottle once again that was Left 4 Dead. On paper it does a lot of things right, but in practice it lacks the soul and fire of what made Valve's iconic zombie games so effective almost a decade ago.

Overall, this is a great product with a low price tag and high replay value, and deserves attention. Some more bosses and maybe a mode where aliens are playable would really go a long way for the longevity, though. The lack of any character progression means if the gameplay alone is not enticing enough for some, replaying will not be a worthwhile experience. Earthfall could have taken a couple of notes from Killing Floor 2 in many aspects of prolonging gameplay via progression in a repetitive system, but what it strives for in the "Left 4 Dead" genre, it nails really well. It's exciting to see what the developer does next with content and updates.

Earthfall is quite an enjoyable game which has a lot of potential, once some of the bugs are ironed out and the overall game is improved on, I feel that it will make an excellent game and distinguish itself from others in the crowd. I can’t say I recommend this for everyone, but for those looking to scratch that previously mentioned itch, then I couldn’t recommend it more.

The technically musty Left-4-Dead clone is whimsy with the right team, but tries hard.

Even though Earthfall isn't revolutionary and doesn't stand tall with top-tier cooperative shooters, there's still some fun to be had with it, especially if you have friends to enjoy it with.

Earthfall might be a little frustrating if you have high expectations from it, as it suffers greatly from lack of content. But all in all it's a standard 4 player coop shooter that can be very fun.

Unoriginal and with dull gunplay, Earthfall should only be considered if you plan to play it online with your friends.

Earthfall is a cooperative FPS with a few interesting ideas that it fails to deliver on. Built on a poor foundation of unsatisfying combat and repetitive mission structure, every aspect of the game is mediocre at best. With some serious retooling, its light building mechanic could be an interesting twist, but there's little reason to play Earthfall in its current state with so many better examples of the genre already out there.

Earthfall is a decent try at filling the Left 4 Dead 3 hole in our hearts, but it's rarely strong enough to be anything other than a lesser imitation of that classic series.

In the end, with some buddies and a game plan, Earthfall can be a fun, albeit, flawed experience that a Left 4 Dead fan would still enjoy.

Earthfall somewhat succeeds at it's core mission, if it's mission is to try to kickstart the multiplayer subgenre that Turtle Rock started a decade ago. It's biggest failure is convincing people that it is a better alternative to Left 4 Dead 2, which is still very available on limited platforms. There's also Call of Duty's Zombies/Invasion side modes, which are ubiquitous. Not to mention Vermintide, which is a fresh look at the genre. You will absolutely have fun liberating Earth from aliens with a group of your friends – friends make even the most rote experience interesting. But outside of a few sessions with the group, you'll all find something better to do.

A 4-player co-op shooter that looks and plays like a clone of the Left 4 Dead games.

Earthfall often skirts too far into derivative gameplay territory, but at its heart is a game meant for friends to fight off alien swarms while quoting only the cheesiest of sci-fi action film lines. It isn't perfect, but it doesn't have to be in order to be fun.

Perhaps it is being overly critical of Earthfall with limited lore, and a sense of ease of completion, when the same issues can be found in Left 4 Dead, a title it is easy to sing the praises of. The comparisons are not subtle, yet Earthfall feels more like a missed opportunity to drag the genre forward in similar ways as Vermintide has managed to.

Earthfall has some great flashes of fun, but lacks the imagination and balance needed to sustain it for very long.
