An homage to the full breadth of Mega Man X's history shows that some parts of its legacy have aged much better than others.

If you are a fan of the Mega Man X series, then this new collection is a great way to own all your favorite games on one console. The X Challenge is a neat little extra, but is probably not worth a purchase for anyone who isn't coming for the main games themselves.

Mega Man X Legacy Collection is a logical move by Capcom that they could have phoned in by just porting the PS2 collection and calling it a day. Instead they added Rookie Hunter Mode, X Challenge, and all the Extras you could ask for, all wrapped up in a competent interface to carry you between each game.

In many ways this is Mega Man at its finest, and outside of the fact that most of the eight games play the same, this Legacy Collection is a fine reminder of why the X series is held in such high regard.

This is another retro collection that does an excellent job of preserving a classic franchise in an accessible form on current-gen platforms and is worth your attention whether you're a long-time fan or someone who's looking to get into the Mega Man X series for the first time.

While having both 1 and 2 may be necessary if you are completionist or if you adore the series, the second one is so much weaker that it is very hard to justify. Mega Man X Legacy Colletion 1 is a great set of games with some really interesting new features that will have you bashing your head against a cyber wall and somehow loving it. The new X Challenge is paticularly interesting and gives the game a different feel while still retaining the rewarding challenge that has inspired so many games since.

The games here aren't necessarily terrible, but none of the games are on par with the essential experiences found in the first collection.

Mega Man X Legacy Collection 2 makes the best of the material it's given to work with. Regardless of each game's quality, steps have been taken to clean them up to allow fans the option to relieve both the moderate highs and the very low lows of this era of Mega Man's history. It's disappointing that the X Challenge recycled some boss battles from the first volume, though, because experiencing these games in a new way would've given us a bit more to enjoy.

Aside from the X Challenge mode not adding much to it, the extra contents and the games themselves makes Mega Man X Legacy Collection a valuable option for the fans of the franchise and anyone new to it.

Though Volume Two doesn't have as many quality titles as its predecessors, the two stronger installments that it contains, alongside the impressive amount of side-content, make it a decent package for fans and gamers interested in Mega Man.

Ultimately, Mega Man X Legacy Collection 2 is only worth buying if you really love the X series formula and are willing to experience it in bizarre and inferior forms. Mega Man X8 is the singular high-quality X title to be had here, so you have to ask yourself if X8 plus three not-so-terrific titles is worth your $19.99. I love Mega Man in all his forms, so it's worth it for me. But for you? Maybe not.

There really isn't much to say about the MMX Legacy Collection. Given my fondness for the series, I'm always happy to have more people discover the pure platforming bliss that most of the series offers and while there certainly is value in keeping things faithful to the original, I would have much preferred a collection of true remasters as it would have gone a long way to justify the asking price.

As sparse as the extra options are as well as the inclusion of a couple of legitimately awful titles, both of the Mega Man X Legacy Collections pay adequate tribute to one of the premiere 2D action franchises of all-time, which itself spun off a legendary franchise.

Mega Man X Legacy Collection 2 is brought down by the weak and distasteful games packaged in this collection.

And for the big question, is Mega Man X Legacy Collection 2 worth the time and the money spent on like the first episode?  To be frank, no, totally not. As mentioned above, the 2nd collection has none to offer but two worthy instalments of the series, X5 and X8. Although these two lonely are as important as the first four titles in the series, I'd highly recommend the second collection only to those who are truly in love with the blue bomber

I do [overall like it]. It harkens back to the first three games in a big way. They even brought Vile back.

MMXLC Vol.1 & 2 were most certainly fun to play and I'm glad that I got to review them as they introduced me to the series, but the collection has some inherent problems, not to mention that the asking price is simply way too high for what you get.
