Resident Evil 2 Reviews
Resident Evil 2 is a shining example of how remakes should be done.
Resident Evil 2 will easily be one of the best games of 2019. In addition to being a new staple for the Resident Evil franchise, Resident Evil 2 shows how remakes can and should be done.
Resident Evil 2 is not just a fantastic remake, it’s a very good horror game in its own right. The atmosphere, voice acting and sound design are outstanding, with each environment set up to maximise the horror. The story can be completed in around 8 hours or so but the different play modes and separate storyline for Claire gives you incentive to play through this one again to experience the whole story. It’s worth doing too and with no microtransactions, loot boxes or free to play mechanics in sight, Capcom have delivered a refreshingly straight forward game, one that’s easily up there with one of the best of 2019.
Fear and terror at every turn, Resident Evil 2 is the best way to enjoy survival horror at its peak, made by developers who know how to make it work. If this is the direction the series is heading in, consider us faithful servants to the undead hordes.
Capcom has released the Game of the Year in the first month of 2019. If you only buy one game this year, make sure it’s this one. Screw Red Dead Redemption 2, move over The Witcher 3—Resident Evil 2 is, so far, the game of the generation.
It is, without surprises, survival horror in its pure state. The remake of Resident Evil 2 is everything the fans would hope for a current-gen RE. It takes all the core concepts of the original and twists them with a new fresh take and some mechanics from the also excellent Resident Evil 7. Lots of jump scares, great action, stunning visuals and a lot of content to explore and replay.

The Resident Evil 2 remake is an excellent example on how to modernize a game. Despite some changes and improvements, the series' veterans will feel right at home. The developers at Capcom have paid their legendary game the best tribute they could have. Already, we have a candidate for the title of the best horror game of 2019.

Resident Evil 2 is a great example of how to remake an older game by keeping enough of the original game's core while implementing enough new mechanics to modernize it. The end product is everything I wanted out of a Resident Evil game and more.
RE2 strikes the right balance between respecting the source material and bringing the game into 2019. Returning fans and brand-newbs alike will not be disappointed.
Resident Evil 2 – while not a perfect game – is the perfect remake. Capcom has lovingly rebirthed a horror icon here, preserving that core DNA without infecting it through needless add-ons or alterations. There are certain aspects that will definitely grate and feel weirdly archaic though these are clearly an intentional part of Capcom's grand design. Whether you've been waiting all these years to revisit Raccoon City or happen to be a curious first-timer, Resident Evil 2 is an essential must-have slice of video game horror, kicking off 2019 in style.
Graphically, Resident Evil 2 is atmospheric and breathtaking.
The amount of content goes above and beyond, offering much more than the original game ever did. Before The Ghost Survivors DLC, this may have been a 9.5, but now, as an even more complete package, Resident Evil 2 deserves the highest honor as a solid contender for "Game of the Year".
There’s one thing that permeates throughout my multiple playthroughs of Resident Evil 2 from the start right up until this very moment, and that’s how much love and care has been poured into this game. There’s an undeniable fervour present across Capcom’s recent titles that have come to an all-new climax with RE2. It single-handedly captures the essence of survival horror and what makes it great in a seemingly effortless fashion. The game is packed with content and modes that are all worth experiencing in their fullest, and Capcom should be commended for outdoing themselves yet again. RE2 is without a doubt the best remake I’ve ever had the privilege of playing, and I’m teeming with excitement now more than ever to see what’s in store next for the series that started it all.
The stunning graphics, incredible survival horror combat and wonderfully eerie setting make picking up a copy of Resident Evil 2 a no-brainer.
It was a joyride of gore, horror and intense survival gameplay that I could not put down.
Not only it evokes nostalgia for game veterans but delivers much more to remember it for a long time.
I’m always reluctant to throw around high praise and label games as the best the genre has to offer. Games tend to be overhyped on release and then the love dies down over a few months and you end up looking a little stupid. Here’s the thing though, Resident Evil 2 really is that good. It actually is genre-defining. It is one of the best triple-A experiences I’ve had in years and it will be in contention for my game of the year. You can believe the hype this time. Resident Evil 2 is phenomenal.
