The LEGO Movie 2 Videogame Reviews
I don't care what anyone else says, The Lego Movie 2 Videogame is a ton of fun.
As the song in the film, "everything's not awesome" with this one (camera, screen tearing...), but it still delivers a ton of content and a solid promise of fun if you plan to play it with a kid, In some ways, it's a more open-world-focused offering than other LEGO licensed games, that brings back some ideas lost in LEGO Worlds.

Like the film it's based on, The LEGO Movie 2 Videogame changes things up from the usual formula without harming the overall product at the end.
This fun game is a great addition to the LEGO collection of games. It's not my favorite game (will anything ever beat LEGO Star Wars?) but it's well made and entertaining. The mix of exploration, sandpit and story elements makes it feel fresher than recent LEGO games. Plus it's just plain cool to walk around as Emmet or Wildstyle while talking to the likes of Batman and Unikitty. It's worth checking out, especially if you're a fan of the movie.
Finally bringing something new to the LEGO "Franchise" titles, this might scratch that itch that previous games have been missing, with a lot fewer bugs to boot. It doesn't spell out what happens in the movie, but the ending is certainly a spoiler - just so you're forewarned.
Lego series is not used to be as evolutive as videogames usually are. But with The Lego movie 2: the videogame, TT games changes drastically their way to offer us a title which explores an unseen way of playing in the main Lego series. A twist that reminds their forgotten Lego worlds and that feels to fit perfectly here. Hopefully, an open door to the future of the saga.

The LEGO series usually is an enjoyable game to play. However, The LEGO Movie 2 - Videogame left all the charisma behind just to take advantage of the movie premiere.

The LEGO Movie 2 Videogame is an adventure best taken on your own terms. It’s a fun and imaginative experience that is at its best when you are collecting every character, item, and Master Piece in the game. The only things that hold it back are the long load times and the existence of previous MORE expansive titles in the LEGO Videogame franchise. So, while not everything in this game is awesome, it’s a journey I’m glad I made.
Overall, The LEGO Movie 2 Videogame serves as a fun romp through different space systems with some familiar characters.
The Lego Movie 2 Videogame is a solid game that uses a classical formula to succeed, taking no risk and so lacking in innovation.

The LEGO Movie 2 Videogame isn't the groundbreaking reinvention the franchise so desperately needs, but it's still a step in the right direction.
The LEGO Movie 2 Videogame might seem like business as usual, but it's the addition of sandbox bits, the slew of items and gadgets, and the emphasis on exploration and puzzles that make TT's latest LEGO foray a cut above. Everything is (relatively) awesome.
The Lego Movie 2 Video Game is not the best Lego game that we've ever seen, but it could be much fun if you are interested in these type of games. If you have a child or looking for a good game based on animations, The Lego Movie 2 is a nice choice to pick.

The LEGO Movie 2 Videogame might not be for adults. Even so, it's a game worth your time if you're a completionist, hitting that sweet spot of a 100% completion rate to add more Platinum trophies, and if you love to play video-games with your kids. Playing The LEGO Movie 2 Videogame brings out the kid inside me that ignores whatever cumbersome of a reality we call life has for a few hours. Unfortunately, it does not have enough to keep my younger self out for a long time.
Just when one thing gets fixed in the LEGO Video game series, something else breaks.
If you love LEGO Worlds then you will no doubt absolutely love this game due to being able to free roam and more or less construct and destroy anything you wish, your imagination is the limit. For me it feels a little rushed and unrefined. It is as if somebody remembered that the film was launching soon and needed to get a game quickly ready, “oh yes lets reskin LEGO Worlds, throw in some movie cutscenes and away we go.” There is a degree of awkwardness and certainly clunkyness when playing the game that I can’t help feel could of been addressed through a bit more playtesting, resulting in a better quality of game that has been produced. If you are an inquisitive human, or a child, then buy this game. If on the other hand you detested the format of LEGO Worlds, then steer clear!
Keeping in mind the target audience and the price point, the Lego Movie 2 Videogame presents a game worth considering for fans of the movie, Lego, or casual, family-friendly play.
Not the game I was expecting but a neat game regardless
A fun game for kids and those who didn't lose their inner-children. It doesn't promise anything different from the previous LEGO games for other gamers.

WORTH CONSIDERING - I give the developers credit for trying some new gameplay ideas, but they mostly failed at creating a funny narrative and worlds that are fun to explore. I was never wowed by anything in the game, and that’s a shame. Still, the co-op can be fun and the game did release at a reasonable $39.99, making it worth considering for younger gamers.
