Animal Crossing: New Horizons is everything I hoped it would be, and it’s yet another stellar release that showcases a confident Nintendo at its best. It is excellent, and is easily another must-own Switch title – at least, if you can understand and embrace Animal Crossing’s uniquely lazy pace.
Animal Crossing games have always delivered a compelling version of self-quarantine, and this one overflows with quantity, without sacrificing quality, to do so at a scale series fans have never seen.
Animal Crossing has always been a series where every little thing leads to something productive.
It's an exceptional game, with few faults to speak of, and players who have even the slightest inkling of interest should check it out as soon as possible.
A beautiful, welcoming game that is everything and anything you want it to be. This is one you'll play all year and beyond, and it's exactly what the world needs right now.
Animal Crossing: New Horizons takes Animal Crossing and not only drags it back onto home consoles, but improves upon every single facet imaginable.
Animal Crossing: New Horizons is beautiful and peaceful, offering safe harbour from the stresses of everyday life. There's so much to do and so much to see, so what's wrong with making a back seat?
The best thing I can say about New Horizons is that I think it's going to win over some players who previously bounced off the franchise. And it will do so without losing any longtime fans in the process. Those players will find more to love than ever before.
Animal Crossing: New Horizons transports the player to another world, one where the hardships of life seem inconsequential.
By bringing players into their own island, Animal Crossing: New Horizons works the series' charming, wholesome magic like never before.
Nintendo's adorable life simulator is blissfully free of anything more stressful or worrisome than rain showers and bug bites
Animal Crossing: New Horizons is the escapism we need right now.
Animal Crossing: New Horizons is Nintendo’s answer to the unfussy greatness of a grilled cheese sandwich and tomato soup. Is there fancier stuff on the menu? Sure. But you will keep coming back, and you’ll be satisfied every damn time.
Animal Crossing: New Horizons is easily the best Animal Crossing game to date. This life simulator is the most immersive, feature-filled, and customizable to date, having exponentially amplified all the charm and addicting qualities of New Leaf. A must have for any fan of the series, or anyone who simply needs a distraction from the current state of the real world.
Nintendo's comforting life sim is a tranquil haven at a time the world needs it most.
While a deserted island is the setting for a shedload of games, from Fortnite to Far Cry, none have ever tried very hard to live up to the Desert Island Discs dream that most of us have fantasised about at one time or another.
Animal Crossing: New Horizons is a real breath of fresh air. With its cute design and its content that becomes more and more interesting and provided every day as it progresses.

Initially, we were somewhat skeptical of the game. We had high expectations and were bored by the repetitive tasks. After about five hours in, however, something happens with the game. The animal crossing spirit engulfs us and we reach for the console as soon as we get the chance. Not to put us in hours, but just to check the situation on our island for a few minutes at a time. It's a game that we don't love intensely, but that follows us through the days of what we suspect for a long time to come.
