SteamWorld Quest is a solid RPG that contains a number of interesting ideas and packs the charm of the other SteamWorld titles. Fans of RPGs or SteamWorld games should give it a go.

Priced at $24.99 / £22.49, SteamWorld Quest provides brilliant value for money. The genre blending turn-based RPG meets card game mechanics serve as a refreshingly addictive change of pace. It's all wrapped up in a polished, quirky and light-hearted adventure featuring fun characters and a beautiful hand-drawn art style. The game is a blast from beginning to end, and is well worth your time and hard earned cash.

SteamWorld Quest: Hand of Gilgamech is an entertaining card-based RPG that players who enjoy a turn-based challenge should not pass up. Regardless of its lengthy battles, its combat flexibility and enchanting world more than make up for it. So take up the sword and the gear, and save the world!

Steamworld Quest is yet another fun entry in the franchise, and while it sadly doesn’t reach the same exciting heights as Dig 2, it’s still a super solid entry in its own right, with a lot of fun combat, amusing dialogue, great characters and very addictive deckbuilding. It may seem a bit convoluted at first, or so far removed from the other steamworld games that it may feel completely alien at first glance, but once you give it a shot and stick by this tale, you’ll really be thankful you started the path to be the king of games!

SteamWorld Quest's accessible take on card-based combat is undermined by an uneven difficulty curve that frustrates more than it encourages.

SteamWorld Quest: Hand of Gilgamech is a funny, charming deck-building RPG that laughs in the face of fantasy and adventure tropes. In the end, though, the game falls victim to repetitive gameplay and ends up overstaying its welcome.

Image & Form's latest SteamWorld entry dips its toes into the realm of RPGs as it delightfully integrates a deck-building card game into a turn-based RPG.

It's a game (and franchise) that wears its indie credentials on its sleeve, and it's hard to be too disappointed by its flaws for that reason.

SteamWorld Quest is a good game, but no single part of it rises to greatness, and deck-building battles are a disappointment.

SteamWorld Quest may feature a charming cast of characters and an enjoyable battle system but its overall lack of variety and drab dungeons make it a tough game to universally recommend.

The weakest of the recent SteamWorld games but still an enjoyable, if rather unfair, mix of role-playing game and card-battler.

Aside from the audiovisual that are great as usual, SteamWorld Quest feels kind of bland. It definitely isn't bad and it can give you a couple hours of enjoyment, but eventually, its relative simplicity will start to wear you down.

...truly an enthralling experience and I would urge anyone who is a fan of either turn-based strategy games or card based games to give this title a look.

Though its narrative leans more towards humor with a few sparing and surprising character moments, this first run at the Role-playing genre shows that the developers are more than capable of striking gold by pairing their SteamWorld characters with solid and balanced mechanics.
