The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening Reviews
No Nintendo remake has ever combined the beautiful and the familiar like this.
The Legend of Zelda series is known for its quality across both consoles and handhelds, with the latter often standing out for their uniqueness within the franchise as a whole. The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening was a shining example of that on the Game Boy and once again proves why it deserves to be talked about among the best in the series with its remake on the Nintendo Switch.
Whether you're a new or old player, Link's Awakening remains is hugely compelling and is another Switch must-have.
Link's Awakening is happy to be history, and it defies you not to be, as well.
When I go to give Link’s Awakening to someone else, would I recommend this version? Is this the game I want my kids to play? And yes. It is. Absolutely. Because the truth is that it does recapture its old magic. It’s just not the time machine that I thought it could be.
Pick up The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening if you have any affinity for the series and don't mind replaying a 26-year-old game. However, if you've played the Game Boy original to death, you won't find much new here.
Nintendo's updated take on a quarter-century-old classic is made to be enjoyed by all generations equally
The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening is everything a remake should be. It retains the nostalgia of the original game while celebrating it in an entirely new way. The map is small but dense, filled with side quests, interesting character designs, and a surprising moral dilemma. This charming, toy-like world is the perfect way to experience Koholint Island, regardless of it's your first visit or your 50th time washing ashore.
The Legend of Zelda has always had its delightful idiosyncracies --aggressive chickens, sultry fairies, Tingle-- but 1993 Game Boy adventure Link's Awakening has always been one of the most curious.
Fans of the GameBoy curio will enjoy endless nostalgia with this 3D remake – but is it too faithful to the original?
Despite the single-trackness, the journey itself is filled with wonderful side characters, colorful enemies and a certain mystery not found in other Zelda games. We can almost explain it as a small resort, a place where we can sit back and recover the forces after the hard fight against Ganon in Breath of the Wild.

Link’s Awakening is yet another outstanding addition to the Switch library.
Everyone can agree that it is a remake done right from the charming graphics and great music, and there couldn’t have been a better choice of Zelda game to bring to the Switch.
The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening looks gorgeous, sounds beautiful, and tells a twee and compelling tale. While the game can be played through in around ten hours if you know what you're doing in advance, new players will find a lengthy and engaging Zelda game to love. Whether it's your first time playing Link's Awakening or your dozenth, you will still find a gripping Switch game that you'll remember for another twenty years.
An indispensable addition to Nintendo Switch

Putting aside the gorgeous graphics, the obtuse level design, and the various modern touches, Link’s Awakening is still an exceptional Zelda game.
Legend of Zelda - Link’s Awakening is great remake of the classic. Beautiful visuals, updated controls and an added Dungeon builder all breath new life into the title. Despite some frame rate issues, the game is a blast to play through and worth picking up not only if you love Zelda but also for those looking for an easy point of entry into the franchise.
This is old-school Zelda the way you’d like to remember it.
