My Friend Pedro Reviews
Everything in My Friend Pedro works just right with plenty of shock value and jaw dropping moments to keep you excited throughout. The challenge ramps up wonderfully and by the end of the game, you’ll be Googling to see if the developer has plans for a sequel. But don’t worry, something as novel and beautiful as this is only a few years away from becoming a Triple A title in franchises that you already love.
Bonkers. Bananas. Bravissimo. Brilliant. Beautiful. All of these words are used for end of level grades in DeadToast Entertainment's game My Friend Pedro. They just so happen to also be great descriptors for the game itself, coincidentally.
My Friend Pedro is one of the most pure, skill based action games of this generation.
Your friend Pedro simply wants you to kill people in the most stylish way you can. That's all he really wants from you and you must obey him. Thankfully, it's also really fun to do that. The game provides you with the tools to become a murder maestro orchestrating your own symphony of death while also having a tongue in its cheek and a banana with a face. If you love making art with bullets, this is the game for you even if it can sometimes be a little bruised in places.
My Friend Pedro is the perfect blend of The Matrix and John Wick, unleashing a hail of gunfire while traversing environments has never been better
My Friend Pedro is a pure celebration of the best action games and movies, full of exciting moments and superb gameplay mechanics that makes us feel the world's biggest badass.

My Friend Pedros’s action packed sequences are a sight to behold and at the same time little memorable. A game which forgot its original original roots, tries to do too much to achieve too little.

My Friend Pedro is a fun game and so appropriately a handheld game, making Switch a very natural home. It will definitely satiate your appetite in looking for something a bit different.
My Friend Pedro is weird. At first, you’re just sort of placed in this post-apocalyptic world with no recollection of your memory. You have no name and with no backstory, the action immediately begins. Enter, Pedro. The weirdness kicks right off by introducing you to a sentient banana named Pedro, reminding me immediately of Sparx from Spyro The Dragon. No explanation, you wake up and he is there. Is he your conscious? Is he a hallucination?
My Friend Pedro delivers platforming gameplay that feels organic while encouraging skill improvement, though the scoring system may trivialize players' enjoyment on easier difficulties.
In a strange way, I knew I would love this game. Like I said earlier I enjoy the games that Devolver Digital have published or developed, and when I first saw the gameplay trailer back in March, I knew it was a game to keep my eye on. This game, in a nutshell, makes you feel like a right proper badass!! From Arnold Schwarzenegger in The Terminator chasing down Sarah Connor, or John Wick going gung ho in a nightclub, you feel unstoppable and that you can take on any of the enemies the game throws at you, and in this case, alongside a talking banana sidekick named Pedro. I really, really enjoyed this game, and hope that the developers will be expanding it with some new DLC in the future, and with the ability to be able to play online with others. This is why I am going to award it the Thumb Culture Platinum Award! As always, I look forward to more games coming out by Devolver Digital in the near future.
A fun experience that unfortunately missed the opportunity to be something far greater.

In it's best moments, My Friend Pedro delivers memorable action sequences in a fun and exciting gameplay loop that resembles Max Payne's shoot-outs or even John Woo's movies scenes. It's very creative in introducing its items, many that at first glance might not even make sense for an action game, and the mental exercises we have to do to find the best combination of weapons and moves for each situation brings a good challenge. Unfortunately, this is not the experience throughout the whole thing, with some stages far below in quality compared to it's best sequences. Overall it's a good game, but one that fails to maintain its highs during some of its stages.

My Friend Pedro is a lot of stylish and silly fun.
My Friend Pedro is an absolutely astonishing game, with so many elements of surprise. The combat is phenomenal with so many ways to attack your foes. My Friend Pedro is a game everyone should try, it's absolutely bananas!!
A short but enjoyable game, though much of the game is based on score attacks and leaderboard competitions. If this appeals to you, great, but everyone else might want to skip it.
My Friend Pedro: Blood, Bullets Bananas is a wildly imaginative ride that will have you appreciate friendship, and nature's perfect fruit, the banana. The sharp presentation is met with even sharper gameplay that is one of the most entertaining executions I have played this year.
The Bullet time of My Friend Pedro is one of the best you can find right now (Now that Rockstar apparently forgot Max Payne) but some clunky controls and a story that sometimes leaves a lot to be desired, keeps the game from being a great one.

Zip lining upside down in slow motion, pumping rounds in to multiple enemies whilst planning my dismount through a glass window into another enemy filled room is the closest I’ll get to playing as Neo in the ultra-cool and violent lobby scene from The Matrix. Visually impressive, a synth heavy score and an addictive gameplay loop makes this a must play for Switch owners and shoot ‘em up fans.
My Friend Pedro is an absolute gem of a game. It is one of the most fun releases on PS4 in some time. Varied level design and cool boss fights compliment the relatively short campaign, but the replay value is high and you will likely find yourself returning over and over again for better scores.
