NBA 2K20 remains a beautiful and satisfying title, but this time the loot box case heavily influences the final vote

NBA 2K20 is the series' best showing in several seasons. The action is more refined than ever, MyCareer serves up a fun story with less grind, and MyGM mode is back on track. Microtransactions continue to be a concern, but the most egregious stuff is restricted to MyTeam mode, with MyCareer actually feeling less exploitative this year. Hopefully we'll see a more substantial refresh in the next year or two, but, for now, the NBA 2K dynasty remains strong.
The experience of NBA 2K on the Nintendo Switch is nothing short of satisfying for fans of basketball games, thanks to its variety of game modes, fluid gameplay and the inclusion of the WNBA. While the experience is mostly top notch, the game's model of microtransactions makes it feel more like a blind gamble and can end up harming the game's standing. Beyond that, NBA 2K is a marvel of a basketball game and a welcome arrival to the Nintendo Switch catalogue.

It's the best basketball game on store shelves. What are you gonna do? Play NBA Live?
2K20 is hands down the best way to play basketball on the Switch right now and should be picked up by any fans of the sport.
NBA 2K20 continues to deliver excellent on-court action with unmatched presentation and mode variety. However, the series' continued reliance on microtransactions is still a glaring issue.
This new NBA 2K iteration isn't a new step forward for the the franchise. Gameplay is still good and demanding, MyCareer well-written, but there's not much that's feeling new and memorable.

NBA 2K20 has made it again. The title of 2K Games comes with enough new features for veterans to feel evolution and the simplicity necessary to catch the newbies. Thus, the title par excellence of basketball stands, one more year, as one of the most complete sports games on the market.

Overall, NBA 2K20 is still a solid experience for any video game basketball fan but it isn’t going to sway anyone who wasn’t already set on playing.
NBA2K20 is an incredible addition to the series. The depth and attention to detail make it a masterclass in replicating the beauty of the game. MyCAREER particularly stands out with 2K being serious with the star cast of Idris Elba and LeBron James, with the latter also being the executive producer. This is a game that does so much right, you're quick to forget the incessant brand plugging and intimidating grind.
With loads of content, amazing core gameplay mechanics, and unrivaled presentation, it keeps you engaged whether you're playing casually or competitively.
NBA 2K20 is so similar to last year's game that it's hard to wholeheartedly recommend it like we normally would. If you haven't bought an NBA 2K game in a while, then by all means, don't hesitate to dive right in. But if you're still happily playing NBA 2K19, there's really no reason to make the switch. Major, sweeping changes are clearly in order, and we hope to see big things happening for NBA 2K21.
From a gameplay perspective, there's no denying that NBA 2K20 reigns supreme as the best basketball game you'll want to play this year. Sadly, 2K Games seems to be expanding its microtransaction plague throughout the experience to a point that it feels oppressive. Still if you're able to wade through the muck and deal with the advertisements and pay-to-win modes, you won't be disappointed by the stellar updates and excellent presentation you've come to expect.
NBA 2K20 features the best gameplay to date with a plethora of content to chew into at launch. It'll be interesting to see how the game shapes up throughout the year, even after a shaky launch. Launch bugs/glitches aside, NBA 2K20 is one of the better entries in the series.
A decent game is hidden beneath a money making machine.
A great game, as always, with a bad in-game purchases system and few aging problems.

As someone who loves basketball and NBA 2K, it hurts me to have such a negative opinion on the current state of the game. I want to be able to recommend this game to everyone and I hope the devs fix everything soon. When it works, NBA 2K20 is one of the best in the entire series, but those moments are too few and far between.
If you engage with the modes 2K seems to want to push most, you’ll have to deal with baggage that weighs down the experience.
NBA 2K20‘s MyCareer is a huge disappointment, and other modes have had minor improvements at best. All you’re really paying for is roster updates, WNBA and the opportunity to buy more VC. If that sounds like a good deal to you then jump in, but it really shouldn’t.
NBA 2K20 is no doubt the best option available if you want to play a good basketball game, but again there aren't many basketball games available in the market.
