Arise: A simple story Reviews
Arise: A Simple Story is a special game and it deserves your attention. The narrative, although like the title suggests is ‘simple’, how it’s told is not, and the game deserves to be lauded for this. The puzzles are fun with suitable challenge allowing you to progress through the game and experience the unique chapters with a smile on your face. If you’re a fan of artistic indie titles such as Brothers: A Tale of two Sons, Rime and Limbo then do yourself a favour, and check out this game. Not only does this game get the rare Thumb Culture Platinum Award, it’s also a game of the year contender!
While it may be simple in concept, Arise: A Simple Story delivers a real showstopper when it comes to its gameplay, offering up an innovative blend of aesthetic splendour and strong themes. It’s a beautiful, poignant journey not to be missed and one of the best games of the year.
A little and warm pat to heart of platforms games.

Playing Arise is often frustrating so I’d suggest being aware of that before playing it, but when the music, visuals and moments in the gameplay just mix perfectly it’s this colourful cocktail to pull on your feelings out of nowhere, because although it’s a simple tale, it’s one we can all relate to.
A beautiful, creative indie platformer that’s held back from classic status by its infuriatingly imprecise controls. The sumptuous journey is still very much worth it, though.
...If you’re a big as of a sap as I am but not as fussy about controls, Arise: A Simple Story is well worth the time. It's a story that stayed on my mind well after the closing credits.
Those who enjoy 3D platformers with a twist will love their time with Arise: A Simple Story and its gorgeous world.
Arise is largely filled with strengths that result in exactly what it promises to deliver: a simple narrative that also happens to be incredibly moving.

Arise: A Simple Story is pretty to look at, but the moment you have to start playing, it falls apart. A mish-mash of imagery, tone, gameplay, and narrative that seem okay on their own, but fail to come together.
Arise: A Simple Story is a success, it is a great experience with heartwarming story and beautiful melodies. recommended.

Ultimately, while Arise: A Simple Story has some wonderful ideas, it’s let down by unenjoyable gameplay.
Arise: A Simple Story is a gorgeous and touching tale of love and loss that nearly overcomes its constant platforming problems.
Arise: A simple story is an excellent work with a strong artistic atmosphere and narrative elements, which allows me to enter the perspective of an old man, start thinking to find a way out, and finally appreciate the true meaning of life and the beauty of the four seasons.

Arise: A Simple Story is a fantastic indie game from Piccolo Studio's, demonstrating incredible talent. The platforming is fun and engaging, allowing anyone to dive right in without too high of a skill gap. Each world is wonderful and vibrant, with each offering a unique and interesting platforming puzzle to make every level stand out in its own way. If you're a fan of games like Journey or Last Day of June, this game will definitely scratch that itch.
Arise: A Simple Story should be recognised as a beautiful and touching story, no matter its short length. It's a heartwarming and truly captivating journey – providing you allow yourself to be immersed in the narrative. With the stop/start nature of the loading screens and the long-winded gameplay, this can be hard but definitely worth pushing through.
Arise: A Simple Story creates an entire package whose diverse gameplay, beautiful environments, and touching story make for a fully immersive and unmissable experience.
Arise: A Simple Story, while being a simple game, has an immense amount of things going for it. Its time manipulation mechanic is well implemented and makes you want to explore each stage thoroughly. Its beautiful, soothing and very well made. I am sure most players will find something they like about this quirky little title, I for one, found a lot to like about it.
Arise: A Simple Story is a moving story about a man that relives the joy and the anguish of his past. Piccolo Studio's opera truly knows how to touch the soul of a player.
