Baldur's Gate 3 is a genuine all-timer, this really is as good as RPGs get, and it's an all-timer that's arrived on Series X in fine form aside from a pesky issue with deleted saves. Returning to Baldur's Gate and successfully serving up the best entry in the series to date must have been an absolutely monumental task, but Larian Studios has managed it with style to spare. With top class combat, writing, acting and world-building hiding all of the terrifying intricacies of a refreshed D&D rulebook, letting us players just get on with the fun stuff, there really is no finer adventure to take in 2023. What an absolute belter, and a perfect way to wrap up this most problematic of years in the industry.
Baldur's Gate 3 is one of the greatest RPGs of all time, and a testament to the talent of developer Larian Studios.
Baldur's Gate 3 is a gold standard for RPGs, setting the bar incredibly high for future games in the genre - and it's something I know I'll be coming back to time and time again in the future. With a cast of fleshed-out, fully realised characters; tactical turn-based combat that presents an opportunity to stop, think and plan your attack strategically; and a dizzying amount of customisable choices, BG3 is truly a roleplayer's dream.
Baldur’s Gate 3 easily cements itself as a titan of the roleplaying genre. With incredibly faithful recreations of D&D’s game system and lore, BG3 easily serves as a substitute to Dungeons & Dragons than can be played alone or with friends. If you’ve never played D&D, you’re in for a surprise as you learn just how much freedom and player expression is built into Baldur’s Gate 3’s truly unique experience.
Baldur’s Gate 3 isn’t just a return; it’s a renaissance of the RPG genre. Through intricate design, storytelling par excellence, and honoring the legacy of D&D, the game establishes itself as a titan in the gaming arena.
With a firm grip on GOTY, and a valid consideration for the best RPG of all time, Baldur's Gate 3 excels at every turn and enthralls with every twist.
It’s pure magic to bring up a quest line or character, and realise that you, and you alone, have stumbled onto their path by chance. It’s magic to realise just how far the game’s plot can stretch, and how it can account for even the smallest choices made along your path. In the same way Dungeons & Dragons allows you to live out a self-guided fantasy, Larian Studios has managed to capture and bottle a slice of that magic, in rare video game form.
Baldur’s Gate 3 was well worth the wait. The game truly captures the beauty and insanity of DnD and mixes it perfectly with the gameplay we have come to expect from the series. If you’ve played the first two games, then playing Baldur’s Gate 3 will feel like you’re seeing an old friend, one that has grown greater and better… and slightly more sexually inclined. Baldur’s Gate 3 is very much worth your time.
Baldur's Gate 3 is a game of epic proportions, and despite its scope it surpasses the expectations. With impressive visuals, memorable performances, and a dynamic world and engaging story, Baldur's Gate 3 is a game to be remembered for years.
Baldur’s Gate III is a rare masterpiece of an RPG with an engrossing storyline, stellar character interaction, and level of choice that makes it a must play for anyone interested in the genre.
Larian's mastery of RPGs is in full swing with Baldur's Gate 3 and at no point does the game pull its punches. This game is nothing short of a masterpiece.
Baldur's Gate 3 is, without a doubt, the most fantastic RPG I've ever had the opportunity to play and review. It offers an enjoyable experience with plenty of choices to make. With unprecedented freedom in the combat system and exploration, with full content without microtransactions, Baldur's Gate 3 is an authentic adaptation of Dungeons & Dragons. The game's size and the world's depth can be complex and overwhelming for newcomers to the genre. Baldur's Gate 3 reminds us that developers can trust the player and proves that putting together an exceptional title means risking hard work, which in this case, paid off. Baldur's Gate 3 has become the new standard that other RPGs will inherit for generations.

Baldur’s Gate 3 is a phenomenal success that I didn’t believe possible with an ambitious project like this. If anyone would do it, Larian Studios were the best choice. They’ve proven how vibrant and exciting this genre can be if you trust the developers to take their time, double down on what makes a game so much fun, and use an exciting system without taking too many creative tools away from players. Letting them go wild and thinking about how this could change the narrative and the world has been an incredible experience.
Baldur’s Gate 3 is possibly one of the greatest RPGs ever made. It’s a game you dream about when you’re not playing. It makes the possibilities feel endless, like your character’s story matters above all else. And in Baldur’s Gate 3 it does.
Baldur's Gate 3 delivers an adventure with the level of detail you've come to expect from great AAA titles. The way it presents itself, its cutscenes, graphics and facial expressions, all help to compose an epic work that combines complex combat with a rich world and a mission system that puts many current games to shame. Freedom is the word that reigns here: the freedom to create your character, resolve your conflicts, enter your plots, explore the world, relate, fight and survive. How you proceed in the Forgotten Realms is up to you.

Baldur’s Gate 3 is a masterpiece. Games like this don’t come along often, experiences that capture the zeitgeist so profoundly as to provoke scurrilous rumours that Larian Studios would come under legal action for making a game considered too good. From narrative to level design, combat to quests, character creation to romance, everything is fine-tuned to provide a gripping experience that provokes wonder and joy.
Baldur's Gate III already offers an unearthly amount of content and freedom. However, that doesn't change the fact that I and many other players would love to see the aforementioned sequel or DLC. Will that be the case? Time will tell, although the main factor determining the future of the brand will be, as usual, gamers' wallets. I, however, have nothing left to do but to recommend Baldur's Gate III to everyone. Fans of tabletop RPGs will feel like they're in paradise. And all the rest? They will experience one of the best games of the genre ever.

None of this even remotely takes away from the fact that anyone interested in Baldur’s Gate 3 should buy this and buy this now. To take nothing away from the excellent RPGs that have come out recently, I have waited over a decade for this type of crunchy, immaculately written, tactical fantasy RPG to be combined with the type of AAA presentation that Larian has achieved here. It’s a landmark title in the genre in the same way that Baldur’s Gate 1 and 2 were decades ago and will be remembered for years to come as the masterpiece that it is.
