STAR WARS: Squadrons is a very well-accomplished installment of the franchise. A complete surprise thanks to the effective combination of arcade action and hard simulation. However, not everything shines; the limited scope, in campaign and multiplayer, drags down what could be a solid entry in the franchise.

Star Wars: Squadrons offers some engaging gameplay and mechanical depth, which is great, given the overall focus on the multiplayer. But it's hard to ignore how little of the actuall content there is. You can beat story campaign in just about eight hours, and then you have to spend your time in only two online modes. It doesn't seem like developers are intersted in any post-launch support, so it'quite possible that the game will lose all of it's playerbase rather quickly.

The gameplay, presentation and depth are all strong with the force, but one of the two multiplayer modes keeps this space dogfighter from achieving the rank of master

Although there’s a bit less to the game than I’d have hoped for, Star Wars: Squadrons is well worth the price of admission, and there’s plenty of enjoyment to be found.

Speed and adrenaline are the fuel that makes Star Wars: Squadrons a must-have game not only for Star Wars fans, but for those who are also looking for a solid PvP combat experience in which skill will be the real differentiator to take your fighter squadron to victory.

Star Wars: Squadrons provides a well-grounded, in-depth gameplay that hardcore fans and flight-simulator veterans will definitely appreciate. It may not have the strongest story in a Star Wars game, but it does wonders in space combat and gameplay, this is where Star Wars: Squadrons gets it right.

Star Wars Squadrons is nothing if not an authentic experience. It's goal is to put you in the cockpit of a starfighter in the Star Wars universe, and to that end it succeeds admirably. An uninspired story serves as training for Fleet Battles, an epic multiplayer experience that recreates the best of Star Wars space combat in ways that no other games have. EA and Motive's firm stance on Squadrons as a standalone one-time-purchase experience is both commendable and the very thing that limits the viability of what it could grow into.

Involved flight mechanics and the pure joys of dogfighting fill Star Wars: Squadrons with plenty of highlights, even if its campaign and multiplayer experiences can leave you wanting.

The last game I can remember that had this kind of immersion was X-Wing: Alliance for the PC back in 1999. Motive Studios had a daunting task tackling a game that Star Wars fans have been craving for a long time. And for the most part, they stay on target.

An enticing multiplayer experience that does a fantastic job of slowly easing players into its intricate design, Star Wars: Squadrons is making its mark on the gaming world. As long as Motive Studios can keep up with this momentum, I can't see it crashing anytime soon.

Star Wars: Squadrons is a tightly designed experience with satisfying space combat gameplay at its core. Although it could use a bit more content and there are some issues to be ironed out, the title manages to remain engaging and entertaining with each new battle.

With an entertaining but forgettable story and a sparse but enjoyable multiplayer, Star Wars: Squadrons shines through with its gameplay. Flying is incredibly immersive and if you have a VR headset (and the stomach) this one boasts the quintessential immersive experience. For those without though, this feels like a decent but not-quite-great game.

When all is said and done, Star Wars: Squadrons is a truly awesome (and I use this word with the classic definition of "inspiring awe") experience for anyone looking for an arcade space shooter. For fans of the universe or anyone with a VR headset, it's a must-play. Sure, it has shortcomings in the single-player and it may not be as "hardcore" of a simulator as some were hoping for, but what Motive has delivered here is more than just a strong foundation. I genuinely hope they build off of it moving forward, either with updates or sequels, because it's hard not to love everything they've built.

Star Wars: Squadrons is a solid Star Wars game, but it will only have legs for a specific kind of player. If you are okay with more sim-based fliers instead of arcade ones, be sure to check this one out.

Star Wars Squadrons is 'the little gift' that fans of the franchise have the opportunity to enjoy. It has great accessibility and a good number of ships to get on board. This title climbs to incredible heights under the use of a virtual reality device. Despite its flat story, this title offers a solid multiplayer experience, which manages to greatly extend the longevity of the game.
