Heroes of Hammerwatch - Ultimate Edition Reviews
Heroes of Hammerwatch is a great culmination of everything developer Crackshell started with Hammerwatch.
An enjoyable little rogue-lite with a mountain's worth of replayability, Heroes of Hammerwatch is the perfect game for killing a little time either alone or with friends
Much more than just a sterling evolution of arcade legend Gauntlet, Heroes of Hammerwatch melds superbly robust dungeon crawling gameplay together with ingenious roguelike design to create the genre's next must-have title. If like me you missed out on Heroes of Hammerwatch when it first release, now is the time to correct that mistake. You won't regret it.
All you need to know about Heroes of Hammerwatch is that it's pretty damn addictive! It's hard to stop playing! Using simple and clear mechanics, this game is capable to get roguelike lovers into a rattling maelstrom of exploration and battles for many weeks.

Dispensing with frivolous window dressing like story and dialogue, Heroes of Hammerwatch give players direct access to its addictive dungeon crawling. Fun played solo – but riotous played with a group – Heroes of Hammerwatch does old-school gaming right, even though a bit more explanation of its systems might be welcomed by some players. With a ton of content to explore, Heroes of Hammerwatch is well worth the asking price. Highly recommended.
Heroes of Hammerwatch rescues the essence of Gauntlet by offering a simple, direct and challenging rogue-lite. Very enjoyable if we play with friends, although monotonous and repetitive if we decide to play it alone.

Heroes of Hammerwatch: Ultimate Edition is a game that works best with friends, and does a great job with how it balances gameplay and grind. This indie game is something you should add to your list of 'must-haves'.
To make it simple, there are really two ways to look at Heroes of Hammerwatch – Ultimate Edition. Either you decide you love the simple and engaging gameplay, the one where you run around, fight swarms of enemies and slowly build up the town or it's a grind-heavy mess. As a fan of the roguelike and roguelike genres, it falls more in the grind-heavy mentality, simply because the limits are less skill and more resources. Still, it's engaging enough to, if nothing else, get some fun out of it.
Heroes of Hammerwatch is rewarding, fun and the gameplay loop is very intelligently designed. Every time you return from a run through the dungeons, unless it was a complete disaster, you will be able to progress your town in one direction or another. I just wish some of the game was a bit easier to see on the Nintendo Switch's small screen.
One of the most addictive rogue-lites on the Nintendo Switch, Heroes of Hammerwatch blends classic action RPG progression with a hostile world design that'll have heroes second guessing every turn they make, and whether or not their next foe will be their last. Procedurally generated level design can never match up to thoughtful handcrafted stages, but HoH is able to cut the difference thanks to its easy to pick up gameplay loop, and an understanding that even the smallest bit of progress is meaningful. Between experimenting with classes, upgrading your town, and dungeon-eering with a trusted group of friends, Heroes of Hammerwatch is a must-play.
I've sunk dozens of hours into Heroes of Hammerwatch and eagerly await the chance to spend dozens more. With numerous layers of progression systems, multiple distinct classes and more content than seems reasonable for its low price tag, Heroes of Hammerwatch is a must-play for roguelike fanatics or people after their dungeon-crawling fix.
Heroes of Hammerwatch completely exceeded my expectations and this Ultimate Edition is one of my favourite indies of the year so far.
This is a title that has me feeling a bit torn...
Who doesn’t dream of being the town’s hero? Heroes of Hammerwatch Ultimate Edition allows you to do just that- after a lot of death.
Heroes of Hammerwatch is set within the same universe as 2017’s Hammerwatch. With the original release of Hammerwatch developer Crackshell delivered a game with satisfying combat and progression with a great pick-up and play style, whilst also catering to those of us who strive for a greater challenge.
Heroes of Hammerwatch is a game that grows on you. While definitely more fun with others I still had a lot of fun alone. It may have minor faults but I loved how I kept discovering something new about the game whether it was discovering a new mechanic or mastering the games traps. This is easily a title I’ll return to for years to come.
