Battletoads Reviews
Battletoads might just be Summer's sleeper hit. Despite some shortcomings, it's a punchy brawler with insanely charming animations and genuinely funny humor.
Battletoads is an excellent return for the series. It has stunning hand drawn graphics, a story that will make you laugh and backs it up with tight varied gameplay. It is a great game to play solo but really comes into its own with a friend playing and experiencing together.
Ultimately, I completed Battletoads in 3 hours and 45 minutes and have no intention of ever going back.
Battletoads is a victory for Microsoft, Dlala Studios and Rare. It successfully takes a brand that's been dormant for over two decades, breathing new life into it and updating it for the modern generation ardently. While it's a huge shame that Battletoads isn't playable online, and makes some missteps in it's third act, it's hard to deny that this is the most charming rendition of our favourite videogame amphibians. But most of all it's funny, and that's refreshing.
I suspect that fans of the original will find a good dose of nostalgia here that may well make it worth the price of admission. For everyone else… well, if you grew up in the 80’s and 90’s you might get a touch of nostalgia as well, unless you were more a Turtles fan like me, in which case this will simply continue making the Battletoads look like also-rans.
Battletoads is fun to play but far from perfect.

Battletoads' grand return largely sticks the landing. While some shortcomings make it a recommendation with caveats, it's still a fun, engaging, and clever game that fans of the genre should look into.
With its tens of games inside the game and humor, Battletoads is a pleasant surprise, witnessing the sheer amount of Xbox portfolio's diversity. It could be a little deeper here and there, and co-op could be online too, but Dlala's take on the franchise is a fresh and fun, recommendable experience.

Battletoads is fun, challenging and self-indulgent, but in ways that are respectful and reverent.
Despite an amazing art style and some seriously fun beat ‘em up gameplay, the Battletoads reboot struggles with its identity due to the excessive inclusion of minigames
Battletoads, with its vibrant animations, captures the spirit of the original, but also does so by bringing in all of the lousy gameplay elements that dragged the original game down.
Battletoads 2020 is for fans of Rick and Morty, and for those who enjoy insufferable hipster humor. The joke is that Rash and the boys are outdated, and the writers constantly reinforce this agenda of theirs; robbing Battletoads of its identity and making it indistinguishable from the endless dreck that oozes from Adult Swim’s sewer.
Battletoads is a stunning return for both the toads and Rare, a team that hasn't had much output recently. While it can become a little tedious to play alone, this is an excellent game to try with a small group of friends on a Friday night. Humour, variety of gameplay, and local co-op make this a great addition to anyone's library.
A fun and solid beat 'em up with some awesome speeder bike levels tossed in. Unfortunately, the game tries too hard to be funny and the character voices can get quite irritating.
Battletoads is a great game, a successful mix of many genres but one that doesn't excel in any of these. Particularly suited to those who love the variety of games, the exclusive Microsoft will disappoint those who expected a faithful return to the origins.

Battletoads is without a doubt one of the funniest games of this generation, and it's a pretty nifty beat 'em up to boot. It does have the occasional lull when things start to feel a little repetitive, but by and large it's a hugely entertaining experience and well worth your time.
Battletoads is a breath of fresh air to the saga and a successful beat'em up. Although it is repetitive in certain parts, especially in the beat'em up, it is a fun, fast and addictive proposal. Its charismatic characters will catch us from the first moment, inviting us both to continue advancing and to want to know the story until the end. It has been a whopping 16 years to enjoy a new installment of the saga, but the wait has been worth it. We hope it won't take that long to continue enjoying Rash, Pimple, and Zitz, because they deserve to stay long on Xbox Series X.

Battletoads could be a great game and a decent beat 'em up if the developers didn't focus so much on mediocre mini-games.

Battletoads is a strange collection of levels with different gameplay mechanics, and almost none of them are worth playing. Like an episode of a kids TV show, it looks nice and you might get something out of it - but it's quickly forgotten.
