Outriders is the type of game where players get what they put in. For those who want a pick-up and put-down RPG with an emphasis on story, Outriders has that covered. For those who want hundreds of hours of gameplay in tense and adrenaline-pumping combat with powerful builds, Outriders has that covered too. Ultimately, the strength of Outriders is how it connects to its players and what they want out of the game, meaning everyone walks away feeling different about it, and that can only be a good thing.

It’s a complete game straight out of the box; Outriders doesn’t feel like another one of those live service games - you know the type - where you’re encouraged to go online and do dailies, weeklies, and pretty much not miss out on limited-time rewards. It’s very refreshing, as I didn’t feel the need to question what’s next for Outriders; while I can walk away from the experience happy I’ve accomplished all I set out to do, I can easily see myself revisiting this game again in the future with another character to repeat the process all over again.

While it may deter the contrarian with a palette for complaining about the odd grinding session, Outriders’ prolific statement plays an important role, impacting the ongoing conversation within its subjugated and controversial genre. If anything, the title delivers us a complete package that will easily be adored by fans, and may categorically assert itself as one of its genre’s greatest achievements. An essential this generation.

Despite all of the ways that Outriders is stuck in the past, the moment to moment gameplay is so compelling that it's impossible to say it's not a blast -- especially with friends. It's also remarkably expansive in its crafting and skill trees, with plenty of ways to customize your playstyle. I may not be that invested in the story, and this certainly isn't that different from most first person shooters, but Outriders is well worth the time and effort. Even if there may be extra effort put in because of crappy server connections.

Outriders is a fun, engaging yet flawed game. The devs stuck to their guns and emphasized on their strengths and being true to the name of their studio – it aimed for the sky when producing its own loot-and-shoot action title, yet ultimately brought back down to reality by server issues.

Outriders confidently swaggers into your life with a sense of bravado and bombast that goes a long way to making up for a host of little niggles and rough edges. A blast of a game that will only get better with time and support

If you have the patience for it, I highly suggest that you give this game a try. Its combat mechanic is one of the best in its genre in years. Unlike its contemporaries in the same field, which are stereotyped as having vanilla storylines, this game’s story is engaging and awe-inducing. When this game works, it will send you on a fantastic journey worth going through. As soon as it fails, however, it fails tremendously. If that’s something you don’t have the patience for, just wait for a couple of months for updates and for the game’s server to become stable.

Outriders may not excel at anything in particular but it does enough right to keep things interesting. The gunplay is good, the core loop of finding new gear is fun and exploring Enoch with friends (or solo) is a blast.

At first glance Outriders might look like some other shooters such as Destiny or The Division, but its complicated and diverse combat help it stand alone and impress, and with some better support and polish can easily challenge other loot shooters in the market.

Outriders is a fantastic third person shooter with addictive loot mechanics, fun superhuman powers, and a solid narrative anyone without an aversion to foul language can enjoy.

If you're absolutely craving a new game that has tight gunplay and a loot loop that you can get into for a long period of time, Outriders definitely isn't your worst option. But if you have played a litany of games like this over the past few years, I'm hard-pressed to think that there is anything about this one that will resonate with you on a greater level.

Outriders may feel like a game from another era, with some structural design flaws, but it managed to be plenty of fun. I would easily recommend it to those looking for a new co-op game to enjoy with their friends, as the gameplay is fast, addictive, challenging and rewarding, successfully combining elements of adored games such as Borderlands, Destiny and Gears. The main problem though is the technical problems that drag down the experience.

Outriders isn't good, but isn't bad either. It has its strong sides, such as duels, which keep a number of negatives at bay; for example in the presentation of a mediocre story. Still, you can enjoy the game and make more out of it if you play with your friends. But it's definitely not for everyone.

But when it came time to put my gun down and watch a cutscene, I found myself wanting to pick up my phone. Outriders is worth playing for its story missions, which offer well-designed encounters and engaging gameplay. Outside these missions however, there's little worth seeing.

Outriders is simply and unapologetically Outriders. And that's what, despite its flaws, makes it stand tall. Because it owns its flaws and rough spots, all weathered with pride through a launch period that was as rough as the Outriders first landing on Enoch. Riding out that storm offers an experience that is simply fun to play, and its something that I consistently can't wait to get back to. High risk, high reward gameplay and crafting very tight and specific builds leads to an endlessly engaging gameplay loop. Balancing the power fantasy with challenge for players is a difficult task, but Outriders manages it well. It's far from a perfect game, but it's so undeniably honest in its pursuit of being exactly what it is that there's nothing else quite like it out there. And that itself is what makes Outriders so compelling. Because Outriders is just Outriders.

Outriders is a fresh, entertaining and fun game in its playability, but with a visual design and a plot that does not surprise or attract attention, full of clichés and elements that we have already seen before in many games. The combat system is quite deep and allows to develop the characters in a very particular way. Unfortunately its many glitches and performance issues take their toll on the title.

Although it features moments of satisfying action and a few good end-game design tweaks, the majority of Outriders experience consists of conflicting design ideas, technical issues in multiplayer, and poorly implemented borrowed mechanics.

Overall, besides the fun powers and intriguing world-building, I have to admit that Outriders isn't anything special to me as it doesn't do much to differentiate itself from other titans of the looter shooter genre. However, if you like sick powers and loot, then Outriders was made for you.
