As I came away from Ghostrunner and started writing about it, I realized that I genuinely wished there was more game to play. That's not a comment on the game's length, which is very well paced, filled with bonus collectibles and perfect for speedrunners, but more a comment on how much potential there is here. Give me more levels, more platforming gauntlets, more cybernetic abilities to use, just give me more Ghostrunner.

Ghostrunner is a first-person platformer set against a post-apocalyptic cyberpunk world. With an emphasis on fast-paced action, Ghostrunner is fun but stumbles due to frustrating combat and repetitive environments.

Frenetic action and precise manoeuvring add to this cyberpunk game in which success wobbles on a blade edge

I found joy in Ghostrunner where some would find frustration. The precision that is needed to meander through waves of enemies and platforming challenges sometimes seems overwhelming. However, when you finally overcome that tricky section you have been dying over and over on for a while, the feeling is magnificent. The PlayStation 5 updates really enhance Ghostrunner, especially the Dualsense controller, I do feel this is the best place to play this unique title.

While the fast loading times and updated graphics show off the beauty of Dharma City's neon-grunge aesthetic and keep players in the action, it's ultimately the same experience. Screen Rant's first Ghostrunner review perfectly sums up the PS5 version's experience, in that it's "Sometimes Fast, Sometimes Slow." Ghostrunner is a great game that provides a proper adrenaline rush when everything works as intended, but those hoping for any significant changes in this next-gen version will be disappointed.4

Ghostrunner is a game that elevates developers from One More Level to a completely new level. The project on display here is something truly special, something you can compare to the never-ending hard rush of adrenaline with great cyberpunk aesthetic design and soundscape.

Ghostrunner is a game of pain and suffering. Repetition sets in. It never deterred me from hitting continue though. This marks a nice balance of forcing players to master their combat, while also intriguing them to keep going. I absolutely had a blast and cannot wait to see the upgrades on next-gen consoles. This is not a game to sleep on, just be aware it may cause nightmares.

Thrilling combat, but not always graceful.

It will take quick decision making, precision platforming, and skill to beat Ghostrunner. Whilst many of its environments are dull in imagery, they are an important component as to why it plays so well. Its lacklustre story does not take away from the addictive, thrilling gameplay that will keep you coming back. Ghostrunner is an exhilarating, challenging, adrenaline pumping platformer that succeeds in making you feel like a cyborg ninja.

Without my suffering-tinted lenses, Ghostrunner is a fast-paced, tough-ass platformer. Every stage is a non-stop barrage of fresh new challenges. Death is around every corner if you ever stop moving. You’ll experience crushing defeat in a host of different ways, but your victories will be all the sweeter. You can choose your path to victory, with multiple routes available through some of the larger stages. On the aesthetic side of things, more or less every stage is drenched in cyberpunk minutiae. The neon, the grime, and the violence lend an electric urgency to your already death-defying exploits. My only warning is this: know what you’re in for first. First-person action platform games aren’t for everyone. Of course, I had to play one to discover this, so who knows! Maybe a new favorite subgenre is waiting in the wings.

Ghostrunner is a pure game: if you came for a parkour adrenaline rush with katana swords, you are in for a treat. The fast pace and good variety of levels and enemies will keep you playing for longer than you expect, and you will barely notice the "meh"-grade graphic.

Ghostrunner is a very well-crafted first-person action game featuring a lightning-fast pace, a very smooth parkour system, and tight platforming in addition to weighty, satisfying combat. The high challenge level and the one-hit-kill system, however, can lead to some serious frustration, as it requires a level of effort that not all players may be willing to put in the game. As such, Ghostrunner is a game that only the most hardcore of action games players will fully appreciate.

‎Run, jump on a wall, another and another, surround our enemy sliding, throw the hook, position ourselves behind it to frame 3 in a row and with a single button leave a relentless trail of blood. To get to choreograph that scene, you need to learn, you need to try and you need to have the skill. ‎‎The result at the controls is totally addictive because of its frenetism and the imperative need to continue advancing.‎‎ If we add to that that we already have a native version for the new generation that brings all the necessary cargo including Ray Tracing, the cocktail is devastatingly fun.‎

Ghostrunner is an excellent action game that can be a blast to play for short bursts, but not so much when spending a whole evening with it.

Ghostrunner is an all-around great action game. The first-person parkour mechanics will make you feel like a badass, as will chopping up bad guys. The game doesn't always control perfectly, but everything still comes together to create an awesome, action-packed cyberpunk experience.

Ghostrunner is a very plesant surprise for anyone who likes to keep gameplay at the center of their experience - to the detriment of the narrative side. Accurate in 99% of cases, it challenges both your sagacity and your reflexes. Those are what you will need to sharpen in order to be able to improve your scores on your second run and to benefit from all the capacities of your character. If you like Super Meat Boy and/or Mirror's Edge and adhere to the Cyberpunk worlds, don't miss Ghostrunner !

Unrivalled parkour mechanics and tough-as-nails combat more than make up for a bland cyberpunk setting.

Ghostrunner is a breath of fresh air. It takes the best parts of Hotline Miami and Mirror's Edge, sprinkles in its own style, and hands players a unique experience. Every single minute is a thrill ride that keeps the player packed full of adrenaline, and it doesn't stop until the end of each level. It's an immensely enjoyable and satisfying experience that will have you on the edge of your seat trying to master each segment. However, as the price point currently stands you're getting about 5 hours of content for $30, with the only replayability coming from leaderboard rankings.

Ghostrunner is a very well-made game with excellent graphics and tight controls, but it's often frustrating, with a very uneven difficulty curve and some horribly tedious sections. Plus, once you're done with the campaign, all that's left is to do it again.

Ghostrunner is an action-packed cyberpunk adventure full of speedy action. Graphically speaking, Ghostrunner really feels like a next-generation experience. The level design and combat feel satisfying and well-done, although bosses could have been better.
