Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Extraction Reviews
There’s some good ideas at play here, and it’s competently put together, but so far Rainbow Six Extraction feels fairly flat. The Archaeans simply aren’t all that interesting to fight against, their designs rather bland, and their introduction sitting at odds with what the Rainbow Six and Tom Clancy franchises have been about since the late 90s. It’s an inoffensive tactical co-op that’s good for a few short and sharp missions, but is that enough? We’ll report back soon with our full review.
An absorbing, tactical three-person co-op game that does well to expand the Rainbow Six gameplay into a more fantastical setting.
A very demanding tactical multiplayer, which takes advantage of the agents and mechanics of Rainbow Six to propose cooperative raids against archaea. At the moment, it has 4 locations (12 maps), which is a good starting point, although we are confident that its proposal will continue to grow during the coming months.

Effective in the mechanical and with enormous potential for its creators to nourish it with more content in the future, Rainbow Six Extraction is a safe bet for those who love zombies, but with a proposal that is clearly oriented towards the tactical and towards offering a more demanding experience than usual. My advice is to do a little bit of your part and don't be afraid of it, because it may be your next recurring game of the coming months.

To be honest, Rainbow Six Extraction is a good PvE shooter that works very well when played with friends and offers great gunplay. Well, it is also true that the overall balance is not optimal and the difficulty rate is sometimes too high, but if you are a fan of Rainbow Six: Siege then you will be able to gloss over these negatives.

While it doesn’t execute fully with its foundation, it does take more risks than I expected, to the point where it’s going to be worth a look for some folks — but only just so.
As long as you know that it's dangerous to go alone, Extraction is a blast. With Ubisoft Montreal looking to add more content in the future, I'll be ready to exterminate alien parasites for a long time to come.
Rainbow Six Extraction is a game that struggles to leave the shadow of its predecessor behind, but that sounds like a bit of an injustice too. Ubisoft has tried to replicate the success of Siege‘s Outbreak mode and the game is a fun, challenging, and competent co-op shooter for groups of three friends. Unlike other co-op shooters, it can even be enjoyed by solo players to an extent. However, the repetitive mission objectives and forced grind mean that long periods of play can become tedious. There’s also not a lot of endgame content right now to keep players coming back, unlike Siege that is still going strong many seasons later. Only time will tell if this game will achieve that longevity.
Rainbow Six Extraction is a mixed bag of right and wrong. It's carried primarily from its tactical, yet intense gameplay. In concept, it strays completely away from what actually defines a Tom Clancy game.
Rainbow Six Extraction delivers consistently engaging and satisfying gameplay that fans of tactical shooters will undoubtedly enjoy. However, its longevity and overall appeal seem uncertain.

As much as I enjoy the moment-to-moment gameplay of Rainbow Six Extraction and have had a blast with it both solo and in co-op, it's impossible to overlook the glaring balance issues and lack of any kind of appealing endgame it has at the moment.
When Extraction plays well, it plays excellently. That’s no doubt that, in part due to the strong foundations that helped to define Siege as an incredibly detailed first-person shooter, and by scaling back to focus on a co-operative experience, Extraction has done well to retain the look and, more importantly, the feel of its competitive counterpart while carving out its own niche. When its sights are aligned it hits more often than it misses, and fans of the Rainbow Six series will find plenty to like about this spin-off.
We can’t recommend Rainbow Six Extraction if you’re planning on playing alone, especially on PlayStation platforms where you’re expected to pay £40 for the privilege, but if your regular gaming group is bored of the game you play every night, and they all have Game Pass, Extraction will provide laughs.
This tense co-operative shooter is thoroughly entertaining, as much for the ideas it borrows as the ideas it comes up with
I enjoyed playing Extinction, even with the randoms who were just trying to be agents of Chaos. But I don’t think I would spend a lot of time with it, these days with so many great games as choices it has become harder and harder to want to comment to one that requires a large amount of grinding. And that is what Extraction would require, as players need to level up to unlock gear, weapons and even levels. Unless it’s telling me an epic story like God of War, Persona or Halo Infinite anymore I just wanna get in, have some fun and get out. Which you can do with Extraction, again with the right group of friends. Other than that, with difficulty spikes as a solo player, and the unstable randos players will be bound to run into online, I don’t see this being much more…which is a shame because Rainbow deserves better. Pray for Sam Fisher.
Rainbow Six Extraction includes some interesting mechanics and a core gameplay loop that you can find fun in. However for all the positive aspects, the big issue is how quickly it falls apart into a grindy, frustrating mess while trying to play solo.
Rainbow Six: Extraction's core gameplay is decent, and its level variety is great, but the game definitely has some blind spots. While a zombie title focused on stealth and tactics makes for an interesting experience, anytime the game strays from that, it's less successful. It draws extra attention to weak spots, like unimpressive AI and an obnoxious RNG progression system. Go in with a couple of friends, though, and you will get some fun out of this. All the levels are visually distinct and interesting to look at, and three squad members stealthing their way through a field of enemies can be immensely rewarding. It's just unlikely to hold your attention in the long term.
Not only is Rainbow Six Extraction a great cooperative shooter, it also differentiates itself from most of the competition by promoting a more tactical, reasoned approach: the Archean threat is not to be underestimated, as things are always a poor decision away from tourning sour for your team. It's a real shame that you have to unlock almost everything though, difficulty levels included.
