This was an experience that’s clearly cant capture the attention of a wide audience but only those with a preferred taste for something unique but not always in a good way and ofcourse those who played the first game and eager for more story content, there’s however some fun to be had for the everyday gamer with its fun puzzles and multiable characters control with many fighting styles and skills but the majority of the game is slow-paced and got an uninteresting world design that fails to capture the wanted art style which adds to the fact that not everyone will love its grindy missions and repetitive ideas.

NEO: The World Ends with You is the perfect combination of all style, all substance. It’s gorgeous to look, it’s one hell of a feast for your ears, but above all, it’s a fantastic JRPG-beat ’em up hybrid. It has a fantastic story, intriguing characters, and an excellent combat system that is easy to learn but very hard to master.

When I played The World Ends with You on my Nintendo DS back in 2008, I was struck by how vibrant and wonderfully unique the game is. I’d hoped for more for years, especially after teases found in the ports. Now we’re back in Shibuya for NEO TWEWY, and it is the sequel the original deserved. Yet, at the same time, it stands tall on its own merits and is a welcoming experience for people completely unfamiliar with the series.

The game is extremely addictive and although it is quite confusing at first, you end up entering the game just like Rindo and his friends. It has flaws (very repetitive combats, little variety of enemies) although it more than makes up for them with a story that develops slowly, but that is getting interesting from the first day of the week of the game.

NEO: The World Ends With You stands on its own merits among the great releases of this 2021, succeeding in the challenge of being the sequel to a cult work.its freshness, variety, rhythm and immediacy, in conjunction with its intriguing story and surprisingly good script, make it an almost safe bet, although perhaps the apparent simplicity of the redesigned combat system may cause division among fans of the first installment.

NEO: The World Ends With You was worth the wait. Its brilliant narrative matches its stylish design and fast-paced battle system making it difficult to put down. The game’s development is fueled by the love of the fans, and it shows during every moment of gameplay. While playing, the gap between entries disappeared, and I was transported back to this fantasy Shibuya, hanging out with friends and going on a truly memorable adventure.

Despite some gameplay issues and lack of innovation compared to the title that preceded it , NEO: The World Ends with You it has fun and accessible battles, an excellent and diverse soundtrack, a plot full of character, an inviting ambiance for character development and, above all, a very coherent overall design around some of Shibuya's popular culture. As such, it's an easy recommendation for anyone who liked its predecessor or who enjoys more dynamic action JRPGs.

It’s not an instant classic, but I think fans of the original are going to really find stuff to like here. And if you’re like me and never played the original, you still owe it to yourself to give this one a solid look. The weirdness of its controls and some of its quirks mean that it might not be for everyone… but give it a fair shot, and I have a feeling you’re going to get a lot more out of it than you might initially expect.

If you’re in the mood for something weird, different looking and of the RPG variety, give it a go. For those wanting an easy, predictable game to settle into - ignore.

NEO: The World Ends With You doesn't reach to the heights of the previous game in the series. Graphics, story, the world and its characters can still catch everyone that loves the style of Nomura, which also counts for the soundtrack but the endless backtracking, the still images during cutscenes with a lot of missing audio in the animated dialogues and not really up to date technical aspects deliver a tedious experience. If you can live with that or you're a big fan of the first game you'll still have some fun.

NEO: The World Ends With You does absolutely everything right and although the story loses its steam in some parts, the bombastic combat, lovable characters and the stylish visuals present one of the most unique experiences you can dive into.

NEO: The World Ends With You feels as slick and stylish as the original, with the enjoyable combat and fantastic narrative pulling everything together. There’s plenty to love about the world, its characters, and the challenging situation they find themselves in, whilst the many twists of the story will keep players enthralled until the end. Add to that the intuitive pin system, the variety of tasks to complete, and the gorgeous visuals, and it’s clear that NEO: The World Ends With You is a very impressive RPG. It took fourteen-years for a sequel to The World Ends With You to release, but you know what? The wait was worth it. Hopefully we won’t have to wait quite as long to play the Reaper’s Game again next time around…

NEO: The World Ends With You is the sequel that no one saw coming. It does everything a sequel should do in offering an additional experience while following the themes and tones of what came before it. It's a visual buffet with gameplay in buckets to back it up and has a tale to tell that you'll never see coming. So what are you waiting for? It's time to play the game!

NEO: The World Ends with You stands strong among a sea of releases, and is a worthwhile entry whether or not you’ve played the first game from 2007. The story of a game organized by Reapers is interesting enough, but the fun combat system and catchy soundtrack wrap it up in a fantastically presented package that is nothing but a treat to play.

a love letter of some sorts but its unique attributes – from its translation to 3D, a new cast of quirky characters, absolutely gorgeous overlay and incredible sound design – makes this entry a must play in its own right. Sure, without “The World End with You” attached to its title, it may have been somewhat questionable, but NEO’s clear delivery in Story, Gameplay, Presentation and Sound, which is what we base our reviews on, makes this an extraordinary feat for both h.a.n.d. and Square Enix. Definitely in our favourites for Game of the Year.
