Made in Abyss: Binary Star offers a unique challenge that's worth trying, but it needs some quality-of-life improvements to be worth paying full price.

I wouldn’t even tell fans of the show to play it.

Unfortunately, I didn't enjoy my time and cannot recommend it as a must-play. I am unsure if anime fans might find more enjoyment in being able to interact with the world, but it is hard for me to see that as the saving grace for this game.

Strange choices hide what is a challenging but flawed survival RPG with Made in Abyss: Binary Star Falling into Darkness being the type of game only a fan would enjoy.

This game should be tossed into the depths of the titular abyss.

A bizarre adventure through and through, Made in Abyss is an excellent adaptation of a very popular and interesting anime! The gameplay loop, story and design make this a great little adventure game with plenty of unique challenges and gameplay elements. For fans of the anime this is a no-brainer, absolutely buy it and enjoy! For non-fans, if this genre appeals, then this game is one to watch. It's absolutely worth the time it takes to learn how to play it correctly, even if the goal is just to see what gruesome event takes place next!

Made in Abyss: Binary Star Falling into Darkness has all the potential makings of a great anime game adaptation, but it, unfortunately, ends up falling short. Its frustrating mechanics and lengthy mandatory tutorial mean that you’ll have to put up with a lot in order to get to the best part. If you’re a big fan of Made in Abyss, you may be able to look past these flaws, but otherwise, I’d wait for a polished sequel.

All in all, Made in Abyss: Binary Star Falling into Darkness sadly provides a more frustrating experience than enjoyable. Despite making a good effort to adapt the series' best attributes, its gameplay, short story, and poor performance greatly hinder the overall experience.

If you’re a fan of Made in Abyss, then Made in Abyss: Binary Star Falling into Darkness will certainly interest you; however, those unfamiliar with the story should wait for an update or two before taking the plunge. The premise is amazing, the story is intriguing, and the dark emotional depths it delves into genuinely shocked me on multiple occasions, but the going is slow and the execution is clunky. There’s a fantastic survival game here unlike any other that presents well on the surface, but dive deeper and you’ll find a whole slew of balancing issues that desperately need sorting. Keep an ear to the ground for a more balanced Made in Abyss: Binary Star Falling into Darkness — there’s something waiting for players at the bottom of all this, but the journey is far more excrutiating than it needs to be at the moment.

To conclude, Made in Abyss: Binary Star Falling into Darkness (man that’s a mouthful) stays true to it’s origins while allowing players to experience Riko’s and Reg’s adventure first hand. Afterwards, you’ll be able to try your hand at surviving the Abyss yourself. If you like crafting and surviving dangerous terrain, then try your hand at becoming a Cave Raider. Just be prepared to die… a lot. Trial and error, but you’ll come out stronger in the end, right? Binary Star gets my review rating of 7 out of 10. Now then, let’s see if you can survive the madness of the Abyss.

Made in Abyss is an interesting title that features a premise and plot that faithfully follow the anime experience and even prove to be truly captivating. The way it blends character development elements with inventory management and survival mechanics is well implemented and introduces a welcomed differentiation . Mainly the concept of the variation of depth affecting the gameplay, it's an aspect that puts us in a different mindset from all other games. However, the title's pacing works against itself, as it is full of moments that cut the natural course of the story. Particularly noteworthy is the amount of content-filling missions, which could be avoided or reworked. Fundamentally, this is a title that allows anime fans to interact with their favorite characters and live their own adventure as explorers of the abyss! All this while visiting the captivating and intriguing areas of the deep!

Made in Abyss: Binary Star Falling into Darkness is a beautiful-looking game with an interesting story, unfortunately, you have to play through the repetitive Hello Abyss mode first before you can get to the really good parts in Deep in Abyss.

I can’t imagine the niche for this game will be too big, but even as someone who doesn’t know the anime, I found myself enjoying the unique take on hell that Made in Abyss throws at players. Once you learn to play it within its rhythms, rather than expect it to be something more conventional, it has a charm all of its own.

Made in Abyss: Binary Star Falling into Darkness is an excellent game adaptation of the original material. It definitely allows [the player] to live the experience of being a cave raider in the relentless Abyss with all the challenges this job presents. Unfortunately, its merits almost entirely end here. Making the most out of what made Made in Abyss such an enticing story is hindered by obstacles such as a tutorial campaign of dubious efficacy and mechanics implemented without the due care to add features that contribute to good gameplay instead of doing the opposite [, that is, bad gameplay experience]. Fans of Akihito Tsukushi's work will probably be able to ignore these issues and make the most out of the moments in the universe of Riko, Reg and the other characters, but thinking outside this niche, we don't have a good example of action RPG.

Made in Abyss Binary Star Falling is not a bad game, it is definitely fun and full of challenging elements typical of a survival RPG, however it is lacking in many points. The technical aspects and the overly basic and poor animations, especially compared to competitors in the same genre of videogames, making it a title suitable only for die-hard Made in Abyss fans.

While Made in Abyss: Binary Star Falling into Darkness sports an excellent art direction and adapts the early part of the series' story quite well, it unfortunately fails to provide an enjoyable gameplay experience.

Made In Abyss: Binary Star Falling Into Darkness is a game with good ideas, but poor execution and an awful adaptation of the source material. Both the gameplay and the story leave something to be desired and the only abyss that the game will inhabit being that of oblivion.
