High On Life is an FPS that does not shine in terms of gameplay or technical compartment but has on its side a very strong component of comedy and madness that winks a lot at Rick and Morty, just to fans of the series we strongly recommend trying the title, perhaps taking advantage of the opportunity to try it through Game Pass. Should you not be interested in the comedy component, however, we do not fully recommend the title given its major shortcomings in gameplay and technical compartment.

High On Life is a very ambitious game for what it sets out to do. The humor is constant and is always charming. The combat has complexity and the boss battles are filled with charm. Performance issues and some lackluster balancing doesn't ruin the experience. A great addition to Game Pass and I hope Squanch Games continues with quality titles like this.

High on Life is a decent enough game that doesn't quite live up to its potential. The combat feels unfocused and lacks depth, while the story and humor only hit their stride in the final moments. Still, it's worth a playthrough if you enjoy the more aggressive side of shooters with some light platforming.

Squanch Games created by Justin Roiland presents us with a new, beautifully absurd sci-fi adventure, filled with his signature humor choices (just look at the game premise and its name), goofy characters, and extremely inventive game design. If you love the likes of Rick and Morty you'll surely love the direction this offensively brilliant game goes. Sure, there are some performance issues and sometimes you wonder if this is just an average shooter but then you realize you're playing a game with TALKING GUNS!!!

Though a little unpolished in places, High on Life surprises with its fast-paced combat, enhanced traversal upgrades, and yes, even its humor. This game from Rick and Morty creator Justin Roiland won't be for everyone, but it's an easy recommend for anybody that enjoys a vulgar, humorous romp infused with DOOM-style combat.

If you are looking for a game that will make you laugh, High On Life is the one. It's a bare bones FPS with acid humor, brilliant characters, and it's filled with absurd situations; it will make you feel inside an Adult Swim series. However, its limited exploration and rhythm, the game is better committed to making you laugh rather than shoot.

High on Life is a decent FPS with great voice acting and an interesting new universe to explore. While I didn’t find any point in the game where I laughed out loud, if you are someone who enjoys the humor of Rick and Morty, then you will likely enjoy this experience as well. Just be aware that at different points the subject matter can be offensive to some, and the swearing is pretty much constant. High on Life may even be too much for some fans of Justin Roiland. While players won’t find anything new for mechanics and world traversal that has not been in other FPS titles, it is a good set of bones for future DLC and/or sequels.

An unsatisfying shooter brought even lower by an exhausting and all-encompassing script, High on Life can't commit to its satire or ideas long enough to do anything of value.

Though it has plenty of great ideas, High on Life is too overbearing and never quite commits to its best moments.

High on Life has a particular vibe, one that rewards patient exploration and persistence. The dialogue is a lot to handle, yes. And not every weapon is a winner. The wrong Gatlian can leave you both overwhelmed and unimpressed. But the look, the sound of this game is truly remarkable. This is an alien world that’s crammed full of curious details. The visuals are delicious, the soundtrack is mostly bangers, and the boss fights are well-crafted. Whatever problems I had with the pacing were (mostly) wiped away by that final challenge. It turns out a little spectacle goes a long way. If you can handle Justin Roiland’s unique sense of humor, you’ll want to check out High on Life.

High On Life is an anarchic take on the first-person shooter genre, replete with improvisational, off-color humor and a bizarre tone that few other games can match. Even if you don't vibe with its comedy style, though, High On Life still offers tight gameplay, with plenty of ways to customize your playstyle.

High on Life is nothing if not unique, though its writing and mechanics only go so far.

High on Life is a game that keeps its promises. Underneath a skin made up of over the top humor there is a biting irony towards a genre (old school FPS's) which has far too many tropes to make fun of (and here not even one is left behind). The sometimes chaotic level design, combined with not exactly exciting boss fights, risks overshadowing the merits of the Squanch Games game, but a good sum of game mechanics manages to keep everything afloat, waiting for the next joke and the resulting laugh.

High on Life is one of those games that have a lot of good ideas but the implementation of said ideas doesn't feel well done. Without a doubt the game explores some interesting topics on it campaign, but its gunplay and mechanics doesn't feel as polished as you might expect.

Despite having a number of fun and interesting ideas, High on Life falls short of its full potential. The new game from the co-creator of Rick and Morty will give you a good time, but only that.

High on Life kept me busy for about 12 hours and almost every minute I had a smile painted on my face. If you like the humor of Rick and Morty and Justin Roiland, start downloading already. If, on the other hand, you want a more grounded and serious experience, I can't recommend High on Life so easily, as the whole experience is clearly based on this extreme sense of humor.

High on Life shows why not all games are supposed to be GOTY material. Sometimes we play game for pure entertainment purposes and nothing more. that being said, it shouldn't be used to excuse game's technical problems or its ample issues. High on Life delivers an entertaining experience, but filled with technical problems and other shortcomings that can't be ignored.

Humor is the most important thing about High on Life. It single-handedly decides about how you will feel about the game. If it works for you, everything should.

A pretty funny romp that never quite finds its speed both as a shooter and as a comedic story. It's unlikely you'll be bored with High on Life.
