I sincerely enjoy what ONE PIECE ODYSSEY DELUXE EDITION offers and hope to see a sequel that adds a lot of challenge and variety because without those 2 ingredients, Luffy's RPG adventure feels like it's lacking booty. ☠️
One Piece Odyssey could have been the game of the year in the early 2000s. Now, it's just a dated relic of a series that's best remembered for what it was, and not what it's become.

One Piece Odyssey is one of those titles where you can lay back in bed before heading to sleep and put some time into the title and lose track of time super quickly.
One Piece Odyssey is a stunningly brilliant game that’s full of charm, put together with love and a guiding hand from the series creator himself. Odyssey is the perfect game for any long time One Piece fans and even perfect for those looking for a new game with a classic RPG feel to it. The characters are wonderfully portrayed, the story is interesting and the gameplay is wonderfully pieced together. The overworld is full of colourful scenery while the combat is fast-paced and well balanced. You can see how much love, care and planning went into the game as a whole and it’s one I can see myself playing for quite a while to come.
One Piece Odyssey caters to both aficionados of the JRPG genre and longtime fans of the famous anime alike. The exploration especially feels great (when the reigns are let loose) and the animation is simply fantastic. The AI combat is both a blessing and a curse, as I found myself keeping it on for the entire duration of the game and it may be too easy, but other than this it’s a solid recommendation, though maybe not for everyone.
ONE PIECE ODYSSEY is a very ambitious game based on the popular series, which features great character models that are very well animated, has a surprisingly memorable soundtrack, and has super fun dialogues, almost feeling like they were written by Oda himself. However, it suffers a bit from trying to please all audiences at the same time with contrasting ideas and mechanics, trying to bring both a new story and at the same time it is a retelling of past arcs; and managing to create an innovative combat system that is unfortunately accompanied by several mechanics that don't make you need to engage with it to its full potential.

A Wonderfully Fun JRPG Romp
One Piece Odyssey is an excellent product that will delight fans of the saga and JRPGs. You need to enjoy the genre before venturing into this latest chapter, as it differs significantly from previous action-heavy installments, offering a more technical and paced experience despite the wonderful battle animations. The gameplay is solid and satisfying, with the only minor flaw being the low difficulty, allowing for smooth gameplay until facing bosses that provide a bit more challenge. The environments and characters are faithful to the anime, bringing a smile to fans' faces, especially in Memoria, where old faces appear, adding a bit of uncertainty to the story that makes it enjoyable and not just a recap of past events. Highly recommended, and let's hope other famous brands take inspiration from this title to provide new and exciting RPG stories (Naruto, cough cough...).

One Piece Odyssey is a potential turning point in the history of video game adaptations of Eiichiro Oda's masterpiece. Drawing on the more traditional characteristics of JRPGs, the ILCA development team pours into the title an obvious love for the source material, enriching it with interesting ideas especially in the intriguing combat system. However, the production is not exempt from some problems related to pacing management, which is excessively flat in some phases, as well as an all too modest difficulty curve. Despite these considerations, the Bandai Namco title is a good JRPG but above all a dream come true for fans of the opera, which we hope will be just the beginning of a new, promising saga.

One Piece Odyssey is more than just an incredible adaptation of Eiichiro Oda's work; it's a solid and extremely fun RPG. While the title offers a richer experience for fans of the source material, it's still a journey worth exploring for any enthusiast of the genre.

“One Piece Odyssey” is an RPG made for “One Piece” fans. While you will get a lot of enjoyment out of it even if you don’t know much about the series plot due to its retrospective nature, it is better suited for those who either want to get into the franchise or remember some of its memorable set pieces. And, even if you don’t end up enjoying the plot, the combat – although easy – will keep you going due to its dynamic nature and amazing visuals.

It’s clear a lot of effort was taken to get this game just right, it instantly feels higher in quality compared to other One Piece games and does act as a true celebration of One Piece’s 25th anniversary. Odyssey doesn’t just feel like a generic game that’s been created with a licensed anime skin thrown on top like we’ve seen many times in the past with other anime titles. It’s apparent a lot of care was taken across it’s 5 year development time to make sure the game was fun to play, filled with great characters and is enjoyable for players whether they’re existing fans of One Piece or if they’re jumping into the game because they love JRPGs that take players on grand adventures.
One Piece Odyssey is Bandai Namco’s first great game in 2023 and a title in which fans of Eiichiro Oda’s work have placed great confidence, and in general terms, I think they will not be disappointed. In command of this new adventure for Luffy and his friends is the hand of ILCA, who had already done a great job with Dragon Quest 11, a game that draws a lot from it in all the right aspects.
While One Piece Odessey might not be for everyone, it had its hooks on me. The gameplay is fun but can sometimes be repetitive, and there are times when I wanted more variety, but the story was solid, and that's what kept me coming back.
One Piece Odyssey is a very good transfer of the anime in the field of gaming and especially in the genre of turn-based RPGs.

Odyssey adapts in a great way the Turn-based mechanics of Persona for a franchise that is known for its bombastic action. Some side quests can feel quite repetitive as the game progresses, but is a must for every One Piece RPG fan.

Games based on anime are notorious for two things: being arena fighter Musou games and retreading the source material. So when Bandai Namco announced that the new One Piece game would be a full-fledged JRPG with an original story written by Eiichiro Oda himself, it sparked interest throughout the entire fandom. Thankfully, developer ILCA has largely managed to deliver an engaging adventure for fans and JRPG enthusiasts alike. Despite some rough edges, One Piece Odyssey stands out as one of the best games based on an anime in recent memory.
Die-hard One Piece fans will be able to appreciate the game as an interactive reminiscence of its arcs with minor redesigns. Yet, those looking for a bold and unique game may need to look elsewhere.
One Piece Odyssey was a blast to play. It felt like I could watch a new adventure of One Piece unfold right before my eyes. The way everything was set up and played out was a great experience. The pricing here is set in the right spot since, as of writing this review, it’s still relatively new. The Steam cost of Odyssey was $60, but I could see the price dropping to $50 easily in the future. $60 isn’t a bad price for the game right now, as I’m having much fun with it. For anyone wishing to buy One Piece Odyssey, happy travels, and may your pirating adventure await you!
