A solid title, not because of improvements made during the remastering process, but rather the strength of the original creation. Sure, it looks a little bit nicer, and the photo mode is a nice addition, but this is primarily the same game that it was five years ago.

With a 1080p resolution bump and a smoother frame-rate, God of War III retains its place as one of the mightiest brawlers ever made. You can quibble about the lack of new features or the failure to upgrade and include the earlier two games, but when a game delivers this much intense, imaginative and downright magnificent spectacle you're almost helpless to resist.

God of War III Remastered is a must-buy for those that missed out five years ago, but while the game's not full-price, veterans are probably better off waiting for a PS4-native sequel.

It all feels like a bit of a missed opportunity. Had it been a compilation of all three numbered God of War titles, it'd be easy to recommend without hesitation, but as it stands now it's only really worthwhile for God of War neophytes.

Stunning graphics, vivid presentation, gripping audio, and an aggressive price point make this remaster a worthy way to celebrate God of War's 10th anniversary.

It's not the polishing of the old that makes it worthy of the current gen, but how far the game is willing to present a twist on mythology.

Touting fluid, sixty-frames-per-second gameplay and beautifully enhanced visuals, God of War III Remastered exists as the definitive version of one of the world's best action games.

Some may wonder why it's so high-priced, or why certain aspects of the game weren't as polished as the rest of it. But God of War III Remastered shows that Sony Santa Monica is more than ready for PS4 development, and that means we're in for something cool whenever Kratos decides to cover new territory. In the meantime, give his god-pummeling journey a revisit.

God of War III Remastered delivers exactly what it says: a prettier version of the same game you played five years ago. Those looking for the same experience will find it, and those looking for something new or a fresh take on the series won't get much out of this remaster.

There's no denying that God of War III is one of the great titles in the hack n' slash genre, and it looks better than ever before.

God of War III is still an excellent game five years later. The Remastered version is the best way to play it, but, it's a somewhat underwhelming release because it is so similar to the PS3's Ultimate Edition. This is not a Definitive Edition technically, but more content and thus value would have been great to see included here.

Not a great package, but a truly great game

[I]t seems slightly overpriced for the ability to play the game on PlayStation 4, as it clearly does not feature such an substantial update as some of the other remastered editions. Even so, for people who have never sampled the sweet taste of revenge with Kratos, there is plenty to enjoy with God of War III Remastered, and can be recommended for anyone who wants to see what the God of War series is all about, as the third entry showcases plenty of the franchise's best bits.

God of War 3 Remastered on PS4 is all the fun you had with God of War 3 on PS3, but with slight improvements. With no backwards compatibility offered on the PS4, it's worth a pickup if you're a fan of the game looking to relive some pretty epic moments. For newcomers, regardless of story, you'll appreciate the graphical fidelity and fast-fluid combat God of War 3 offers.

Overall, and like other recent remasters, it would be hard to recommend this to those who have already played God of War 3. But for those who haven't - this is certainly God of War at its best, and it's a chance to experience one of the best beat-em up platformers the last generation console had to offer.

God of War III Remastered almost feels like a new game and considering it's been almost 5 years since since I played the original, I still thoroughly enjoyed this experience on the PlayStation 4. Seeing Kratos rendered at 1080p with all the detail is how this god killer should be seen and the gameplay is just as fun. Add in some DLC costumes and God of War III is definitely a worthy purchase which retails for around $55AUD.

Clocking in at around 10 hours, God of War III is worth buying if you've never experienced the series before, but there is not much value added, and old fans have little reason to return to this title.

While admittedly good-looking, there's not much here for anyone that played the game five years ago. For newcomers, especially those without a PS3, Kratos's bloodthirsty pursuit of vengeance is a titan of the action genre. You may want to wait until the price is right though.

At the end of the day, God of War III: Remastered is God of War III again. It's still a solid game with breathtaking visuals and fantastic production values. Any strengths or weaknesses of the original game are still present. The only thing that really holds back God of War III: Remastered from being a must-buy is the $40 price tag, which is too much for a single game with minor touch-ups. Fans of the series might be willing to jump on it, but anyone else would be better off waiting. If you decide to pick it up, you'll find a fun and fully featured game with some of the best visuals on the market.
