Enshrouded Reviews
Enshrouded is certainly one of the largest, most expansive survival crafting games released in quite some time. But among the countless recipes and entertaining fantasy is the opportunity to lose oneself in an accessible, enjoyable building system.
The fog of war clears around Embervale, revealing a survival crafting masterpiece.
Enshrouded’s mix of Valheim-style survival and Breath of the Wild-style exploration make a wonderful pairing, but it still has slew of Early Access kinks to work out.
Enshrouded is a survival action-RPG set in a wide-open world of combat, building, crafting and exploration, each feeding into the other.
Best-in-class building and a lovely atmosphere war against technical difficulties and an uninspiring premise for this early access survival crafting game.
Enshrouded is my favourite of the recent raft of survival games. It's distinctly unique, what with the Shroud occupying parts huge parts of the map, and the insane building potential is excellent, arguably making it the best survival game of the year.
Even though it may not offer anything groundbreaking, you'll likely enjoy Enshrouded if you're a fan of survival games.
While some elements of Enshrouded are genuinely impressive – like its hand-crafted world – the way progression is structured, favoring rushing to the hardest biome you can get to and grinding its respawning chests rather than gradually climbing in power as you reach a new biome, ends up doing the game more harm than good.

Enshrouded 1.0 is an outstanding action-survival RPG that sets a lofty new benchmark for voxel building and world exploration on PS5. While it doesn't quite match the raw survival grit of Valheim, its unparalleled building freedom, high-stakes Shroud timers, and excellent co-op gameplay make Embervale a joy to explore. Minor world reset quirks aside, this is an essential addition to any PS5 library.
An expansive world, well-written lore, and decent base-building provide an enjoyable survival game alternative.
For being in early access, Enshrouded is already phenomenal. What I like most about Enshrouded is it cleverly creates a satisfying gameplay loop out of bouncing players between building and questing, it features a beautiful blend of hand-combed survival crafting tropes and RPG mechanics, and the open world is a massive playground riddled with Shrouds, secrets, and scenic views. Especially with friends, you'll enjoy your time and find what you're looking for in Enshrouded.
More than two years after its Early Access release, Enshrouded 1.0 delivers on everything that was originally promised with flying colours.
Enshrouded has benefited immensely from two years in Early Access, emerging as one of the best survival crafting games in the business.
The full release of Enshrouded delivers a fairly impressive experience for players who have waited over two years. If you love freely shaping landscapes and constructing grand buildings but have grown tired of the lack of clear goals in traditional survival crafting games, or if you want a fantasy open world with a proper main storyline and deep build customization without sacrificing the freedom to reshape the world and build your own base, Enshrouded offers the best of both worlds.

Despite being in early access, Enshrouded shows incredible promise, and while it would be easy to write off the game as a Valheim clone, it's actually much more than that. The game has a noticeable difficulty spike, but it disappears as soon as someone joins you. The world of Embervale is simply breathtaking and perfectly combines hyperrealism and whimsical fantasy. Even the most dangerous parts of the game are pleasing to the eye, and the game itself is simply incredible.
Enshrouded may not redefine the survival genre, but its blend of role-playing, rich world-building, and open exploration makes it a standout entry, and what it lacks in deep combat or narrative structure, it easily makes up for with total freedom in exploration and base construction.

Become a hero who saves a lost civilization and battles a deadly fog. Or focus on architecture and construct unique buildings. The choice is yours. The game doesn't force you into anything, allowing you to enjoy its possibilities and its captivating open world.

With the launch of version 1.0, Enshrouded establishes itself as a premier title within the open-world survival and action-RPG genre. Keen Games has shown admirable respect for its community by utilizing the early access period as a testing ground for continuous improvement. New map content, the introduction of the Sparkworks system, and a compelling conclusion to the story deliver an experience that is rich, immersive, and memorable. Although there are minor shortcomings in melee combat and a lack of crossplay at launch, the game’s strengths far outweigh these flaws. The creative freedom offered by the voxel-based system, combined with an excellent exploration mechanic—featuring a glider and grappling hook—sets a new industry standard. Whether you are an ambitious builder or a fearless explorer, a journey through Embervale is practically essential.
