The Rogue Prince of Persia Reviews
The Rogue Prince of Persia is both a fantastic Prince of Persia game and a brilliant roguelite. Evil Empire draws on the DNA of Dead Cells to make a game that offers a compelling combination of platforming and combat, robust roguelite systems, and an understanding of the underlying rhythms of action games. It's as enthralling to watch and listen to as it is to play.
The Rogue Prince of Persia enters its Early Access stage with a little less punch than you might expect but Evil Empire's pedigree means the foundation is rock solid. Thanks to fluid and responsive movement and an overarching commitment to vibe, this is a prince with eyes set firmly on the crown.
Ultimately The Rogue Prince of Persia is an exceptional roguelite that honors the legacy of its franchise while forging a new identity that boasts stylised graphics, decent audio and strong gameplay that works perfectly on both the Steam Deck and a PC that will make you come back for more, provided you don't get too frustrated from the roguelite nature – kudos to Evil Empire!
The Rogue Prince of Persia is undeniably a game of solid quality, but its current content is lacking. The innovative parkour mechanics bring a lot of fresh experience to the game, but they also require higher platforming skills from the player. The combat system is simplified compared to Dead Cells, but many aspects still need to be improved in terms of practicality. The game's biggest problem at the moment is the lack of roguelike progression elements.

The Rogue Prince of Persia may never be heralded as the greatest in the series (my money would be on Sands of Time) yet what once was a twilight of dark sands, has awoken to a golden dawn filled with new beginnings and hope for the franchise. It’s without doubt a worthy title bound to please fans of the series and newcomers alike.
A relatively successful blend of Dead Cells and Prince of Persia. Its music and acrobatic gameplay in particular promise a few enjoyable hours. However, the somewhat linear structure causes it to become repetitive rather quickly, and after a while, you don’t really see a reason to go for another run. It would benefit from being supported with DLCs.

A fresh take on a classic franchise, The Rogue Prince of Persia offers a solid and smooth roguelite experience. It won't be universally popular among players, but it has the potential to surprise those open to change.

Seriously slick and responsive to play, The Rogue Prince of Persia will likely win you over instantly thanks to its stylish traversal. Add to the mix some wonderful storytelling, a world that's a joy to explore and challenging (but rewarding) combat, and you have one of the best roguelike platforming games of recent years.
The Early Access of The Rogue Prince of Persia shows a lot of things that makes us think this could be one of the finest adventures by the Prince. The movement is amazing, combat is really fun, all the options of personalization of weapons are great and fun to discover and use and the gameplay in general helps a lot to avoid any kind of boredom. We see a lot of potential.

The Rogue Prince of Persia is a solid action game that successfully blends the series’ acrobatic style with a roguelike structure. Movement feels great, combat is responsive, and the progression loop keeps you coming back for another run. Fans of the genre will likely feel right at home here. At the same time, players who have already spent a lot of time with roguelikes, particularly games like Dead Cells, may notice how closely the formula is followed. It doesn’t reinvent the genre, but it executes its ideas well. For newcomers to roguelikes or long-time Prince of Persia fans curious about a new take on the series, this is well worth checking out. It might take a few attempts, a few defeats, and plenty of retries, but helping the Prince fight his way back to victory is still an adventure worth taking. It’s also worth mentioning that a physical version of the game is available, which collectors and fans of physical releases will certainly appreciate.
The Rogue Prince of Persia leaves us with the feeling that the saga still has plenty to offer when it dares to explore new paths without losing its identity. Evil Empire has crafted a fast-paced, fun, and highly replayable adventure, notable for its fluid movement and direct focus on action. It may not reach the depth of the great roguelite classics, but its approach works effectively and maintains interest for many hours. Overall, this is a bold and well-executed return that proves the Prince still has plenty of fight left in him.

There is artistry here, certainly. The backgrounds are gorgeous, painterly vistas that breathe life into every frame, and the character portraits are slick, stylized looks into each person’s psyche (though many such characters are decidedly one-note). On the gameplay side, that same visual artistry translates to a flowing series of actions that read more like a cartoon than a video game. But a game is more than visuals, and the team behind The Rogue Prince of Persia has no shortage of artists across the spectrum. The level design is stellar, offering alternative pathways to traverse and myriad ways to do so; walk, jump, slide, and climb to your heart’s content.
The Rogue Prince of Persia is an enjoyable roguelite that plays it safe but executes well, proving the Persian prince still has plenty of life left in him. It will keep you entertained for hours, even if its story is fairly thin and nothing about it truly stands out. A solid entry that does little wrong — but little that's remarkable either.

It's very easy to recommend Rogue Prince of Persia on PS5, even easier than I thought it would be. The movement is great, the combat is smooth, the art direction really stands out, the music is great, and the roguelite structure works better for this series than I thought it would. This is a no-brainer if you like roguelites.
"I'd rather unlock new routes than weapons and side characters."

This is not a game that tries to convince you it belongs in the Prince of Persia lineage. It assumes that if you care about movement, rhythm, and personal accountability, you’ll feel the connection on your own. And honestly, that confidence is what makes it work. Yes, repetition is part of the package. Long sessions can blur together, and if roguelikes aren’t your thing, this won’t suddenly change your mind. But if you enjoy games that reward improvement over accumulation, and flow over spectacle, The Rogue Prince of Persia hits a very satisfying balance.
The Rogue Prince of Persia lives up to the legacy of the legendary franchise, delivering a fast-paced, acrobatic roguelite that is highly recommended for fans of the genre and the Ubisoft saga. Although it took a while to arrive on the Switch and Switch 2, in this case the wait was worth it, rewarded with a great version that deserves a place in every Nintendo fan's virtual library — ready to save Persia again?

The game blends its story of resurrecting the prince very well with the roguelike system. It delivers a fluid, fun experience and a very satisfying gameplay feel. Although the narrative isn’t deep, it combines the useful with the enjoyable. Its music and visuals are flawless and enhance its quality; even though the game isn’t long, every part shows that it was meticulously crafted.

With combat and movement that you'll hardly see in other similarly structured games today, The Rogue Prince of Persia is an example to be followed by other major publishers that... sometimes, the small fish knows more than the big fish.
